^^^^yep. By no means do i mean disrespect to you, but if you didn't know or understand the firewall needs be left in as one of the steps to making it all work, I'd stick with the kickers. Very well put. I have been going with the "if you have to ask theory the whole thread" However if you don't ask, you will never learn in some cases. I never mind sharing what I know. However you cant incorporate but so much into one build at a time. He doesn't own protectors or understand how they work. That's why I previously posted to just run the kickers.

I do own a cradle and I do understand how protectors work..I'm the question is a simple one that like most everything is being way to far read into...I simply asked because I've seen numerous people run both ways and I've seen people run a DP with the firewall cut out so that's why I'm asking what the better option would be...I understand that having the firewall in is a big part but obviously it must not be to big of one since I've seen ALOT of very well built cars around here run with it cut out...that's why I don't really get why they would run a DP unless it's just bc they already have it so they leave it on

Around my area if you see a dp with firewall cut it was most likely so they could pass inspection

When I run. DP I use a porta power to shove it into the firewall as tight as possible. Unless the DP is really close to the dashbar it is not a kicker only a protector. Some rules state that you have to cut the firewall if running a DP and the dashbar has to be x number of inches away so it cannot become a kicker. Some rules even state that if the DP touches the dashbar you are disqualified.

May i ask what style DP you have? The lower part (cradle) plays a huge role in this decision. If you can't keep the bolts in the block and/or the engine fully connected to the engine protector then the DP is going to do more bad then good. Also can you gusset your kickers? I have more of a problem of them swaying side to side then anything. Especially a 1 inch square.
