2018 MONROE COUNTY FAIR DEMOLITION DERBY
July 6th & 7th 7:30 PM

OCTOBER 20, 2018 MONROE COUNTY FALL DEMOLITION DERBY
The Monroe County Officials will be putting on a fall derby on October 20, 2018. Inspection opens at 10:00am until 4:00pm and events begin at 5:00pm. All classes will follow 2018 rules. Classes running in the fall will be Mid, Mini, Super Stock, Pro Mod, and Trucks/Van/SUV. Payouts will be posted at a later date. This event has a 10:00pm curfew.
Inspection and registration at north end of arena, 12:00pm until 1 hour before scheduled start of event. No late registration or inspection.
A. The Monroe County Demolition Derby is promoted as an unusual spectator attraction. In the interest of safety and the promotion of family values events, anyone entering as a participant or spectator must obey ALL rules and regulations.
B. All cars should be on fairgrounds by 3 pm and through inspection by 6:30 pm. This will be enforced and nonnegotiable.
C. Each driver must fill out an official entry form and sign a liability release form before car will be inspected. All drivers must supply their own cars. Only one entry per person per class unless otherwise specified. Men and women will run in same class (no powderpuff). Entry forms will be available on the Monroe County Fairgrounds website, monroecountyfairgrounds.in.
D. All drivers must have a state issued identification card. Drivers less than 18 years of age must have a notarized release signed by legal parent/guardian.
E. The Monroe County Demolition Committee or their appointed representative, reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries.
F. Each entry fee is $40.00 (unless otherwise noted) and nonrefundable, even if your car does not pass inspection. Entry fee also includes one pit pass for driver.
G. Only the cars registered driver can bring the car to inspection and must remain in car at all times. No additional persons allowed (drivers and officials only) in the inspection area while inspections are underway.
H. All drivers must attend the drivers meeting before the show starts.
I. No cars are permitted on track before their assigned event. The succeeding heat is to line up inside the fenced area while preceding heat is on the track.
J. Cars may be re-inspected at any time and/or as many times as promoter deems necessary.
K. Promoter reserves the right to assign heats.
L. Monroe County Fairgrounds is a NO ALCOHOL area. Anyone caught with alcoholic beverages or intoxicated shall be ejected from Fairgrounds. NO APPEAL
FULL SIZE SUPER STOCK, MID, & MINI
FULL SIZE SUPER STOCK TEAM, TRUCK/VAN/SUV
PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS
New 2018 rules:
• Rule #18: Rubber body mounts must remain stock and unaltered with the exception of allowing bolts to be replaced with ½ inch bolts and no more than 3 inch diameter SA washers. Core support on the body may be fastened with washers no more than 3 inches tall from frame to core support, and no home-made washers will be allowed on any of the body mounts. They can be replaced with no larger than ½ bolts and SA 3 inch round washers. No pipes or homemade washers. No smashing of rubber mounts by over tightening. Body must be a minimum of 1" from frame. Body may be secured by body mounts (1/2 inch bolts and SA washers) in 4 locations from center of rear-end to back bumper. May have 3-strands, per side of car, of #9 wire around frame and body.
• Rule #19: There will be absolutely no tolerance for hard nosing of cars! Shock must remain stock and in all stock bolting locations. No reinforcing behind the bumper whatsoever. Bumper mounting bolts no longer than 12 inches.
• Rule #15: No zip screws, self-drilling screws, will be allowed ANYWHERE on the car.
• Rule #5: Transmission mounts must remain stock, in stock locations, not reinforced, or pitching (lifting or tilting) of the transmission at all.
• Rule #35: New Full Size Super Stock Team event on Friday only! Teams must consist of two cars and color coordinate. Entry fee is $100 per car and preregistration is available. ** see rule for more details.
• Rule #10: Rear ends in rear wheel drive cars may be swapped. Welding rear ends into place (if swapped from a different vehicle) is allowed, but no excessive reinforcing of the car will be tolerated. This is much like the engine swap rule. Rear ends must be a 5 lug passenger car type of rear end. That would exclude any rear end with 6 lugs or more.
• Rule #36: New truck, SUV, and van class on Friday evening only! No 4x4 vehicles allowed, unless the front drive shaft is removed to be equivalent to a 2-wheel drive vehicle. There may be two separate classes in which there will be much like a full size and mid/mini equivalent event. The two classes will be strictly official’s judgment. All super stock, mid, mini rules apply to vans and trucks.
• Rule #37: Any inspecting official reserves the right to drill an inspection hole into the cars frame. Officials will drill as many holes necessary for a VERY THOROUGH inspection at any location of the cars frame. We do have inspecting cameras, and we do intend to use them!
• Mandatory seat bar in the stock, mid, mini and truck/van/suv classes there will be no ratchet straps for a seat bar period this is for you safety.
• All drivers must have a state issued identification card. Drivers less than 18 years of age must have a notarized release signed by legal parent/guardian.
1. Any stock hardtop auto or station wagon is allowed. No Imperials, trucks, jeeps, limos, 4-wheel drives, or ambulances will be allowed. No V8s or full frame cars in Mids or Minis. Wheel base specifications- Mini: up to 99 inches Mid: 100-108 inches Full: 109 inches and greater.
2. Drivers must wear long sleeve shirts, long pants, safety belts, DOT approved helmet, appropriate shoes, and goggles or a face shield. Approved safety glasses will be allowed. An approved neck support, gloves, and fire suits are strongly encouraged, but are not mandatory. Seatbelt must be worn at all times.
3. All glass, trim, and upholstery must be removed before entering the fairgrounds. Autos must be swept clean of all debris and parts. No mirrors are allowed.
4. Gas tank - Original gas tank must be removed. A marine type gas tank is to be mounted in the back seat area secured with metal strapping. Exception: fuel injected cars can use stock tank. All plastic tanks need to be secured in a manner so they will not collapse (i.e. accessible wooden or metal box). All lines need to have leak proof connections (such as fittings and hose clamps). Fuel line needs to be protected where it passes through the body. Taped connections are not allowed. Rubber line is allowed if new or good quality. Electric fuel pumps are allowed but must have shut off switch on dash. 5 gallons of pump gas maximum is allowed. All carbs must have breather covers.
5. Any engine is allowed for any vehicle (the exception being no V8 engines in a mid or mini car). Engine mounts must remain stock appearing and in stock locations, but in the case of an engine swapped car the engine mounts can be relocated and may be welded. No excessive welding on mounts. It is of the understanding of the officials that new frame working of the “engine mounts” may be necessary in an engine swapped car, but new added frame working for an engine mount that is intentionally reinforcing the cars frame will not be tolerated. No engine cradles or fabricated engine supports. In the case of a non-engine swapped car, a 2” by 4” by ¼” flat plate may be welded underneath motor mount to hold motor mount in place. Motor mounts can be welded to this specific plate. Any factory transmission cross member can be used as long as they are bolted to frame. Transmission mounts must remain stock, in stock locations, not reinforced, or pitching (lifting or tilting) of the transmission at all. Tranny cooler is allowed but must remain in the engine compartment.
6. Fire wall may have a 6” by 6” hole for distributor if needed. All other holes in firewall must be patched with sheet metal or aluminum.
7. Radiator must remain in stock position and use stock mounts. No part of any cooling is system allowed behind the firewall. Electric fans are allowed to replace mechanical fans. No spray foam is allowed ANYWHERE on car. This includes forbidding spray foam anywhere near or around radiators.
8. Suspension must remain free with minimum of 4" free travel. Factory springs only. No truck springs, no spring jacks, no blocked shocks, no air shocks, no kicking of the springs, no pitching and wedging of A-arms or framework allowed. Springs must remain stock for make and year of car. No truck springs or oversized springs. Rear coils may be #9 wired to keep from kicking out. No bolting or welding allowed.
9. Steering column may be altered as long as it is safe.
10. Stock drive shaft may be shortened or lengthened and welded back but no sliders. Rear ends in rear wheel drive cars may be swapped. Welding rear ends into place (if swapped from a different vehicle) is allowed, but no excessive reinforcing of the car will be tolerated. This is much like the engine swap rule. Rear ends must be a 5 lug passenger car type of rear end. That would exclude any rear end with 6 lugs or more.
11. Brakes must remain operable at the beginning of each event. No aftermarket braking systems allowed.
12. Batteries must be relocated to front passenger area of car. Batteries must be secured with all-thread bolts or ratchet straps and covered with splash guard. Battery cables must be protected from being rubbed or cut in the case of passing through firewalls and/or any type of barrier.
13. Floor pans can be repaired with same thickness metal only. From speaker deck to fire wall must not reinforce the car Bolt or spot weld 1 inch on 3 inch off, not excessive welding or bolting.
14. Tires must have D.O.T. stamp and numbers. Tires must appear to be standard passenger tires no re-caps with tractor type tread. No studded tires. Tires may be filled. Tires must not be more than 10 ply. D.O.T. number and ply rating must be legible on sidewall to be legal or you will not be allowed to use. Grooving of tires and valve stem protectors allowed. No aftermarket weld in centers.
15. Hood lids must remain operable for initial inspection. Hood must have 12"x20" holes cut on each side of carb. Hood and trunk allowed a maximum of 6 hold down “locations” using #9 wire only (no more than 3 strands per location). Maximum of 3 locations from core support to bumper. Must have front half of hood at all times. Trunk lid can be folded downward at 90 degree angle at half way point and remain on stock hinges. No other tucking, wedging, pinching, creasing, or dimpling allowed anywhere on car or frame. No zip screws, self-drilling screws, will be allowed ANYWHERE on the car. Speaker deck can be removed but if it remains in car it cannot be modified. Wagons can be tucked into Sedagons and must abide by the same #9 wire hold down rules applied to trunk lids as stated above. Sedagons may not roll sides/ corners down as a tucking, and Sedagons only allowed to drop rear roof down and cut a sight hole. Sedagons must also abide by tucking and dimpling rules specified above. Sedagons must have two 12” holes cut into roof (if converted to Sedagons) for driver visibility and inspection purposes.
16. Exhaust pipes penetrating hood must point upward not towards front bumper or driver.
17. Driver’s doors may be fastened shut with #9 wire or welded and plated with one single steel plate that may not extend more than 6” beyond door seams (must be flat metal no sharp edges.) Must have a minimum of 8-1/2" diameter bolts. Other doors may be wired shut at a maximum of four places with #9 wire using up to 3 strands.
18. Body seams may not be bolted, screwed, or welded. No rolling tops of doors. Cutting of fenders for tire clearance is allowed. Rubber body mounts must remain stock and unaltered with the exception of allowing bolts to be replaced with ½ inch bolts and no more than 3 inch diameter SA washers. Core support on the body may be fastened with washers no more than 3 inches tall from frame to core support, and no home-made washers will be allowed on any of the body mounts. They can be replaced with no larger than ½ bolts and SA 3 inch round washers. No pipes or homemade washers. No smashing of rubber mounts by over tightening. Body must be a minimum of 1" from frame. Body may be secured by body mounts (1/2 inch bolts and SA washers) in 4 locations from center of rear-end to back bumper. May have 3-strands, per side of car, of #9 wire around frame and body. Factory hole in bottom of frame must remain open. Body and bumper must remain in stock position.
19. Bumpers may be interchanged between manufacturers. No welding whatsoever on bumpers. Bumpers must remain at factory heights. Front and rear bumper must measure no more than 4" difference from bottom of bumper to bottom of bumper. This will be measured from the ground to bottom of bumpers. There will be absolutely no tolerance for hard nosing of cars! Shock must remain stock and in all stock bolting locations. No reinforcing behind the bumper whatsoever. Bumper must be able to be unbolted. Mid’s & Mini’s cannot have full size bumper. Bumpers are allowed 8 bolts, a maximum of ½ diameter, and no longer than 12 inches mounting bumper to car.
20. Frame may not be dimpled. Notching frame is allowed. No chains or #9 wire from frame to rear-end.
21. These rules are intended to be a stock frame and bumper; if it does not appear to be stock or if altered it will not be allowed.
22. MANDATORY: One seat bar behind driver’s seat there will be know ratchet straps aloud this year period for a seat bar. With a 3" maximum diameter pipe or 3” x 3” square tubing with maximum 2- 1/2" bolts with 3" x 3" x 1/4" washers through body on each side. OPTIONAL: In place of mandatory seat bar a cage with four up and down (vertical) bars and one horizontal bar all the way around. A second horizontal bar is allowed only on driver’s side, passenger side, and rear side of cage. No second horizontal bar allowed in dash area due to safety reasons. All cage bars must be 3" maximum in diameter pipe or 3” x 3” square tubing with maximum 2- 1/2" bolts with 3" x 3" x 1/4" washers through body on each side with an up and over bar that must be straight up and down and may not contact frame. Cages and bars must remain in passenger area. Cages may not be welded to frame, bars may be welded to inner sheet metal only or #9 wired to inner door skins. No bars allowed further than 6" behind driver’s seat or further back than rear seat floor pan. No bars allowed further forward than driver’s door seam in dash area. Rear uprights must remain at 90-degree angle to frame (i.e. straight up and down.)
23. Windshield area must have #9 wire, chain, metal strapping, or be welded from roof to cowling behind hood to prevent hood from entering driver’s compartment.
24. No aftermarket accessories allowed. Single lever shifter thru floorboard to transmission only. These are some examples: gas pedal, distributer protectors, brake systems, carburetor protectors, etc.
25. Driver's door must be painted white and left blank. No white allowed anywhere else on car. No obscenities or rude gestures allowed. Car must have 24" high numbers on passenger door and an 18” x 18” roof sign that does not reinforce the car.
26. No part of frame or bumpers can be painted or under coated.
27. All decisions by officials or Fair Board shall be final, NO APPEALS.
28. Only drivers participating on track to remain on track at conclusion of that heat, consy, or feature.
29. Drivers may use front end of their car to hit with.
30. Cutting torches or welders in pit area must have fire suppression of some type, examples- fire extinguisher, pressured water, bucket of sand.
31. Welding only in specified places. Any welding on frame will result in the car being refused. Any other welds will result in disqualification.
32. If it is not clearly addressed in these rules it will not be allowed.
33. Promoter or Fair Board has the right to claim any car for $800.00 with no exchange. Owner keeps batteries and gas tank only.
34. If it is not specifically stated in these rules it will not be allowed. All official inspection calls will be FINAL and arguing will NOT be tolerated.
35. New Super Stock Team Event on Friday night only. Preregistration entry forms are available on the Monroe County Fairgrounds website, monroecountyfairgrounds.in. Preregistration is $100 per car, and checks are to be made payable to Monroe County Fair Association and mailed along with completed form to 5700 W. Wampler Road Gosport, IN 47433. Call Dylan only for registration questions at (812)821-4495. Teams must consist of 2 cars. If your partner backs out it is up to you to find another partner. Teams must be color coordinated and officials are not responsible for supplying paint. Preregistered drivers have first pick at color of their team. At least 50% of the car must be the color designated to your team. Teams or drivers that show up the day of the event to register must chose from the colors left over after preregistered teams have chosen.
36. New truck, SUV, and van class on Friday evening only! No 4x4 vehicles allowed, unless the front drive shaft is removed to be equivalent to a 2-wheel drive vehicle. There may be two separate classes in which there will be much like a full size and mid/mini equivalent event. The two classes will be strictly official’s judgment. 11. Trunk allowed a maximum of 6 hold downs using #9 wire, chains, or may be welded shut. Must have a 12” hole in trunk for inspection.
12. There must be #9 wire, chain, or a bar from the fire wall to the roof in the middle of the windshield to prevent hood from entering driver’s compartment. Optional: #9 wire, chain, or a bar from the roof to the top of trunk lid not exceeding 6” behind rear end housing. Sedagon/Tucked Wagons only: No rear window bars from roof to trunk lids or any other positions allowed, maximum of two strands of #9 wire per side holding roof down to car body only, must have at least two 12” holes cut into roof (for driver visibility and for inspection purposes), allowed six strands of #9 wire on the wagon tailgate or welded shut. No zip screws, self-drilling screws, will be allowed ANYWHERE on the car.
13. Exhaust pipes penetrating hood must point upward not towards front bumper or driver.
14. Any tire no taller than 31” allowed. No studded snow tires. Any type of rim is allowed as long as no reinforcements exceed passed the bead according to the tire size.
15. Brakes must remain operable at the beginning of each event.
16. Suspension: Allowed to kick out front coil springs and/or #9 wire or bolt the top a-arms down or weld with two pieces of 2X4 plate. May have 1” all thread rear shocks and front shocks.
17. A four point cage is allowed with a maximum of four inch tubing. You are allowed four down legs to the top of the frame or body. The dash bar must be six inches away from the fire wall. You may run a kicker up to the distributor protector from the dash bar. Also you may have two kickers from the dash bar angled down to the frame behind the a-arm, no larger than 2” x 2” tubing. Kickers may be welded to frame. The cage must not go further than 6” behind driver’s seat or further back than rear seat floor pan. Cages may be in the door. You may have a single up and over bar attached to the cage only.
18. The bumpers may be welded on. You may butt weld to the end of the frame or weld the bumper shocks and brackets to the frame and bumper. The bumpers may be loaded on the inside only. If not welded on the bumpers may be chained on in two spots. Bumpers may be no larger than 4”x6” and may have no bigger point than 10 inches. Bumper height: max front 24”, minimum rear 24”. Bumpers do not have to be skinned.
19. Body mounts may be changed using 3 inch washers and must have 1” space between body and frame. You may use a 5/8” bolt. You may use a spacer at the core support with up to 1 inch all thread through it for the purpose of fan clearance. This all thread may run up through the hood and count as a hood tie down.
20. Rear ends may be changed; coil spring to coil spring only and leaf spring to leaf spring only. ¾ ton rear-ends are allowed. Any gear ratio is allowed. No more than 7 leaf springs per side on any car.
21. Newer ford cars with aluminum cradles may have a bolt-in or stock cradle welded in. No re-clipping of cars. Watts link cars may use bolt on brackets for rear-end replacement.
22. Any car may have up to 8 plates on the frame. 4 plates in front of cross member, 4 plates behind cross member with 1 inch spacing between plates. Plates may not be bigger than 4”x 6”x1/4” thick. Tilting is allowed. No pinching or creasing of frames is allowed. You are allowed to weld top frame seams only from fire wall forward. Quarter wide bead only. Do not cap frame. Do not pin frame. We will notice.
23. Hump plates will be allowed up to 22” long x 3/8” thick, must be contoured with the frame.
24. Re-skinning body damage is allowed when repairing a rip or hole, but must not exceed 2” of any side of the damaged hole. Sheet metal used in re-skinning must not exceed the thickness of the original body paneling thickness. Re-skinning is also allowed for floor, gas tank, and battery safety. The body panels may be pinched and creased but not welded. No wedged cars allowed.
25. Engine and distributor protectors are allowed. Distributor protectors cannot be attached to the cage.
26. Steering linkage and tie-rods do not have to be stock and can be reinforced.
27. No belly bars allowed.

DISQUALIFICATIONS
A. Intentionally hitting of an opponent’s driver’s door.
B. Blatant team driving will result in all those avoiding hits or holding cars while others are hitting will result in disqualification, unless otherwise specified in rules above (team classes). This will be a judgment call by officials and as all rulings of officials shall be final.
C. Intentionally hitting a car stuck on logs or on dirt boundary, this is considered a serious matter for the safety of crowd and volunteers.
D. Winners of heats and consy must be re-inspected at north end of arena before going to pits, if you do not stop for re-inspection before exiting arena you will be disqualified.
E. Intentionally pushing another car out of arena through entrance or exit or holding them from re-entering.
F. Disobeying, arguing, or use of profanity to any official or volunteer may constitute dismissal for the entire event and grounds for expulsion from the fairgrounds and consideration for permanent barring from further competitions at the Monroe County Fairgrounds.
G. Spilling fuel or catching fire (exhaust fire or carburetor fire that is immediately withdrawn on its own is excluded).
H. Flag men may disqualify any vehicle, which, in his/her opinion, constitutes a reasonable safety hazard to the driver, other competitors, or spectators.
I. The derby will be composed of individual heats and one feature. Feature demolition event will be comprised of winners and co-winners of each heat.
J. Cars must be removed from fairgrounds by 3:00pm on day after show! Any cars remaining on fairgrounds past deadline shall be disposed of by the Demolition Derby Committee. OCTOBER 20, 2018 MONROE COUNTY FALL DEMOLITION DERBY
The Monroe County Officials will be putting on a fall derby on October 20, 2018. Inspection opens at 10:00am until 4:00pm and events begin at 5:00pm. All classes will follow 2018 rules. Classes running in the fall will be Mid, Mini, Super Stock, Pro Mod, and Trucks/Van/SUV. Payouts will be posted at a later date. This event has a 10:00pm curfew.
Inspection and registration at north end of arena, 12:00pm until 1 hour before scheduled start of event. No late registration or inspection.
A. The Monroe County Demolition Derby is promoted as an unusual spectator attraction. In the interest of safety and the promotion of family values events, anyone entering as a participant or spectator must obey ALL rules and regulations.
B. All cars should be on fairgrounds by 3 pm and through inspection by 6:30 pm. This will be enforced and nonnegotiable.
C. Each driver must fill out an official entry form and sign a liability release form before car will be inspected. All drivers must supply their own cars. Only one entry per person per class unless otherwise specified. Men and women will run in same class (no powderpuff). Entry forms will be available on the Monroe County Fairgrounds website, monroecountyfairgrounds.in.
D. All drivers must have a state issued identification card. Drivers less than 18 years of age must have a notarized release signed by legal parent/guardian.
E. The Monroe County Demolition Committee or their appointed representative, reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries.
F. Each entry fee is $40.00 (unless otherwise noted) and nonrefundable, even if your car does not pass inspection. Entry fee also includes one pit pass for driver.
G. Only the cars registered driver can bring the car to inspection and must remain in car at all times. No additional persons allowed (drivers and officials only) in the inspection area while inspections are underway.
H. All drivers must attend the drivers meeting before the show starts.
I. No cars are permitted on track before their assigned event. The succeeding heat is to line up inside the fenced area while preceding heat is on the track.
J. Cars may be re-inspected at any time and/or as many times as promoter deems necessary.
K. Promoter reserves the right to assign heats.
L. Monroe County Fairgrounds is a NO ALCOHOL area. Anyone caught with alcoholic beverages or intoxicated shall be ejected from Fairgrounds. NO APPEAL
FULL SIZE SUPER STOCK, MID, & MINI
FULL SIZE SUPER STOCK TEAM, TRUCK/VAN/SUV
PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS
New 2018 rules:
• Rule #18: Rubber body mounts must remain stock and unaltered with the exception of allowing bolts to be replaced with ½ inch bolts and no more than 3 inch diameter SA washers. Core support on the body may be fastened with washers no more than 3 inches tall from frame to core support, and no home-made washers will be allowed on any of the body mounts. They can be replaced with no larger than ½ bolts and SA 3 inch round washers. No pipes or homemade washers. No smashing of rubber mounts by over tightening. Body must be a minimum of 1" from frame. Body may be secured by body mounts (1/2 inch bolts and SA washers) in 4 locations from center of rear-end to back bumper. May have 3-strands, per side of car, of #9 wire around frame and body.
• Rule #19: There will be absolutely no tolerance for hard nosing of cars! Shock must remain stock and in all stock bolting locations. No reinforcing behind the bumper whatsoever. Bumper mounting bolts no longer than 12 inches.
• Rule #15: No zip screws, self-drilling screws, will be allowed ANYWHERE on the car.
• Rule #5: Transmission mounts must remain stock, in stock locations, not reinforced, or pitching (lifting or tilting) of the transmission at all.
• Rule #35: New Full Size Super Stock Team event on Friday only! Teams must consist of two cars and color coordinate. Entry fee is $100 per car and preregistration is available. ** see rule for more details.
• Rule #10: Rear ends in rear wheel drive cars may be swapped. Welding rear ends into place (if swapped from a different vehicle) is allowed, but no excessive reinforcing of the car will be tolerated. This is much like the engine swap rule. Rear ends must be a 5 lug passenger car type of rear end. That would exclude any rear end with 6 lugs or more.
• Rule #36: New truck, SUV, and van class on Friday evening only! No 4x4 vehicles allowed, unless the front drive shaft is removed to be equivalent to a 2-wheel drive vehicle. There may be two separate classes in which there will be much like a full size and mid/mini equivalent event. The two classes will be strictly official’s judgment. All super stock, mid, mini rules apply to vans and trucks.
• Rule #37: Any inspecting official reserves the right to drill an inspection hole into the cars frame. Officials will drill as many holes necessary for a VERY THOROUGH inspection at any location of the cars frame. We do have inspecting cameras, and we do intend to use them!
• Mandatory seat bar in the stock, mid, mini and truck/van/suv classes there will be no ratchet straps for a seat bar period this is for you safety.
• All drivers must have a state issued identification card. Drivers less than 18 years of age must have a notarized release signed by legal parent/guardian.
1. Any stock hardtop auto or station wagon is allowed. No Imperials, trucks, jeeps, limos, 4-wheel drives, or ambulances will be allowed. No V8s or full frame cars in Mids or Minis. Wheel base specifications- Mini: up to 99 inches Mid: 100-108 inches Full: 109 inches and greater.
2. Drivers must wear long sleeve shirts, long pants, safety belts, DOT approved helmet, appropriate shoes, and goggles or a face shield. Approved safety glasses will be allowed. An approved neck support, gloves, and fire suits are strongly encouraged, but are not mandatory. Seatbelt must be worn at all times.
3. All glass, trim, and upholstery must be removed before entering the fairgrounds. Autos must be swept clean of all debris and parts. No mirrors are allowed.
4. Gas tank - Original gas tank must be removed. A marine type gas tank is to be mounted in the back seat area secured with metal strapping. Exception: fuel injected cars can use stock tank. All plastic tanks need to be secured in a manner so they will not collapse (i.e. accessible wooden or metal box). All lines need to have leak proof connections (such as fittings and hose clamps). Fuel line needs to be protected where it passes through the body. Taped connections are not allowed. Rubber line is allowed if new or good quality. Electric fuel pumps are allowed but must have shut off switch on dash. 5 gallons of pump gas maximum is allowed. All carbs must have breather covers.
5. Any engine is allowed for any vehicle (the exception being no V8 engines in a mid or mini car). Engine mounts must remain stock appearing and in stock locations, but in the case of an engine swapped car the engine mounts can be relocated and may be welded. No excessive welding on mounts. It is of the understanding of the officials that new frame working of the “engine mounts” may be necessary in an engine swapped car, but new added frame working for an engine mount that is intentionally reinforcing the cars frame will not be tolerated. No engine cradles or fabricated engine supports. In the case of a non-engine swapped car, a 2” by 4” by ¼” flat plate may be welded underneath motor mount to hold motor mount in place. Motor mounts can be welded to this specific plate. Any factory transmission cross member can be used as long as they are bolted to frame. Transmission mounts must remain stock, in stock locations, not reinforced, or pitching (lifting or tilting) of the transmission at all. Tranny cooler is allowed but must remain in the engine compartment.
6. Fire wall may have a 6” by 6” hole for distributor if needed. All other holes in firewall must be patched with sheet metal or aluminum.
7. Radiator must remain in stock position and use stock mounts. No part of any cooling is system allowed behind the firewall. Electric fans are allowed to replace mechanical fans. No spray foam is allowed ANYWHERE on car. This includes forbidding spray foam anywhere near or around radiators.
8. Suspension must remain free with minimum of 4" free travel. Factory springs only. No truck springs, no spring jacks, no blocked shocks, no air shocks, no kicking of the springs, no pitching and wedging of A-arms or framework allowed. Springs must remain stock for make and year of car. No truck springs or oversized springs. Rear coils may be #9 wired to keep from kicking out. No bolting or welding allowed.
9. Steering column may be altered as long as it is safe.
10. Stock drive shaft may be shortened or lengthened and welded back but no sliders. Rear ends in rear wheel drive cars may be swapped. Welding rear ends into place (if swapped from a different vehicle) is allowed, but no excessive reinforcing of the car will be tolerated. This is much like the engine swap rule. Rear ends must be a 5 lug passenger car type of rear end. That would exclude any rear end with 6 lugs or more.
11. Brakes must remain operable at the beginning of each event. No aftermarket braking systems allowed.
12. Batteries must be relocated to front passenger area of car. Batteries must be secured with all-thread bolts or ratchet straps and covered with splash guard. Battery cables must be protected from being rubbed or cut in the case of passing through firewalls and/or any type of barrier.
13. Floor pans can be repaired with same thickness metal only. From speaker deck to fire wall must not reinforce the car Bolt or spot weld 1 inch on 3 inch off, not excessive welding or bolting.
14. Tires must have D.O.T. stamp and numbers. Tires must appear to be standard passenger tires no re-caps with tractor type tread. No studded tires. Tires may be filled. Tires must not be more than 10 ply. D.O.T. number and ply rating must be legible on sidewall to be legal or you will not be allowed to use. Grooving of tires and valve stem protectors allowed. No aftermarket weld in centers.
15. Hood lids must remain operable for initial inspection. Hood must have 12"x20" holes cut on each side of carb. Hood and trunk allowed a maximum of 6 hold down “locations” using #9 wire only (no more than 3 strands per location). Maximum of 3 locations from core support to bumper. Must have front half of hood at all times. Trunk lid can be folded downward at 90 degree angle at half way point and remain on stock hinges. No other tucking, wedging, pinching, creasing, or dimpling allowed anywhere on car or frame. No zip screws, self-drilling screws, will be allowed ANYWHERE on the car. Speaker deck can be removed but if it remains in car it cannot be modified. Wagons can be tucked into Sedagons and must abide by the same #9 wire hold down rules applied to trunk lids as stated above. Sedagons may not roll sides/ corners down as a tucking, and Sedagons only allowed to drop rear roof down and cut a sight hole. Sedagons must also abide by tucking and dimpling rules specified above. Sedagons must have two 12” holes cut into roof (if converted to Sedagons) for driver visibility and inspection purposes.
16. Exhaust pipes penetrating hood must point upward not towards front bumper or driver.
17. Driver’s doors may be fastened shut with #9 wire or welded and plated with one single steel plate that may not extend more than 6” beyond door seams (must be flat metal no sharp edges.) Must have a minimum of 8-1/2" diameter bolts. Other doors may be wired shut at a maximum of four places with #9 wire using up to 3 strands.
18. Body seams may not be bolted, screwed, or welded. No rolling tops of doors. Cutting of fenders for tire clearance is allowed. Rubber body mounts must remain stock and unaltered with the exception of allowing bolts to be replaced with ½ inch bolts and no more than 3 inch diameter SA washers. Core support on the body may be fastened with washers no more than 3 inches tall from frame to core support, and no home-made washers will be allowed on any of the body mounts. They can be replaced with no larger than ½ bolts and SA 3 inch round washers. No pipes or homemade washers. No smashing of rubber mounts by over tightening. Body must be a minimum of 1" from frame. Factory hole in bottom of frame must remain open. Body and bumper must remain in stock position.
19. Bumpers may be interchanged between manufacturers. No welding whatsoever on bumpers. Bumpers must remain at factory heights. Front and rear bumper must measure no more than 4" difference from bottom of bumper to bottom of bumper. This will be measured from the ground to bottom of bumpers. There will be absolutely no tolerance for hard nosing of cars! Shock must remain stock and in all stock bolting locations. No reinforcing behind the bumper whatsoever. Bumper must be able to be unbolted. Mid’s & Mini’s cannot have full size bumper. Bumpers are allowed 8 bolts, a maximum of ½ diameter, and no longer than 12 inches mounting bumper to car.
20. Frame may not be dimpled. Notching frame is allowed. No chains or #9 wire from frame to rear-end.
21. These rules are intended to be a stock frame and bumper; if it does not appear to be stock or if altered it will not be allowed.
22. MANDATORY: One seat bar behind driver’s seat there will be know ratchet straps aloud this year period for a seat bar. With a 3" maximum diameter pipe or 3” x 3” square tubing with maximum 2- 1/2" bolts with 3" x 3" x 1/4" washers through body on each side. OPTIONAL: In place of mandatory seat bar a cage with four up and down (vertical) bars and one horizontal bar all the way around. A second horizontal bar is allowed only on driver’s side, passenger side, and rear side of cage. No second horizontal bar allowed in dash area due to safety reasons. All cage bars must be 3" maximum in diameter pipe or 3” x 3” square tubing with maximum 2- 1/2" bolts with 3" x 3" x 1/4" washers through body on each side with an up and over bar that must be straight up and down and may not contact frame. Cages and bars must remain in passenger area. Cages may not be welded to frame, bars may be welded to inner sheet metal only or #9 wired to inner door skins. No bars allowed further than 6" behind driver’s seat or further back than rear seat floor pan. No bars allowed further forward than driver’s door seam in dash area. Rear uprights must remain at 90-degree angle to frame (i.e. straight up and down.)
23. Windshield area must have #9 wire, chain, metal strapping, or be welded from roof to cowling behind hood to prevent hood from entering driver’s compartment.
24. No aftermarket accessories allowed. Single lever shifter thru floorboard to transmission only. These are some examples: gas pedal, distributer protectors, brake systems, carburetor protectors, etc.
25. Driver's door must be painted white and left blank. No white allowed anywhere else on car. No obscenities or rude gestures allowed. Car must have 24" high numbers on passenger door and an 18” x 18” roof sign that does not reinforce the car.
26. No part of frame or bumpers can be painted or under coated.
27. All decisions by officials or Fair Board shall be final, NO APPEALS.
28. Only drivers participating on track to remain on track at conclusion of that heat, consy, or feature.
29. Drivers may use front end of their car to hit with.
30. Cutting torches or welders in pit area must have fire suppression of some type, examples- fire extinguisher, pressured water, bucket of sand.
31. Welding only in specified places. Any welding on frame will result in the car being refused. Any other welds will result in disqualification.
32. If it is not clearly addressed in these rules it will not be allowed.
33. Promoter or Fair Board has the right to claim any car for $800.00 with no exchange. Owner keeps batteries and gas tank only.
34. If it is not specifically stated in these rules it will not be allowed. All official inspection calls will be FINAL and arguing will NOT be tolerated.
35. New Super Stock Team Event on Friday night only. Preregistration entry forms are available on the Monroe County Fairgrounds website, monroecountyfairgrounds.in. Preregistration is $100 per car, and checks are to be made payable to Monroe County Fair Association and mailed along with completed form to 5700 W. Wampler Road Gosport, IN 47433. Call Dylan only for registration questions at (812)821-4495. Teams must consist of 2 cars. If your partner backs out it is up to you to find another partner. Teams must be color coordinated and officials are not responsible for supplying paint. Preregistered drivers have first pick at color of their team. At least 50% of the car must be the color designated to your team. Teams or drivers that show up the day of the event to register must chose from the colors left over after preregistered teams have chosen.
36. New truck, SUV, and van class on Friday evening only! No 4x4 vehicles allowed, unless the front drive shaft is removed to be equivalent to a 2-wheel drive vehicle. There may be two separate classes in which there will be much like a full size and mid/mini equivalent event. The two classes will be strictly official’s judgment. 11. Trunk allowed a maximum of 6 hold downs using #9 wire, chains, or may be welded shut. Must have a 12” hole in trunk for inspection.
12. There must be #9 wire, chain, or a bar from the fire wall to the roof in the middle of the windshield to prevent hood from entering driver’s compartment. Optional: #9 wire, chain, or a bar from the roof to the top of trunk lid not exceeding 6” behind rear end housing. Sedagon/Tucked Wagons only: No rear window bars from roof to trunk lids or any other positions allowed, maximum of two strands of #9 wire per side holding roof down to car body only, must have at least two 12” holes cut into roof (for driver visibility and for inspection purposes), allowed six strands of #9 wire on the wagon tailgate or welded shut. No zip screws, self-drilling screws, will be allowed ANYWHERE on the car.
13. Exhaust pipes penetrating hood must point upward not towards front bumper or driver.
14. Any tire no taller than 31” allowed. No studded snow tires. Any type of rim is allowed as long as no reinforcements exceed passed the bead according to the tire size.
15. Brakes must remain operable at the beginning of each event.
16. Suspension: Allowed to kick out front coil springs and/or #9 wire or bolt the top a-arms down or weld with two pieces of 2X4 plate. May have 1” all thread rear shocks and front shocks.
17. A four point cage is allowed with a maximum of four inch tubing. You are allowed four down legs to the top of the frame or body. The dash bar must be six inches away from the fire wall. You may run a kicker up to the distributor protector from the dash bar. Also you may have two kickers from the dash bar angled down to the frame behind the a-arm, no larger than 2” x 2” tubing. Kickers may be welded to frame. The cage must not go further than 6” behind driver’s seat or further back than rear seat floor pan. Cages may be in the door. You may have a single up and over bar attached to the cage only.
18. The bumpers may be welded on. You may butt weld to the end of the frame or weld the bumper shocks and brackets to the frame and bumper. The bumpers may be loaded on the inside only. If not welded on the bumpers may be chained on in two spots. Bumpers may be no larger than 4”x6” and may have no bigger point than 10 inches. Bumper height: max front 24”, minimum rear 24”. Bumpers do not have to be skinned.
19. Body mounts may be changed using 3 inch washers and must have 1” space between body and frame. You may use a 5/8” bolt. You may use a spacer at the core support with up to 1 inch all thread through it for the purpose of fan clearance. This all thread may run up through the hood and count as a hood tie down.
20. Rear ends may be changed; coil spring to coil spring only and leaf spring to leaf spring only. ¾ ton rear-ends are allowed. Any gear ratio is allowed. No more than 7 leaf springs per side on any car.
21. Newer ford cars with aluminum cradles may have a bolt-in or stock cradle welded in. No re-clipping of cars. Watts link cars may use bolt on brackets for rear-end replacement.
22. Any car may have up to 8 plates on the frame. 4 plates in front of cross member, 4 plates behind cross member with 1 inch spacing between plates. Plates may not be bigger than 4”x 6”x1/4” thick. Tilting is allowed. No pinching or creasing of frames is allowed. You are allowed to weld top frame seams only from fire wall forward. Quarter wide bead only. Do not cap frame. Do not pin frame. We will notice.
23. Hump plates will be allowed up to 22” long x 3/8” thick, must be contoured with the frame.
24. Re-skinning body damage is allowed when repairing a rip or hole, but must not exceed 2” of any side of the damaged hole. Sheet metal used in re-skinning must not exceed the thickness of the original body paneling thickness. Re-skinning is also allowed for floor, gas tank, and battery safety. The body panels may be pinched and creased but not welded. No wedged cars allowed.
25. Engine and distributor protectors are allowed. Distributor protectors cannot be attached to the cage.
26. Steering linkage and tie-rods do not have to be stock and can be reinforced.
27. No belly bars allowed.

DISQUALIFICATIONS
A. Intentionally hitting of an opponent’s driver’s door.
B. Blatant team driving will result in all those avoiding hits or holding cars while others are hitting will result in disqualification, unless otherwise specified in rules above (team classes). This will be a judgment call by officials and as all rulings of officials shall be final.
C. Intentionally hitting a car stuck on logs or on dirt boundary, this is considered a serious matter for the safety of crowd and volunteers.
D. Winners of heats and consy must be re-inspected at north end of arena before going to pits, if you do not stop for re-inspection before exiting arena you will be disqualified.
E. Intentionally pushing another car out of arena through entrance or exit or holding them from re-entering.
F. Disobeying, arguing, or use of profanity to any official or volunteer may constitute dismissal for the entire event and grounds for expulsion from the fairgrounds and consideration for permanent barring from further competitions at the Monroe County Fairgrounds.
G. Spilling fuel or catching fire (exhaust fire or carburetor fire that is immediately withdrawn on its own is excluded).
H. Flag men may disqualify any vehicle, which, in his/her opinion, constitutes a reasonable safety hazard to the driver, other competitors, or spectators.
I. The derby will be composed of individual heats and one feature. Feature demolition event will be comprised of winners and co-winners of each heat.
J. Cars must be removed from fairgrounds by 3:00pm on day after show! Any cars remaining on fairgrounds past deadline shall be disposed of by the Demolition Derby Committee. SCAVENGING OF PARTS OR CARS IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN AND WILL BE PROSECUTED WITH LOCAL AUTHOURITIES. Entry blanks can be picked up at the Monroe County Extension office or the Fair Office the week prior and the week of the fair.
