If they are virgin then you won't need heat or an air hammer. I just used a 3 lbs ball pen hammer and it took 5-10 minutes per side. Now to do pre ran humps that were starting to buckle outwards, I had to use a rosebud to heat them.

As far as seem welding goes are the factory welds normally bad on these? Like specifically on the humps?

As a rule all factory welds are garbage lol. I've had more than one frame that the factory missed several inches all together.

Lol ya I know but just didn’t know if humps were just notoriously bad or not, I have 16 inches of total seem weld behind a arms so I’m trying to figure out what I want to do. Also allowed top seam to be welded a arms forward.

Id throw an inch or two or at least thoroughly inspect the spot where the rear rails attach to the center section. I had a 74 caddy brake in half there once. Like previously stated. Factory welds suck. I had a pontiac that there was six inches of weld a arms forward that wasn't welded to anything. There was a weld there. But it wasn't attached.

Weld behind a arms imo wherever spotty. Thats the business end anyway lol.
If im shaping humps, I really just work on squaring the corners on outside. Dont beat the day lights out of middle of frame rail. Massage towards top and bottom of frame on humps, and make sure not to get any kinks.

Ive had an old iron that wasnt welded on top a arms forward one side at all, nothing there. Must have been a friday night closing time special.
