Anybody use those flex o lite fans with success? They look awful cheesy to me, but I guess they wont hurt the radiator as much. Opinions?

I have been using them for years. There are better fans that are not legal many places that I run. And there are fans that destroy everything in their path. It all depends on your rules and personal preference.

My opinion, electric or none. That's just me though.

I've heard, mind you, heard that the flex fans will flatten out at higher RPMs.
Don't know if there's any truth to that, just the word on the street, lol
I've never used em to know for sure.

Like you, my understanding of them is that they are made to move air at idle, but flatten out at high rpm in order to offer less resistance and therefore rob less horsepower. Sounds great in theory, don't know if they really work that way. However, if that is actually how they work, they would be basically useless in a derby.

I just ran a plastic flex o lite and will throw it in the trash asap! 17 min run, fairly hard on the gas but not wfo the entire time, new tru cool radiator, new water pump, 180 thermostat, huge fan shroud..... my engine doesn't get hot unless I lose the radiator.... radiator still like new and got hotter than he!!.... flattening out after 3500 rpm... will go with a clutch fan eliminator or electric the next run.......

I guess it's personal preference. I like the nylon fans. After running the steel fans and having to replace $250 in rad and water pumps every time something touches the fan I switched to the nylon and I'm happy with how they work (for my set up) all the fans I have run flex at high rpm that's how they are designed. Me personally would rather have my nylon fan break and the water pump keep spinning then the metal fan bend and stop it all together but that's just my preference.

Been running them for years now. Top RPM around 7000-7500. On my old full roller's. Never shredded one that didn't hit something. This year have wrecked 3 of them but cars were bent. But like 8Ball said rather throw fan then lock up water pump or belt or rad. Atleast I still had water. Everytime had no idea it was gone till it was over...16 dollars a crack Is sweet...
