On left rear frame rail right behind the tire at the base of the hump. It will say HD or STD

The next big question is does it actually have any differences than a STD?

I have heard a few things about the hd vs std that I have no idea if it is actually true or not. The crush box gussets, which I have had an hd with no gussets. I have heard they have better humps, I didn’t cut mine apart after it was junk to check but it never blew the humps out after 4 hard runs. Also heard the firewall sheet metal is thicker, which if you’re running a stock class you will cut it all out anyway. So I have no idea. But like everybody says about them, they’re gonna bend no matter what.

Aledgadly. They have the extra bracket inside the humps and front rails similar to what the newer (bubble) body styles have. But IDK. I have never owned an HD. And the torque box gussets are based on year model and have nothing to do with HD vs STD from what I understand. But then I don't know crap. Just ask my girlfriend. I would love to hear an expert actually tell us what the big differences are. But it's typically a secret like the diamond frame Roundbacks.

I look at it like this whether it's a std or HD it's gonna end up fixed my way for our semi stock. So in a knock the windows out an go I may go pay the extra 100 or 200 dollars for a HD but if you get to swap body mounts not worth paying extra for bc then you can fix this the newer fords.

My brother and I have 7 or 8 box Vic’s maybe more and none are hd. I really don’t know if there is a difference and I doubt there is, but if I had to guess the only difference is “HD” bring more money

If you compare the thickness of the frames you will see the difference.... Kinda like comparing the frames of a 74 Electra vs a 74 impala....

I used to have pictures saved of 2 frames cut apart right next to each other. Internally alot different gussets. Unfortunately those pictures are gone.
Gm frames are more of a myth to me as it seemed there was no rhyme or reason behind thick frames. Ive had a mic on a few different GMs. Some years are thicker. Some styles are thicker. Convertible frames are boxed under doors but everyone ive measured has been thicker. I always thought "double" frame gms were only 225s and 98s but ive seen delta 88s with them, some poncho frames. Ive seen exactly one caddy frame that was thicker then every other one, not done by somebody.
Always wondered what goes on in the factory that some stuff goes out thicker. Or doubled. But they are out there.

Fortunately for the owner, this wasn't just the humps, whole frame was thicker
