I have a bia 10 bolt bent the axle bad. Now I can't get an axle back in it. It is just welded spiders and the axle slides in until the bearing hits the flange. I can't drive it in with a 8lb hammer. Anyone got any ideas?

Its braced bottom and back. It chewed the flange which I smoothed out. I'm guessing its the flange.

What you are describing sounds just like a bent housing.

when starting the splines into the center do you need to move the hub of the axle to get the bearing to line up with end of housing?

I don't need to move the hub end of the axle, looking at the bearing it looks a few thou bigger than the flange. I'm going to order a new tapered bearing and race. If it doesn't fix the problem I can use it in one of the other rears I have.
