So we had some bad stuff go wrong with 1 of my HD k727 screw in upper balljoints yesterday, when driving I hit a bump (far less than anything on the track, just a normal gravel rut) not going very fast but when I did it, the internals of the balljoint failed, whatever hold the able part of the pin let loose allowing the internals to travel up and down. When it went up it hit the top cap of the ball joint case it broke it, breaking off the grease zert, the plate I sits on, the silver ring and the cap itself. This is the car on jackstands with no pressure on front suspension This is the same balljoint with pressure Here are all the parts we found Has anyone ever seen this or experienced it because I know we sure haven’t and my balljoint guys never have.

I have never seen that happen. Did you have the ball joint installed when you were welding the ring in ?

No but we did do some welding once the balljoint was in around it. We made caps for it, new trend that’s going to start lol. Balljoint cap protectors.

I always use an old bent balljoint when welding my rings in. Balljoints don't like heat.

weld something from your lower control arm to the frame to take some of the pressure of the up push on ball joint

I’ll have to look at the rules by I don’t think we allowed to weld the lowers
