THE OFFICIALS’ DECISION IS FINAL. IF IT’S NOT IN THE RULES IT DOES NOT MEAN YOU CAN DO IT! IF YOU’RE NOT SURE, CALL AND ASK.
Important Driver Information
1. All drivers must have a valid driver’s license and must be 18 years of age or older. Drivers under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian present or a notarized authorization from the parent or guardian.
2. Safety belts, helmets, long pants, sleeved shirts and eye protection is mandatory!
3. No drivers or pit persons under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be allowed!
4. Pit area is idle zone only!
5. No one, including crew members, is allowed in the show area at any time except for the officials and drivers. Drivers are responsible for their crew members’ actions. If any problems occur, ALL PRIZE MONEY, ENTRY FEES AND TROPHIES WILL BE FORFEITED.
6. All prize money and trophies will be awarded at the end of the feature race.
7. Additional rules may be imposed or existing rules supplemented or changed depending on safety requirements and track conditions.
8. ALL DECISIONS OF THE OFFICIALS AND FLAGMEN ARE FINAL!
** IF YOU HAVE TO MAKE CHANGES TO YOUR CAR, YOU ONLY GET ONE
CHANCE TO MAKE IT RIGHT***
****FULL SIZE WELDED CAR CLASS
1). Any passenger car, foreign or domestic, 107” wheel base and larger.
A. NO Hearses or Limos allowed.
*B. Chrysler Imperials will be allowed this year.
2). Driver’s name must be on the door above the number. No more than 3 numbers!
A. Driver’s door MUST be painted white!
3). Any 7.50 – 15” or smaller tires will be allowed.
4). All glass including the windshield must be removed. All trim, plastic, headlights, tail lights, door handles and fiberglass body parts must be removed.
5). Stock gas tank must be removed. A METAL 5-gallon marine type tank is required and must be located in the middle of the back-seat area. All tanks, lines and fittings must be SECURELY FASTENED. Gas tanks must be covered.
6). Radiators and fans may be removed but not relocated. No camouflage materials or spray foam around the radiator. No extra metal in the core support.
7). Transmission coolers are optional. If used they must be located on the firewall or back cage bar, safely away from the driver.
8). Battery must be SECURELY FASTENED, COVERED and located on passenger side floor board. Only one passenger-car-type battery may be used.
9). All doors must be chained, wired with #9 wire or welded shut. Solid welding on only the door seams is allowed, Up to a 4-inch strap 1/8” thick. Driver’s door must be reinforced in some way, inside of car. Any door that is pushed in too far or comes open will disqualify you. OFFICIALS’ DISCRETION
10). Bumpers must be passenger-car-type bumpers only. NO truck bumpers, trailer hitches, special bumpers. Homemade ok but must have factory chrome skin. Bumpers must be welded or chained in place. If you don’t use shocks you can use a 4”x6” ½” plate on one side of frame to weld the bumper on. If adding bumper shocks, you must use ONE type of stock factory style mounts, not a combination. No rear bumper brackets on front bumpers. NO corner support kickers. Front Bumpers must be no higher than 22” from ground to bottom of bumper.
11). Suspension. Solid suspension ok. A-arms can be welded solid with a ¼” thick 2” wide strap and only may contact frame 2” beyond a-arm. NO special lifts, blocks or shackles.
A.*** ALL COIL SPRING CARS may be converted to leaf springs, 5 leaf max. No double mains. 5/16” thick, 2 ½” wide leafs. 2” stagger front and back. 5 clamps per side, 2x4x1/4” & 5/16” bolts max. Leaf spring cars can have up to 5 leafs in the springs. No all thread struts, you must have shocks.
B. ***ALL COIL SPRING CARS only may plate the rear humps, if you choose NOT to leaf it. OUTSIDES FRAME RAILS ONLY, with 22” of 1/4” steel, contour of the frame and one per side.
12). FRAMES may be seam welded. ALL stock frame holes must be open. No painted frames! No camouflage material of any kind on frames!
A. Fresh frames cannot have any added steel anywhere!
The only exception to this rule is on GM cars with the hole in the frame behind the bumper horns on Buicks, Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles. In this spot, a washer can be welded to make the hole smaller but NOT welded shut, at least a ½” hole.
B. FRAME PATCHES must be no thicker than ¼” and no bigger than 4”x6”. Damage must be visible, no boxing in. No more than 6 frame patches will be allowed!
C. Bars under the frame “Barry Bars” can only be used if they were on the car from the factory and must be STOCK BARS.
D. A single chain may be welded on both sides of the frame and going around the rear axle.
*E. Chrysler Imperials may weld 12” per side total, K-frame to side frame rail, TOP SIDE ONLY. No fillers, only welds.
*DI cars with front plates from bumper to a-arms must either remove plates or you may leave 6” of plate and they will count as 2 of your 6 frame patches.
13). BODY PATCHES will be allowed within reason. This means the metal being used must be sheet metal and the place being patched must be damaged or rusty. Each patch must be no larger than 8” x 8” in size. NO LAYERING OF PATCHES, THERE MUST BE A 2 INCH GAP BETWEEN PATCHES.
14). BODYS CANNOT be bolted solid to the frame. MUST HAVE 3/4“gap. Bolts no bigger than ¾”. The bolts can only be bolted through the top side of the frame. No adding bolts to the frame from side to side, ex., rear humps, bumper brackets, etc. No bolts going through the bottom of the frame, except for the 2 core support bolts. Bottom holes in the frame must be open. NO welding of the body to the frame. All frame holes must be open.
A. Fenders may be trimmed and bolted, up to 10 bolts per side of car. ½” bolts.
15). A hole must be cut in the center of the hood above the carburetor, at least 12” in diameter. All exhaust pipes must exit straight up or down from the engine, no upward angles.
A. HOOD tie downs can be wires, chains or bolts up to 1” in size in 6 places. No reinforcement in front or around the radiator. Tie downs must be sheet metal to sheet metal. NO LARGER THAN 4”x4” ¼” PLATES TO BE USED FOR TIE DOWNS. CORE SUPPORT tie downs may use 1” ready rod with 1 ½” pipe and go thru the frame and be welded to the core support.
16). Trunks & Sedagon roof must have a hole in the center of the trunk lid or Sedagon roof at least 8” in diameter. Trunks must be chained, wired or bolted in 4 places. If bolted, only bolts up to ¾”. Sheet metal to sheet metal only. Trunks & tailgates may be welded, but not solid, 4 inch gaps, and sheet melt to sheet metal.
17). A four-point cage is mandatory. The cage must consist of ONE dash bar above the steering column, ONE driver side bar, ONE passenger side bar and ONE bar behind the front seat. All bars cannot be any bigger than 6” stock. The bar behind the front seat may be no further than 6” behind the front seat. You may have two uprights in the front and two in the back, straight up and straight down. No angles. The uprights in the back may not extend passed the back bar or passed the front dash bar, no exceptions. The uprights may be welded to the TOP of the frame only. NO plates or reinforcing the frame to mount the uprights. Uprights cannot be bolted, welded or connected to any body mount. Gas tank protectors are ok, must be welded to the back bar, 22 inches wide x 18 inches deep max. and may not be attached to the body. Rollover bars are allowed.
18). Distributor protectors are ok but must not be attached to the cage. There must be a 6” gap from the distributor protector to the cage. No exceptions.
19) You must run windshield bars, max of 2, a minimum of 6” on either side of distributor protector, and only attached to sheet metal on firewall and roof.
19A) One back window bar allowed, and attached only to roof sheet metal and down no farther back then the rear pillars.
20). INSPECTION – ALL cars must be inspected BEFORE they are unloaded from trailers. All cars must be inspected 30 minutes before the race. All cars will be looked over again before their heats. A post race inspection will be conducted.
****WELDED COMPACT CAR CLASS
1) Compact/Midsize Weld cars must be 110” wheelbase and smaller for front wheel drive and 107” wheelbase and smaller for rear wheel drive cars. NO shortening of cars allowed. We will check factory wheelbase measurements.
2) Four and Six-cylinder motors only.
3) All other Full size welded car rules apply.
****WIRE COMPACT CAR CLASS
1). Compact Wire cars will consist of rear wheel drive cars with 105” wheelbase or smaller and front wheel drive cars with 108” wheelbase or smaller. NO shortening of cars allowed. We will check factory wheelbase.
2). Four and six-cylinder motors only.
3). All other full-size wire car rules apply.
****WIRE TRUCK CLASS
*1). ½ ton trucks, vans, Suburban’s, Blazers and Broncos will be accepted; 2-wheel drive & 4-wheel drive ok. NO JEEPS. You cannot sedagon a Suburban. 4x4’s can only have 1 drive shaft. ½ ton suspension only, no rear-end or leaf spring swaps.
2). A four-sided driver protection cage is MANDATORY. Cages must not exceed 6” in front of the doors, floating only, no down bars to the frame. The back bar may NOT extend into the bed of the truck. The back bar may not be more than 6” past the driver’s seat, Back bar may have 2 down bars welded to the frame. A rollover bar must be installed to back cage bar.
3). Beds can only be mounted with factory mounts. No additional bolts or welds. Rubber mounts may be removed. Factory bed floors only. WE WILL NOT ALLOW FOLDED DOWN BEDSIDES ON ANY TRUCKS, THEY MUST BE UPRIGHT WITH TAILGATES WELDED OR WIRED ON in stock location only. If welding, only 4 spots, 6” per weld. No flatbeds or utility beds, only stock truck beds allowed.
4). The back of the cab may be welded to the bed. No other reinforcing will be allowed.
5). Stock gas tanks must be removed. METAL marine tanks are recommended. Tanks must be mounted in the front of the bed and securely bolted in place. All other gas tank rules apply. NO MORE THAN 5 GALLONS.
6). Car bumpers and stock truck style bumpers are allowed. No special, homemade or aftermarket bumpers allowed, DMI, etc. You may use a piece of pipe, steel or box tubing no longer than 6” long and no wider than 2” to mount the front bumper. You also may use car bumper shocks to mount the bumper.
7). ALL frames must remain stock. One length of chain will be allowed between frame rails. The chain must be located between the rear axle and rear bumper.
*7a). Do not use camouflage materials or paint on frame. If you have rust damage you may use one 4”x6” ¼” plate to repair. 2 rust repairs only, no more.
One 4”x6” plate may be welded on frame for visible damage on pre-ran trucks only. 2 Plates total per truck.
8). ALL trucks must have working brakes.
9) All other full-size wire class car rules apply.
****FULL SIZE CAR WIRE CLASS RULES (Stock Class)
Any year car… No Imperials, no Suicide Lincolns, no hearses or limos
Body_______
1). Remove all glass mirrors and plastic. Remove all decking in wagons
Vehicles must be swept clean of all debris
2). No sedagons, no crease enhancement, no sheet metal or frame shaping, forming or
folding. Body to remain completely stock.
3). Deck and Hood must be 100% in stock location and open for inspection. After inspection you may tuck trunk with a single 90-degree bend.
4). Anything can be removed, NOTHING can be added
5). Fasten hoods, trucks in 6 places, with #9 wire, Do not weld hood or trunk. Core support bolts may be replaced with 1” all thread rod, BOLTED ONLY, going thru the frame and out the hood, but hood may not be bolted down, wired only. DOORS can be wired, chained or welded. You may weld doors 6” on 6” off on each vertical seam only, 2” x 1/8” strap can be used. Drivers door only may be welded solid.
6). Body mounts and spacers to remain stock and in place. If they are broken, #9 wire may be substituted. No body bolt changing allowed.
_Frames_____
1). NO welding on frames allowed. NO PAINTING OF FRAMES
2). No suspension modifications allowed. Must remain strictly stock
3). No cold bending or tipping of frames. No Frame modifications allowed.
* a). We will allow ONE 4”x6” patch on visible frame damage on pre-ran cars, 2 patches total per car.
* b). Frame notching is allowed, but you cannot weld the notch back together.
_Drive Train___
1). No performance parts or engines allowed, stock only. Engines subject to a $500 claimer, so if you wouldn’t sell your engine before the derby for $500, don’t bring it. The only acceptable upgrades are timing chain, headers, basic tune up, etc... not complete rebuilds. The OFFICIALS may claim your motor, you must have removed within 3 hours. You keep your headers.
2). Only the lower stock engine mounts may be welded or chained to cross member, not the frame. Stock mounts only.
3). No rear-end swaps allowed, must be rear that came from the factory with that car. Rear-end gears may be welded only, no gear changes. No 8 lug or floater rear-ends.
4). Floor shifters allowed, headers allowed
5). No engine cradles, slip shafts, protectors of any kind, no aftermarket parts of this nature at all.
6). You may swap engines, but you may not add steel to the K member for mounting. You must use stock mounts only. You must use the stock cross member, bolted in only, for transmission. Tail shaft may be chained or wired to cross member.
_ Driver Compartment__Cage
1). 4-point square floating cage only, no down pipes or kickers. Halo bar allowed, only welded to the back bar, not to floor. Back bar must not be over 6” past driver’s seat.
* 1a). You may have 2 down bars on the cage, welded to the floor only, straight up and down, no angles or you will have to cut them out.
2). Drivers door must be padded.
3). Gas tank and battery must be moved and secured. Tank behind the seat, Battery on the passenger front floor.
4). No oil or transmission coolers allowed. O.E. radiator cooling only.
_ Bumpers____
1). You may weld on bumpers, no welding further than 4 inches from the back of bumper, single pass only, do not add any steel at all. All bumpers must be stock factory car bumpers. No homemade bumpers.
2). Shocks may be collapsed and welded, single pass only. All bumper shocks and brackets in stock location only. Factory mounts only, no aftermarket or homemade brackets and cannot be welded to frame.
3). Or you may chain, one piece of chain per side BOLTED from the mount to mount to hold on the bumper.
NO tire restriction, Brakes MUST work.
Only welding allowed is bumper, engine mounts, cage, doors and rear end! Single pass only. No added steel. Unless noted in your specific class rules.

5). Stock gas tanks must be removed. METAL marine tanks are recommended. Tanks must be mounted in the front of the bed and securely bolted in place. All other gas tank rules apply. NO MORE THAN 5 GALLONS.
6). Car bumpers and stock truck style bumpers are allowed. No special, homemade or aftermarket bumpers allowed, DMI, etc. You may use a piece of pipe, steel or box tubing no longer than 6” long and no wider than 2” to mount the front bumper. You also may use car bumper shocks to mount the bumper.
7). ALL frames must remain stock. One length of chain will be allowed between frame rails. The chain must be located between the rear axle and rear bumper.
*7a). Do not use camouflage materials or paint on frame. If you have rust damage you may use one 4”x6” ¼” plate to repair. 2 rust repairs only, no more.
One 4”x6” plate may be welded on frame for visible damage on pre-ran trucks only. 2 Plates total per truck.
8). ALL trucks must have working brakes.
9) All other full-size wire class car rules apply.
****FULL SIZE CAR WIRE CLASS RULES (Stock Class)
Any year car… No Imperials, no Suicide Lincolns, no hearses or limos
Body_______
1). Remove all glass mirrors and plastic. Remove all decking in wagons
Vehicles must be swept clean of all debris
2). No sedagons, no crease enhancement, no sheet metal or frame shaping, forming or
folding. Body to remain completely stock.
3). Deck and Hood must be 100% in stock location and open for inspection. After inspection you may tuck trunk with a single 90-degree bend.
4). Anything can be removed, NOTHING can be added
5). Fasten hoods, trucks in 6 places, with #9 wire, Do not weld hood or trunk. Core support bolts may be replaced with 1” all thread rod, BOLTED ONLY, going thru the frame and out the hood, but hood may not be bolted down, wired only. DOORS can be wired, chained or welded. You may weld doors 6” on 6” off on each vertical seam only, 2” x 1/8” strap can be used. Drivers door only may be welded solid.
6). Body mounts and spacers to remain stock and in place. If they are broken, #9 wire may be substituted. No body bolt changing allowed.
_Frames_____
1). NO welding on frames allowed. NO PAINTING OF FRAMES
2). No suspension modifications allowed. Must remain strictly stock
3). No cold bending or tipping of frames. No Frame modifications allowed.
* a). We will allow ONE 4”x6” patch on visible frame damage on pre-ran cars, 2 patches total per car.
* b). Frame notching is allowed, but you cannot weld the notch back together.
_Drive Train___
1). No performance parts or engines allowed, stock only. Engines subject to a $500 claimer, so if you wouldn’t sell your engine before the derby for $500, don’t bring it. The only acceptable upgrades are timing chain, headers, basic tune up, etc... not complete rebuilds. The OFFICIALS may claim your motor, you must have removed within 3 hours. You keep your headers.
2). Only the lower stock engine mounts may be welded or chained to cross member, not the frame. Stock mounts only.
3). No rear-end swaps allowed, must be rear that came from the factory with that car. Rear-end gears may be welded only, no gear changes. No 8 lug or floater rear-ends.
4). Floor shifters allowed, headers allowed
5). No engine cradles, slip shafts, protectors of any kind, no aftermarket parts of this nature at all.
6). You may swap engines, but you may not add steel to the K member for mounting. You must use stock mounts only. You must use the stock cross member, bolted in only, for transmission. Tail shaft may be chained or wired to cross member.
_ Driver Compartment__Cage
1). 4-point square floating cage only, no down pipes or kickers. Halo bar allowed, only welded to the back bar, not to floor. Back bar must not be over 6” past driver’s seat.
* 1a). You may have 2 down bars on the cage, welded to the floor only, straight up and down, no angles or you will have to cut them out.
2). Drivers door must be padded.
3). Gas tank and battery must be moved and secured. Tank behind the seat, Battery on the passenger front floor.
4). No oil or transmission coolers allowed. O.E. radiator cooling only.
_ Bumpers____
1). You may weld on bumpers, no welding further than 4 inches from the back of bumper, single pass only, do not add any steel at all. All bumpers must be stock factory car bumpers. No homemade bumpers.
2). Shocks may be collapsed and welded, single pass only. All bumper shocks and brackets in stock location only. Factory mounts only, no aftermarket or homemade brackets and cannot be welded to frame.
3). Or you may chain, one piece of chain per side BOLTED from the mount to mount to hold on the bumper.
NO tire restriction, Brakes MUST work.
Only welding allowed is bumper, engine mounts, cage, doors and rear end! Single pass only. No added steel. Unless noted in your specific class rules.
