Here's a video I captured at one of the events we filmed this summer. This is why I always wear a fire suit when I am out on the track. Only takes one moment for things to go bad. I personally had a radiator blow up on me in one of my first derbies, so have learned that you can never be too safe. What are your thoughts??
Event took place at the Hillsdale County Fair in Hillsdale Mi.

Yupp, another budget build, cheap low pressure fuel line on a high pressure system, probably not even using high pressure clamps. See this way too often, but ya know, officials don't mind it. Glad the officials I run with actually pay attention to how the car is built and not just the cheating aspect.

Had a long line of circumstances that led to my car fireballing in troy. Took the right shot and ripped the shock through the side(I've never seen anything like it) of my frame/v'd the bumper which folded my radiator in half. Radiator shoved into pulleys and popped the serpentine belt. Wheeled around for a bit, got hot and eventually split a trans line and poof, fire. There are a lot of fires in the street stock shows that could be prevented though.

Safety first guys. Too many times Poo-Poo happens in this sport. It still amazes me that drivers are allowed to wear shorts and T-shirts. Smart equipment wont stop accidents but it puts the advantage on your side.

I can attest to a fire suit is well worth the money, even if its just a single layer jacket as I dont know how many times it has kept me from getting burnt from the radiator getting hit or from hot tranny fluid when my tranny has snapped in half on 3 occasion on me. it has kept me out of having to go to the hospital many times and the high cost of bills from there also so i think it is a Wise decision to get one to use as mine has saved me numerous times already and payed for itself.

I would have to say that track/event has an amazing fire department!! I give the tip of the hat to the fire departmen! All of them were sitting down and still responded in a very quick amount of time! Very professional about putting the fire out too

I had a pretty good fire this year in my promod truck, the air cleaner got hit and sheared the brass fuel nipple on the carb. It then pumped quite a bit of gas all over the motor until the motor died then it went up in a nice ball of fire.
The track officials at the Turkey Bash (Outlaw promotions), were on point and was there with extinguishers in seconds.
I just wear a cheap single layer suit, but under it I have an FR long-sleeved shirt and blue jeans as well.
