2017 Sawyer County Fair Demolition Derby
Saturday August 19th - 6:00 P.M.
General rules for both classes:
Must be 16 years of age or older. If under 18 you must have notarized parent permission.
Must have visible numbers on both sides and roof.
Driver must wear seat belt, helmet, and eye protection.
No driver door hits.
Must make a competitive hit every 60 seconds. We will not be pulling cars apart or getting them unstuck unless its down to the last 3 and 2 being stuck together. You will be put on a 60 second count down from the time you stop moving.
Interior must be stripped of all burnable material except for front seats, driver door pad, dash, and steering column.
All glass must be removed.
Exterior lights, glass, fiberglass, and small trim/emblems that can fall off must be removed.
Battery must be securely fastened inside of car, up to 2 allowed.
Metal boat gas tank or fuel cell must be securely mounted inside of car with lines running inside of car.
Rust/pre ran - rust holes and bends on preran cars may be replaced/plated with the same size metal up to 1 inch past the affected area. Must be able to see proof, don’t go overboard!
For driver safety, you may run up to 4 point floating cage with roll bar. (dash bar, seat bar, connecting door bars). No bigger than 8” plates at the end of the dash and seat bar. Must be bolted or welded to sheet metal. May use a gas tank protector off of the seat bar in the middle, no wider than 30” and must remain 6” away from any sheet metal. Roll bar may be bolted to roof in 2 spots. No kickers!

Pure Stock Small Cars:
1st - $1,000
2nd - $500
3rd - $300
4th - $100
Any front wheel drive unibody car, 3, 4, or 6 cylinder only!
Must use the stock bumper matching year, make, and model of the car unless it is plastic then you may replace with another small car tin metal bumper.
Body mounts are not to be altered in any way! No adding of any body mounts.
Suspension may not be altered in any way. Stock height. No reinforcing of any kind.
Back end may be notched / pre bent.
No adding of body lines/creasing.
All doors must be chained or #9 wired shut with up to 2 chains per door.
Hood and trunk must be chained or #9 wired shut with up to 4 chains each.
No threaded rod or welding seams!
No welding, plating, or reinforcing of any kind anywhere on the car.
Stock shifters, steering columns, gas & brake pedals only.
Stock or donut spare tires only, no filling, doubling, or expensive thick plies!
Completely stock class, strip, chain, and go have some fun!
Super Stock Fullsize Cars:
1st - $1,500
2nd - $1,000
3rd - $500
4th - $100
Any 2002 or older 2 wheel drive car allowed except imperials.
Bodies/mounts/threaded rod -
Body must match frame. Vertical door seams may be welded from window down with up to 3” wide strap x 3/8” thick. Top side of trunk lid seams may be welded with up to 3” wide strap x 3/8” thick. Doors and trunk may also be chained or #9 wired shut if not welded. Hood may be secured up to 6 places with up to 1” threaded rod, chain, #9 wire, or 3x3x¼" angle iron with 2 bolts connecting the fender and hood pieces. Only the front 2 threaded rod may connect to the frame. You may also run 2, 1” threaded rod in the trunk.
Body mounts -
Option A) all body mounts may be replaced through the top half of the frame and the floor sheet metal with up to 1” bolts and 3” washers.
Option B) leave all body mounts completely stock (except the front 2 core support) and add up to 6 body mounts in the cab of the car all the way through the frame, up to 1” bolts with 3” washer. (this is a option that I believe will require much less time and work to be able to compete) either a or b not both!
Frames:
Absolutely no tilting in anyway!
No reinforcing in anyway!
Front horns may be shortened, but core support must mount in stock holes.
Rear frame rails may be notched/dimpled/prebent
Top frame seam may be welded from fire wall forward with a single ¼” pass.
Transmission cross member may be moved and welded where needed or replaced with same size steel.
Absolutely no other frame welding, except metric gm’s may plate rear humps!
Bumpers:
Any car bumpers allowed.
You may us a piece of square tube steel as a front bumper up to 6”x6”x’¼ but must remain straight, no wider than car, and have a factory chrome outer bumper skin welded around it.
Bumper seams may be welded.
OEM bumpers may be stuffed.
May be hardnosed, welded directly to frame.
Original bumper mounts/shocks may be collapsed and welded. Original mounts/shocks may be welded to the frame in oem position or they may be removed.
May use 2 pieces of angle iron per horn to help attach bumper, no larger than 3”x3”x¼” and no taller than the frame.
Steering/Suspension:
Aftermarket steering columns/wheels allowed.
Front control arms must be able to bolt on to frame without modification.
Tie rods may be reinforced.
Front end suspension may be welded solid with a strap 3” wide by ¼” thick over the top of the upper control arm, welded to the frame a max of 2”of total weld in front and 2” behind the control arm, or you may run a 3”x3”x¼” block from the bottom of the frame to the top of the lower control arm and may be welded all the way around the block.
You may also run spring spacers instead.
No reinforcing control arms.
No reinforcing of rear trailing arms.
No leaf conversions.
***rear end housing may be reinforced but not strengthen the car***
Rear suspension height may be changed but must bounce!
Any 5 bolt car rear end is allowed.
Watts conversations allowed.
Gears may be welded/changed.
Drive train:
You may run any motor and transmission of choice.
A basic lower engine cradle (block saver) and pulley protector will be allowed.
No other protectors or reinforcements will be allowed on the engine or tranny.
Motor mounts may be welded in.
Transmission cooler allowed.
Any radiator allowed in stock location.
Any drive shaft allowed.
Any shifter allowed.
Any gas/brake pedal set ups allowed.
Any tires allowed.
Stock type wheels, weld in centers and valve stem protectors allowed, no beadlocks.
