2015 MONROE COUNTY FAIR DEMOLITION DERBY
Friday July 31, 2015 7:30pm
Saturday August 1, 2015 7:30pm
Inspection and registration at north end of arena, 4:00pm until 1 hour before scheduled start of event.
No late registration or inspection.
A. The Monroe County Demolition Derby is promoted as an unusual spectator attraction. In the interest of safety and the promotion of family values events, anyone entering as a participant (driver or mechanic) or spectator must obey ALL rules and regulations.
B. All cars should be on fairgrounds by 4 pm and through inspection by 6:30 pm. This will be enforced, nonnegotiable. No black cars allowed.
C. Each driver must fill out an official entry form and sign a liability release form before car is inspected. All drivers must supply their own cars. Only one entry per person unless otherwise specified. Men and women will run in same class, no powderpuff.
D. Each driver must be 18 yrs. of age and hold a valid driver’s license. Drivers less than 18 yrs. of age must have a notarized release signed by legal parent/guardian.
E. The Monroe County Demolition Committee or their appointed representative, reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries.
F. One driver and one mechanic will be admitted with each paid entry. Each entry fee is $25.00 and is nonrefundable, even if your car does not pass inspection.
G. All drivers must attend drivers meeting before show starts.
H. No cars permitted on track before their assigned event. Succeeding heat is to line up inside fenced area while preceding heat is on track.
I. Cars may be re-inspected at any time and/or as many times as promoter deems necessary.
J. Promoter reserves the right to assign heats.
K. Monroe County Fairgrounds is a NO ALCOHOL area. Anyone caught with alcoholic beverages or intoxicated shall be ejected from Fairgrounds. NO APPEAL
FULL SIZE MODIFIED
PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS
1. Type of Cars: Any year sedan or station wagon EXCEPT trucks, vans, carryalls, 4x4's, imperials, checker cabs, and 2003 or newer Fords, Lincolns, and Mercury’s. You may run a convertible as long as a metal car roof has been installed without reinforcing the body of the car.
******NO 03 AND UP FORDS, LINCOLNS, & MERCURYS********
2. Drivers must wear long sleeve shirts, long pants, safety belts, DOT approved helmet, appropriate shoes, and goggles or a face shield. Approved safety glasses will be allowed. An approved neck support, gloves, and fire suits are strongly encouraged, but not mandatory.
3. All glass, plastic, trim, lights and upholstery must be removed before entering Fairgrounds. Autos must be swept clean of all debris and parts. No mirrors allowed.
4. Heats will be assigned by staff and will be a course of elimination heats to advance to the feature. More than likely this will be one shot deal.
5. Do not get out of your vehicle unless you are told to do so by an official while you are competing in the arena
area. Drivers must remain with their vehicles until they are removed from the arena.
6. No pit crews allowed on the track at any time. This will result in disqualification and forfeit of any prize money.
7. All cars must have a working seat belt for the driver’s seat and it must be on during the event. If driver is caught without seat belt on they will be disqualified.
8. NO DRIVERS DOOR HITS: However, we all know that accidents do happen. If it looks intentional you will be disqualified. Do not use your driver’s door as a shield.
9. No Sandbagging. You will be warned once and disqualified the second time.
10. Fires: Depending on what type of fire it is, you will be out. Rollovers: We hope this does not occur and at the first sign of a car rolling over you need to get out of the gas and stop the car. OFFICIALS DECISIONS ARE FINAL: NO UNSPORTSMAN LIKE CONDUCT WILL BE TOLORATED. Arrest or removal from the fairground property will occur.
11. Batteries must be secured in the front passenger floor area with a cover. Gas tanks must be removed from all vehicles and a smaller gas tank re-located in the back seat floor area. Boat tank or fuel cell recommended. NO PLASTIC GAS TANKS.
12. Steering column does not have to be a stock OEM column.
13. Transmission coolers are allowed in the driver/passenger area. Metal or High pressure lines only!
14. In station wagons all rear seats and deck lids must be removed before arrival to fairgrounds.
15. Any type car engine can be swapped.
16. Engine mounts: may be reinforced or homemade engine mounts. They cannot reinforce the frame in any way. Do not weld engine chains to the frame (must be bolted) unless it is on the engine cradle. Any skid plates must be welded to the pans only. Engine cradles and trans. cradles are allowed but cannot reinforce frame. Homemade angle type cross-members are allowed.
17. Bumper: Any car bumper can be put on any derby car. Due to the high cost of bumpers you may stuff the inside of the front bumper only or take a 4x4 piece of square tubing and put a bumper skin on it (front only). Do not do this to the rear bumper. Bumper brackets can be welded to the frame. DO NOT PUT REAR BUMPER BRACKETS ON THE FRONT. Do not move bumper brackets from stock location. Bumpers can be held on by #9 wire in four spots to sheet metal. *If you use shocks to mount bumper they must be the same as car GM with GM, Mopar with Mopar, Ford with Ford. No ibeam shocks on crown vics, etc., and same style as what came from the factory for that year. Bumper height for the rear is 16 inches from the ground to the bottom of the bumper. Bumper height for the front is 22 inches from the ground to the bottom of the bumper.
18. Suspensions: Five lug rear-end only. Must be mounted like it was there from factory. No braces from rear-end to body or frame besides factory mounting. Chains on rear-end are fine. Back braces are okay as long as there are 4 inches from frame pre-race. Coil springs stay coil and leaf springs stay leaf. You are allowed to strut rear-end and car does not have to bounce.
*You may weld a 2x2 inch strap on both sides of the a-frame or have a bolt welded to the frame to bolt a-frame solid for height due to bad coil springs. Reinforced or homemade tie rods are allowed and all thread is allowed for rear shocks. A-frame straps may not reinforce frame or will be made to cut.
19. If you have a leaf spring vehicle no more than 5 springs and they must have stagger (you may have a spring the same size as the main leaf). NO WELDING ON OR PLUG WELDED LEAF SPRINGS! No cold rolled steel for springs. 6 clamps per side. You may remove shackle and bolt direct top leaf in frame.
20. Control arms can be reinforced or you may make your own but must be stock size. They may be shortened or added too. Do not remove and re-weld 97 and newer lower contrail arm assembly must be stock location on frame.
21. Tires: No tires bigger than a 16, any ply rating and does not have to be D.O.T. No studded tires. Tire inside of a tire is okay. No split rims. Valve stem protectors are okay. You may weld new centers into rims to make them fit your car.
22. Car frames: You may weld the top seam from front bumper to a-arm only. On suicide Lincolns you may only weld the top seam from the a-arms forward. One 22 inch arch plate allowed per side on rear (must be contoured to the frame). Split rail rear frames may be boxed in with the same thickness of metal (no bigger than 1/4 inch). This includes 73 and older GMs. You may box in c channel frame rails on 73 and older GMs but leave an inspection hole for inspectors to scope.*1960s and older Fords, Lincolns, and Mercury’s can have a 22 inch arch plate.
23. One a pre-ran you can have 4 – 4 inch by 6 inch plates anywhere on the frame as long as it is damaged. Only 2 if not damaged. A fresh car can have two 4 inch by 6 inch plates anywhere on the frame. Do not run 4x6 plates
together, space 4 inches between. THIS INCLUDES ARCH PLATES. Thickness on all plates - 1/4 inch. If you weld washer your steering box holes this is one plate used.
24. Body bolts no bigger than 3/4 inch. Do not go all the way through the frame (stock type mounting) CAN BE MOUNTED SOLID W/no rubber (body & frame). No bigger than 4 inch washer inside frame. If you have rusted out frame holes. You are allowed a 3 inch washer to cover 1/4 inch thickness. Do not slide bodies on derby cars. They must remain in the stock position. Do not re-skin or double any metal on car bodies. If you have rusted out body mounts use the same thickness to fix. Do not get carried away or you will cut it.
25. Frames: No tilting or pitching. No additional welding on FORD crush boxes. Frames will be GM Corporation to GM Corp., Ford Corp. to Ford Corp., Chrysler Corp. to Chrysler Corp. and car bodies will match the same manufacture as well. In other words do not put a Chevy clip in your Ford or a whole frame swap into another car manufacture. NO HYBRIDS = Clipping cars no newer or older frame swaps 60's clip in you 90's car. Must be same year swap. You may NOT change out ford aluminum cradles with a ford steel one.
26. You are responsible for removing any debris on the frame (such as mud, grass, oil, or paint) before you arrive to be inspected. Do not re-paint your frame or undercoat it. It will make for a long day for YOU to clean it off for the officials to inspect your car.
27. Cages: No pipe or square tubing bigger than 4 inch. Can be mounted to the frame or body, no more than 4 legs. Legs cannot go inside the frame or NEAR crush boxes on FORDS. Legs must be straight down with no angle & in the driver’s compartment only. Rear bar behind seat must accompany the down leg. Rear down leg no farther back past rear floor pans. No plates to be welded on top of frame or sheet metal. Cage legs to be welded to top of frame only (this means no wrapping material around frame). Top means top. Overhead bar cannot be angled and will be near the driver’s helmet area.
28. A hole may be drilled in your cowl/dash area during inspection to make sure no extra metal is in it! Do not weld your dash bar to the cowl dash area. Dash bar must be over the stock location of where the steering column mount was. *No cage material inside of doors.
29. Gas tank protectors must be inside the frames rails on all cars and 8 inches away from sheet metal before race starts.
30. *DO NOT PUT PIPES OR ANYTHING ELSE INSIDE THE FRAME* If anything extra is found you will not be allowed to run period and will forfeit entry and or prize money!
31. Window bar for gas tank protector may be connected to top of the car and no closer than two inches from the trunk. Two bars 6 inches on both sides from center of car must be from sheet metal on roof to sheet metal on speaker deck, must be at least 1 foot away from roof sign or up and over bar. 1 inch rebar or all thread is preferred (this is for safety not for reinforcing.)
32. Front window bars cannot touch dash bar or distributor protector. Can only to touch sheet metal on roof of car to fire wall sheet metal. Anything gaudy or over kill will be removed. 1 inch rebar or all thread is preferred (this is for safety not for reinforcing.)
33. Doors and Trunk: Can be welded solid with 2 inch strap. No seam welding on the body period.
34. Trunks: May be welded, chained, or wired. You cannot use all three, only ONE...You can use all thread for your body mounts, bolts must be inside the frame but cannot be through trunk lid or any other material (i.e. nut – washer – frame – body – washer – nut). Trunk must not be welded to the trunk floor in anyway. *TRUNK LID MUST BE 12 INCHES FROM THE FLOOR ALL THE WAY ACROSS* A 12 inch by 12 inch hole will be cut in the trunk for inspection.*(All QUARTER PANELS WILL REMAIN STRAIGHT OTHER THEN CREASING)*
35. Hoods: May be fastened down in 6 spots w/bolts, wire, or chain. All thread may be used for the core support holes. The other 4 will be sheet metal to sheet metal. Hood must be open for inspection and located in stock position. No bending in front of the radiator. All thread can be ran through hood at core support only, must not stick up the above hood more than 4 inches. Hood must have at least 12 inch by 12 inch holes cut on each side of the carb. Ten 1/4 inch bolts allowed on hood.
36. Mandatory: All derby cars must have numbers on both driver and passenger doors. Your name should appear on driver’s side door or top of car near driver’s door. An 18 x 18 roof sign is mandatory but cannot reinforce the car. NO black cars.
37. Cars will operate in a safe manner during the heat and feature events. If a derby car appears to be at risk of injury to the driver, spectators, or officials you may be disqualified. (Example: doors torn off exposing driver)
38. Inspection will occur before your car runs in its assigned heat. It will be subject to re-inspection at any time until feature is over, with the exception of the winning car.
39. On 1978 or older cars you can have 4 body bolts anywhere you choose.
40. Cap protectors: Your cap protector can touch sheet metal but must be 6 inches from dash bar if you cut away the firewall. You will not be allowed to run if your protector is touching your dash bar.
41. You may have 8 bolts over each wheel wells for the quarters, no extra bracing just bolts and washers.
42. Core support and all thread: You may weld the core support to the fenders (do not add anything) "no plates". On the fords "guys are sticking pipe or square tubing to jack up the core support" this is ok and you can weld the pipe or square down to the frame so it is not sloppy (nothing bigger than 2 inches on pipe or square).
43. NO KICKERS anywhere.
44. You will not be allowed to hold anyone on or against a wall or other car while another car hits it. No pushing a car out of the area, this includes over the walls. If you get pushed over a wall you will be helped off wall and back in the race. Race will not end on holding. If you aggressively hit a car on a wall you will be disqualified.
45. Cutting torches or welders in pit area must have fire suppression of some type, i.e. fire extinguisher, pressurized water, sand, etc.

FULL SIZE PURE STOCK
PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS
1. Any stock hardtop auto or station wagon is allowed. No Imperials, trucks, jeeps, limos, 4-wheel drives, or ambulances will be allowed.
2. Drivers must wear long sleeve shirts, long pants, safety belts, DOT approved helmet, appropriate shoes, and goggles or a face shield. Approved safety glasses will be allowed. An approved neck support, gloves, and fire suits are strongly encouraged, but not mandatory.
3. All glass, trim, and upholstery must be removed before entering fairgrounds. Autos must be swept clean of all debris and parts. No mirrors allowed.
4. Gas tank: original gas tank must be removed. A marine type gas tank to be mounted in the back seat area secured with metal strapping. Plastic tanks need to be secured in a manner so they will not collapse (i.e. accessible wooden or metal box).All lines to have leak proof connections (such as fittings and hose clamps). Taped connections not allowed. Rubber line allowed if new or good quality. Electric fuel pumps allowed but must have shut off switch on dash. 5 gallons of pump gas maximum allowed. All carbs must have breather
covers.
5. Motor and transmission must be same as body and frame manufacturer, (Ford to Ford, General Motors to General Motors, Chrysler to Chrysler, ETC.). Motor mounts must be stock appearing, no engine cradles or fabricated engine supports. All mounts must remain in stock locations. Any factory transmission cross member can be used as long as bolted to frame.
6. Fire wall may have a 6” by 6” hole for distributor if needed. All other holes in fire wall must be patched with sheet metal or aluminum.
7. Radiator must remain in stock position and mounts. #9 wire allowed in three locations from bumper to core supports, no more than three strands per wrap may be located in front of radiator.
8. Suspension must remain free with minimum of 4" free travel. Factory springs only. No truck springs, no spring jacks, no blocked shocks, no air shocks, no kicking of the springs, no pitching and wedging of A-arms or framework allowed. Springs must remain stock for make and year of car. No truck springs or oversized springs.
9. Brakes must remain operable at the beginning of each event. No aftermarket braking systems allowed.
10. Batteries must be relocated to front passenger area of car. Batteries must be secured with all-thread bolts or ratchet straps. Must be covered with splash guard.
11. Tires must have D.O.T. stamp and numbers. Tires must appear to be standard passenger tires no re-caps with tractor type tread. Tires may be filled. Tires must not be more than 8 ply. D.O.T. number and ply rating must be legible on sidewall to be legal or you will not be allowed to use. Grooving of tires and stem protectors allowed.
12. Hood and deck lids must remain operable for initial inspection. Hood must have 12"x20" holes cut on each side of carb. Hood and trunk allowed a maximum of 6 hold downs using #9 wire only (no more than 2 strands per location). A maximum of 3 locations from core support to bumper. Must have front half of hood at all times. Trunks may not be folded into wedge. Tucking of trunk is not allowed.
13. Exhaust pipes penetrating hood must point upward not towards front bumper or driver.
14. Driver’s doors may be fastened shut with #9 wire or welded and plated with one single steel plate that may not extend more than 6” beyond door seams (must be flat metal no sharp edges.) Must have a minimum of 8-1/2" diameter bolts. Other doors may be wired shut with a maximum of two strands of #9 wire per seam.
15. Body seams may not be bolted, screwed, or welded. No rolling tops of doors. Cutting of fenders for tire clearance is allowed. Rubber body mounts must remain stock and unaltered. No smashing of rubber mounts by over tightening. Body must be a minimum of 1" from frame. Body may be secured in 4 locations from center of rear-end to back bumper. May have 3-strands of #9 wire around frame and body. Factory hole in bottom of frame must remain open. Body and bumper must remain in stock position.
16. Bumpers must remain at factory heights. Front and rear bumper must measure no more than 4" difference from bottom of bumper to bottom of bumper. This will be measured from the ground to bottom of bumpers. Bumper must be able to be unbolted. No wedging of rear ends.
17. Frame may not be dimpled. Notching frame is allowed. No chains or #9 wire from frame to rear-end.
18. MANDATORY: One seat bar behind driver’s seat with a 3" maximum diameter pipe or 3” x 3” square tubing with maximum 2- 1/2" bolts with 3" x 3" x 1/4" washers through body on each side. OPTIONAL: In place of mandatory seat bar a cage with four up and down (vertical) bars and one horizontal bar all the way around. A second horizontal bar is allowed only on driver’s side, passenger side, and rear side of cage. No second horizontal bar allowed in dash area due to safety reasons. All cage bars must be 3" maximum in diameter pipe or 3” x 3” square tubing with maximum 2- 1/2" bolts with 3" x 3" x 1/4" washers through body on each side with an up and over bar that must be straight up and down and may not contact frame. Cages and bars must remain in passenger area. Cages may not be welded to frame, bars may be welded to inner sheet metal only or #9 wired to inner door skins. No bars allowed further than 8" behind driver’s seat or further back than rear seat floor pan. No bars allowed further forward than driver’s door seam in dash area. Rear uprights must remain at 90 degree angle to frame (i.e. straight up and down.)
19. Windshield area must have #9 wire, chain, or metal strapping from roof to cowling behind hood to prevent hood from entering driver’s compartment.
20. No aftermarket accessories allowed. Single lever shifter thru floor board to transmission only. These are some examples, gas pedal, distributer protectors, brake systems, carburetor protectors, etc.
21. Driver's door only may be painted white. No obscenities or rude gestures allowed on car. Car must have 18" high numbers on each side and roof of car. An 18 x 18 roof sign is mandatory but cannot reinforce the car. NO black cars.
22. No part of frame or bumpers can be painted or under coated.
23. These rules are intended to be a stock frame and bumper; if it does not appear to be stock or if altered it will not be allowed.
24. All decisions by officials or Fair board shall be final, NO APPEALS.
25. Only drivers participating on track to remain on track at conclusion of that heat, consy, or feature.
26. Drivers may use front end of their car to hit with.
27. Cutting torches or welders in pit area must have fire suppression of some type, examples- fire extinguisher, pressure water, bucket of sand.
28. Welding only in these places: driver door, roll cage, and rear end gears. Any welding on frame will result in the car being refused. Any other welds will result in disqualification.
29. If it is not clearly addressed in these rules it will not be allowed.
30. Promoter or Fair board has the right to claim any car for $800.00 with no exchange. Owner keeps batteries and gas tank only.
31. Cutting torches or welders in pit area must have fire suppression of some type, i.e. fire extinguisher, pressurized water, sand, etc.

MINI-CAR CLASS AND MID SIZE CLASS
PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS
1. Mid-size cars wheelbase shall be over 100" up to 106". NO V-8 ENGINES ALLOWED
2. Mini cars any American made or Foreign made two (2) Wheel drive car. Wheelbase of 100" or less. 4 WHEEL DRIVE CARS NOT ALLOWED, NO V-8 ENGINES ALLOWED
3. Long sleeve shirt, long pants, safety belt, DOT approved helmet, and goggles or face shield mandatory. Approved safety glasses will be allowed.
4. All glass and trim moldings must be removed before entering fairgrounds. Auto must be swept clean of all debris and loose parts. No mirrors are allowed.
5. Original or approved gas tank, such as marine type, must be mounted in back seat area with secure metal fasteners. Plastic tanks need to be secured in a manner so they will not collapse (i.e. accessible wooden or metal box).ALL LINES MUST HAVE LEAKPROOF CONNECTIONS (such as fittings or clamps). Taped connections not
allowed. Gasoline approved rubber lines allowed if new or of good quality, otherwise metal lines with 12" maximum rubber hose connections. Electric fuel pumps allowed but have shut off switch mounted to dash, 3 gallons of fuel max. All carbs must have cover to suppress backfire flames.
6. Body, Frame, and Bumpers to remain stock (o.e.m.) and remain in stock mounts and location. Driver’s door may be plated with a minimum ¼" plate steel not to extend more than 6" past door seams. Welding driver’s door only is allowed. Other doors may be wired shut with maximum two strands of #9 wire per seam. Trailer hitch assemblies must be completely removed. Fire walls must remain intact with holes patched with thin sheet metal.
7. Body seams cannot be screwed, bolted, or welded. Body mount replacement bolts cannot be any larger than original bolt. No supports, braces, or added metal anywhere on car.
8. Radiators must remain in stock position and mounts (tilting allowed). No part of any cooling system allowed behind fire wall.
9. Hood and Deck lid must remain operable for initial inspection. Car must have hood at all times. HOODS MUST HAVE TWO 12 IN. HOLES CUT ON EACH SIDE OF CARB FOR FIRE CREW ACCESS. Hoods and trunks allowed a maximum of 6 hold downs each using #9 wire only (wire is counted by single strands). Maximum 6 strands of #9 wire only are allowed from core support to front bumper. Six strands allowed on rear bumper, BUT MUST NOT ATTACH TO TAILGATES/TRUNK LIDS.
10. Suspension must remain free with a minimum of 4" free travel. Spring jacks, blocked shocks, wedging, reversing shackles are not allowed. Air shocks must have air lines cut.
11. Batteries must be relocated to front passenger area of car. Batteries must be secured with all-thread bolts or ratchet straps. Must be covered with splash guard.
12. Cars must have brakes each and every time car enters track.

14. Any exhaust pipes penetrating hood must point upwards. Must not point toward front, to the side, or at driver.
15. No white cars allowed. Drivers door only to be white. Cars must have BOLD 18" numbers on each side of car and roof. No obscenities allowed on car. An 18 x 18 roof sign is mandatory but cannot reinforce the car. NO black cars.
16. D.O.T. TYPE TIRES ONLY. Fenders may be trimmed for tire clearance. Stem protectors are allowed.
17. All cars must have a vertical safety bar in windshield area or #9 wire, chain, or metal strapping (to keep hood from entering drivers' area).
18. All decisions by officials shall be final. NO APPEALS
19. Only drivers participating on track to remain on track at conclusion of that heat, consy, or feature.
20. Drivers may use front ends of car to hit with.
21. Cutting torches or welders in pit area must have fire suppression of some type, i.e. fire extinguisher, pressurized water, sand, etc.

DISQUALIFICATIONS
A. Intentionally hitting of an opponent’s driver’s door.
B. Blatant team driving will result in all those avoiding hits or holding cars while others are hitting will result in disqualification. This will be a judgment call by officials and as all rulings of officials shall be final.
C. Intentionally hitting a car stuck on logs or on dirt boundary, this is considered a serious matter for the safety of crowd and volunteers.
D. Winners of heats and consy's must be re-inspected at north end of arena before going to pits, if you do not stop for re-inspection before exiting arena you will be disqualified.
E. Intentionally pushing another car out of arena through entrance or exit or holding them from re-entering.
F. Disobeying, arguing, or use of profanity to any official or volunteer may constitute dismissal for the entire event and grounds for expulsion from the fairgrounds and consideration for permanent barring from further competitions at the Monroe County Fairgrounds.
G. Spilling fuel or catching fire (exhaust fire or carburetor fire that is immediately withdrawn on its own is excluded).
H. Flag men may disqualify any vehicle, which, in his/her opinion, constitutes a reasonable safety hazard to the driver, other competitors, or spectators.
I. The derby will be composed of individual heats and one feature, with cash prize going to the winners of each heat and consy's. Feature demolition event will be comprised of winners and co-winners of each heat.
J. Cars must be removed from fairgrounds by 3:00pm on day after show! Any cars remaining on fairgrounds past deadline shall be disposed of by the Demolition Derby Committee. SCAVENGING OF PARTS OR CARS IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN AND WILL BE PROSECUTED WITH LOCAL AUTHOURITIES. Entry blanks can be picked up at the Monroe County Extension office or the Fair Office the week prior and the week of the fair.

A. The Monroe County Demolition Derby is promoted as an unusual spectator attraction. In the interest of safety and the promotion of family values events, anyone entering as a participant (driver or mechanic) or spectator must obey ALL rules and regulations.
B. All cars should be on fairgrounds by 4 pm and through inspection by 6:30 pm. This will be enforced, nonnegotiable. No black cars allowed.
C. Each driver must fill out an official entry form and sign a liability release form before car is inspected. All drivers must supply their own cars. Only one entry per person unless otherwise specified. Men and women will run in same class, no powderpuff.
D. Each driver must be 18 yrs. of age and hold a valid driver’s license. Drivers less than 18 yrs. of age must have a notarized release signed by legal parent/guardian.
E. The Monroe County Demolition Committee or their appointed representative, reserves the right to approve or reject any and all entries.
F. One driver and one mechanic will be admitted with each paid entry. Each entry fee is $25.00 and is nonrefundable, even if your car does not pass inspection.
G. All drivers must attend drivers meeting before show starts.
H. No cars permitted on track before their assigned event. Succeeding heat is to line up inside fenced area while preceding heat is on track.
I. Cars may be re-inspected at any time and/or as many times as promoter deems necessary.
J. Promoter reserves the right to assign heats.
K. Monroe County Fairgrounds is a NO ALCOHOL area. Anyone caught with alcoholic beverages or intoxicated shall be ejected from Fairgrounds. NO APPEAL
FULL SIZE MODIFIED
PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS
1. Type of Cars: Any year sedan or station wagon EXCEPT trucks, vans, carryalls, 4x4's, imperials, checker cabs, and 2003 or newer Fords, Lincolns, and Mercury’s. You may run a convertible as long as a metal car roof has been installed without reinforcing the body of the car.
******NO 03 AND UP FORDS, LINCOLNS, & MERCURYS********
2. Drivers must wear long sleeve shirts, long pants, safety belts, DOT approved helmet, appropriate shoes, and goggles or a face shield. Approved safety glasses will be allowed. An approved neck support, gloves, and fire suits are strongly encouraged, but not mandatory.
3. All glass, plastic, trim, lights and upholstery must be removed before entering Fairgrounds. Autos must be swept clean of all debris and parts. No mirrors allowed.
4. Heats will be assigned by staff and will be a course of elimination heats to advance to the feature. More than likely this will be one shot deal.
5. Do not get out of your vehicle unless you are told to do so by an official while you are competing in the arena
area. Drivers must remain with their vehicles until they are removed from the arena.
6. No pit crews allowed on the track at any time. This will result in disqualification and forfeit of any prize money.
7. All cars must have a working seat belt for the driver’s seat and it must be on during the event. If driver is caught without seat belt on they will be disqualified.
8. NO DRIVERS DOOR HITS: However, we all know that accidents do happen. If it looks intentional you will be disqualified. Do not use your driver’s door as a shield.
9. No Sandbagging. You will be warned once and disqualified the second time.
10. Fires: Depending on what type of fire it is, you will be out. Rollovers: We hope this does not occur and at the first sign of a car rolling over you need to get out of the gas and stop the car. OFFICIALS DECISIONS ARE FINAL: NO UNSPORTSMAN LIKE CONDUCT WILL BE TOLORATED. Arrest or removal from the fairground property will occur.
11. Batteries must be secured in the front passenger floor area with a cover. Gas tanks must be removed from all vehicles and a smaller gas tank re-located in the back seat floor area. Boat tank or fuel cell recommended. NO PLASTIC GAS TANKS.
12. Steering column does not have to be a stock OEM column.
13. Transmission coolers are allowed in the driver/passenger area. Metal or High pressure lines only!
14. In station wagons all rear seats and deck lids must be removed before arrival to fairgrounds.
15. Any type car engine can be swapped.
16. Engine mounts: may be reinforced or homemade engine mounts. They cannot reinforce the frame in any way. Do not weld engine chains to the frame (must be bolted) unless it is on the engine cradle. Any skid plates must be welded to the pans only. Engine cradles and trans. cradles are allowed but cannot reinforce frame. Homemade angle type cross-members are allowed.
17. Bumper: Any car bumper can be put on any derby car. Due to the high cost of bumpers you may stuff the inside of the front bumper only or take a 4x4 piece of square tubing and put a bumper skin on it (front only). Do not do this to the rear bumper. Bumper brackets can be welded to the frame. DO NOT PUT REAR BUMPER BRACKETS ON THE FRONT. Do not move bumper brackets from stock location. Bumpers can be held on by #9 wire in four spots to sheet metal. *If you use shocks to mount bumper they must be the same as car GM with GM, Mopar with Mopar, Ford with Ford. No ibeam shocks on crown vics, etc., and same style as what came from the factory for that year. Bumper height for the rear is 16 inches from the ground to the bottom of the bumper. Bumper height for the front is 22 inches from the ground to the bottom of the bumper.
18. Suspensions: Five lug rear-end only. Must be mounted like it was there from factory. No braces from rear-end to body or frame besides factory mounting. Chains on rear-end are fine. Back braces are okay as long as there are 4 inches from frame pre-race. Coil springs stay coil and leaf springs stay leaf. You are allowed to strut rear-end and car does not have to bounce.
*You may weld a 2x2 inch strap on both sides of the a-frame or have a bolt welded to the frame to bolt a-frame solid for height due to bad coil springs. Reinforced or homemade tie rods are allowed and all thread is allowed for rear shocks. A-frame straps may not reinforce frame or will be made to cut.
19. If you have a leaf spring vehicle no more than 5 springs and they must have stagger (you may have a spring the same size as the main leaf). NO WELDING ON OR PLUG WELDED LEAF SPRINGS! No cold rolled steel for springs. 6 clamps per side. You may remove shackle and bolt direct top leaf in frame.
20. Control arms can be reinforced or you may make your own but must be stock size. They may be shortened or added too. Do not remove and re-weld 97 and newer lower contrail arm assembly must be stock location on frame.
21. Tires: No tires bigger than a 16, any ply rating and does not have to be D.O.T. No studded tires. Tire inside of a tire is okay. No split rims. Valve stem protectors are okay. You may weld new centers into rims to make them fit your car.
22. Car frames: You may weld the top seam from front bumper to a-arm only. On suicide Lincolns you may only weld the top seam from the a-arms forward. One 22 inch arch plate allowed per side on rear (must be contoured to the frame). Split rail rear frames may be boxed in with the same thickness of metal (no bigger than 1/4 inch). This includes 73 and older GMs. You may box in c channel frame rails on 73 and older GMs but leave an inspection hole for inspectors to scope.*1960s and older Fords, Lincolns, and Mercury’s can have a 22 inch arch plate.
23. One a pre-ran you can have 4 – 4 inch by 6 inch plates anywhere on the frame as long as it is damaged. Only 2 if not damaged. A fresh car can have two 4 inch by 6 inch plates anywhere on the frame. Do not run 4x6 plates
together, space 4 inches between. THIS INCLUDES ARCH PLATES. Thickness on all plates - 1/4 inch. If you weld washer your steering box holes this is one plate used.
24. Body bolts no bigger than 3/4 inch. Do not go all the way through the frame (stock type mounting) CAN BE MOUNTED SOLID W/no rubber (body & frame). No bigger than 4 inch washer inside frame. If you have rusted out frame holes. You are allowed a 3 inch washer to cover 1/4 inch thickness. Do not slide bodies on derby cars. They must remain in the stock position. Do not re-skin or double any metal on car bodies. If you have rusted out body mounts use the same thickness to fix. Do not get carried away or you will cut it.
25. Frames: No tilting or pitching. No additional welding on FORD crush boxes. Frames will be GM Corporation to GM Corp., Ford Corp. to Ford Corp., Chrysler Corp. to Chrysler Corp. and car bodies will match the same manufacture as well. In other words do not put a Chevy clip in your Ford or a whole frame swap into another car manufacture. NO HYBRIDS = Clipping cars no newer or older frame swaps 60's clip in you 90's car. Must be same year swap. You may NOT change out ford aluminum cradles with a ford steel one.
26. You are responsible for removing any debris on the frame (such as mud, grass, oil, or paint) before you arrive to be inspected. Do not re-paint your frame or undercoat it. It will make for a long day for YOU to clean it off for the officials to inspect your car.
27. Cages: No pipe or square tubing bigger than 4 inch. Can be mounted to the frame or body, no more than 4 legs. Legs cannot go inside the frame or NEAR crush boxes on FORDS. Legs must be straight down with no angle & in the driver’s compartment only. Rear bar behind seat must accompany the down leg. Rear down leg no farther back past rear floor pans. No plates to be welded on top of frame or sheet metal. Cage legs to be welded to top of frame only (this means no wrapping material around frame). Top means top. Overhead bar cannot be angled and will be near the driver’s helmet area.
28. A hole may be drilled in your cowl/dash area during inspection to make sure no extra metal is in it! Do not weld your dash bar to the cowl dash area. Dash bar must be over the stock location of where the steering column mount was. *No cage material inside of doors.
29. Gas tank protectors must be inside the frames rails on all cars and 8 inches away from sheet metal before race starts.
30. *DO NOT PUT PIPES OR ANYTHING ELSE INSIDE THE FRAME* If anything extra is found you will not be allowed to run period and will forfeit entry and or prize money!
31. Window bar for gas tank protector may be connected to top of the car and no closer than two inches from the trunk. Two bars 6 inches on both sides from center of car must be from sheet metal on roof to sheet metal on speaker deck, must be at least 1 foot away from roof sign or up and over bar. 1 inch rebar or all thread is preferred (this is for safety not for reinforcing.)
32. Front window bars cannot touch dash bar or distributor protector. Can only to touch sheet metal on roof of car to fire wall sheet metal. Anything gaudy or over kill will be removed. 1 inch rebar or all thread is preferred (this is for safety not for reinforcing.)
33. Doors and Trunk: Can be welded solid with 2 inch strap. No seam welding on the body period.
34. Trunks: May be welded, chained, or wired. You cannot use all three, only ONE...You can use all thread for your body mounts, bolts must be inside the frame but cannot be through trunk lid or any other material (i.e. nut – washer – frame – body – washer – nut). Trunk must not be welded to the trunk floor in anyway. *TRUNK LID MUST BE 12 INCHES FROM THE FLOOR ALL THE WAY ACROSS* A 12 inch by 12 inch hole will be cut in the trunk for inspection.*(All QUARTER PANELS WILL REMAIN STRAIGHT OTHER THEN CREASING)*
35. Hoods: May be fastened down in 6 spots w/bolts, wire, or chain. All thread may be used for the core support holes. The other 4 will be sheet metal to sheet metal. Hood must be open for inspection and located in stock position. No bending in front of the radiator. All thread can be ran through hood at core support only, must not stick up the above hood more than 4 inches. Hood must have at least 12 inch by 12 inch holes cut on each side of the carb. Ten 1/4 inch bolts allowed on hood.
36. Mandatory: All derby cars must have numbers on both driver and passenger doors. Your name should appear on driver’s side door or top of car near driver’s door. An 18 x 18 roof sign is mandatory but cannot reinforce the car. NO black cars.
37. Cars will operate in a safe manner during the heat and feature events. If a derby car appears to be at risk of injury to the driver, spectators, or officials you may be disqualified. (Example: doors torn off exposing driver)
38. Inspection will occur before your car runs in its assigned heat. It will be subject to re-inspection at any time until feature is over, with the exception of the winning car.
39. On 1978 or older cars you can have 4 body bolts anywhere you choose.
40. Cap protectors: Your cap protector can touch sheet metal but must be 6 inches from dash bar if you cut away the firewall. You will not be allowed to run if your protector is touching your dash bar.
41. You may have 8 bolts over each wheel wells for the quarters, no extra bracing just bolts and washers.
42. Core support and all thread: You may weld the core support to the fenders (do not add anything) "no plates". On the fords "guys are sticking pipe or square tubing to jack up the core support" this is ok and you can weld the pipe or square down to the frame so it is not sloppy (nothing bigger than 2 inches on pipe or square).
43. NO KICKERS anywhere.
44. You will not be allowed to hold anyone on or against a wall or other car while another car hits it. No pushing a car out of the area, this includes over the walls. If you get pushed over a wall you will be helped off wall and back in the race. Race will not end on holding. If you aggressively hit a car on a wall you will be disqualified.
45. Cutting torches or welders in pit area must have fire suppression of some type, i.e. fire extinguisher, pressurized water, sand, etc.

FULL SIZE PURE STOCK
PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS
1. Any stock hardtop auto or station wagon is allowed. No Imperials, trucks, jeeps, limos, 4-wheel drives, or ambulances will be allowed.
2. Drivers must wear long sleeve shirts, long pants, safety belts, DOT approved helmet, appropriate shoes, and goggles or a face shield. Approved safety glasses will be allowed. An approved neck support, gloves, and fire suits are strongly encouraged, but not mandatory.
3. All glass, trim, and upholstery must be removed before entering fairgrounds. Autos must be swept clean of all debris and parts. No mirrors allowed.
4. Gas tank: original gas tank must be removed. A marine type gas tank to be mounted in the back seat area secured with metal strapping. Plastic tanks need to be secured in a manner so they will not collapse (i.e. accessible wooden or metal box).All lines to have leak proof connections (such as fittings and hose clamps). Taped connections not allowed. Rubber line allowed if new or good quality. Electric fuel pumps allowed but must have shut off switch on dash. 5 gallons of pump gas maximum allowed. All carbs must have breather
covers.
5. Motor and transmission must be same as body and frame manufacturer, (Ford to Ford, General Motors to General Motors, Chrysler to Chrysler, ETC.). Motor mounts must be stock appearing, no engine cradles or fabricated engine supports. All mounts must remain in stock locations. Any factory transmission cross member can be used as long as bolted to frame.
6. Fire wall may have a 6” by 6” hole for distributor if needed. All other holes in fire wall must be patched with sheet metal or aluminum.
7. Radiator must remain in stock position and mounts. #9 wire allowed in three locations from bumper to core supports, no more than three strands per wrap may be located in front of radiator.
8. Suspension must remain free with minimum of 4" free travel. Factory springs only. No truck springs, no spring jacks, no blocked shocks, no air shocks, no kicking of the springs, no pitching and wedging of A-arms or framework allowed. Springs must remain stock for make and year of car. No truck springs or oversized springs.
9. Brakes must remain operable at the beginning of each event. No aftermarket braking systems allowed.
10. Batteries must be relocated to front passenger area of car. Batteries must be secured with all-thread bolts or ratchet straps. Must be covered with splash guard.
11. Tires must have D.O.T. stamp and numbers. Tires must appear to be standard passenger tires no re-caps with tractor type tread. Tires may be filled. Tires must not be more than 8 ply. D.O.T. number and ply rating must be legible on sidewall to be legal or you will not be allowed to use. Grooving of tires and stem protectors allowed.
12. Hood and deck lids must remain operable for initial inspection. Hood must have 12"x20" holes cut on each side of carb. Hood and trunk allowed a maximum of 6 hold downs using #9 wire only (no more than 2 strands per location). A maximum of 3 locations from core support to bumper. Must have front half of hood at all times. Trunks may not be folded into wedge. Tucking of trunk is not allowed.
13. Exhaust pipes penetrating hood must point upward not towards front bumper or driver.
14. Driver’s doors may be fastened shut with #9 wire or welded and plated with one single steel plate that may not extend more than 6” beyond door seams (must be flat metal no sharp edges.) Must have a minimum of 8-1/2" diameter bolts. Other doors may be wired shut with a maximum of two strands of #9 wire per seam.
15. Body seams may not be bolted, screwed, or welded. No rolling tops of doors. Cutting of fenders for tire clearance is allowed. Rubber body mounts must remain stock and unaltered. No smashing of rubber mounts by over tightening. Body must be a minimum of 1" from frame. Body may be secured in 4 locations from center of rear-end to back bumper. May have 3-strands of #9 wire around frame and body. Factory hole in bottom of frame must remain open. Body and bumper must remain in stock position.
16. Bumpers must remain at factory heights. Front and rear bumper must measure no more than 4" difference from bottom of bumper to bottom of bumper. This will be measured from the ground to bottom of bumpers. Bumper must be able to be unbolted. No wedging of rear ends.
17. Frame may not be dimpled. Notching frame is allowed. No chains or #9 wire from frame to rear-end.
18. MANDATORY: One seat bar behind driver’s seat with a 3" maximum diameter pipe or 3” x 3” square tubing with maximum 2- 1/2" bolts with 3" x 3" x 1/4" washers through body on each side. OPTIONAL: In place of mandatory seat bar a cage with four up and down (vertical) bars and one horizontal bar all the way around. A second horizontal bar is allowed only on driver’s side, passenger side, and rear side of cage. No second horizontal bar allowed in dash area due to safety reasons. All cage bars must be 3" maximum in diameter pipe or 3” x 3” square tubing with maximum 2- 1/2" bolts with 3" x 3" x 1/4" washers through body on each side with an up and over bar that must be straight up and down and may not contact frame. Cages and bars must remain in passenger area. Cages may not be welded to frame, bars may be welded to inner sheet metal only or #9 wired to inner door skins. No bars allowed further than 8" behind driver’s seat or further back than rear seat floor pan. No bars allowed further forward than driver’s door seam in dash area. Rear uprights must remain at 90 degree angle to frame (i.e. straight up and down.)
19. Windshield area must have #9 wire, chain, or metal strapping from roof to cowling behind hood to prevent hood from entering driver’s compartment.
20. No aftermarket accessories allowed. Single lever shifter thru floor board to transmission only. These are some examples, gas pedal, distributer protectors, brake systems, carburetor protectors, etc.
21. Driver's door only may be painted white. No obscenities or rude gestures allowed on car. Car must have 18" high numbers on each side and roof of car. An 18 x 18 roof sign is mandatory but cannot reinforce the car. NO black cars.
22. No part of frame or bumpers can be painted or under coated.
23. These rules are intended to be a stock frame and bumper; if it does not appear to be stock or if altered it will not be allowed.
24. All decisions by officials or Fair board shall be final, NO APPEALS.
25. Only drivers participating on track to remain on track at conclusion of that heat, consy, or feature.
26. Drivers may use front end of their car to hit with.
27. Cutting torches or welders in pit area must have fire suppression of some type, examples- fire extinguisher, pressure water, bucket of sand.
28. Welding only in these places: driver door, roll cage, and rear end gears. Any welding on frame will result in the car being refused. Any other welds will result in disqualification.
29. If it is not clearly addressed in these rules it will not be allowed.
30. Promoter or Fair board has the right to claim any car for $800.00 with no exchange. Owner keeps batteries and gas tank only.
31. Cutting torches or welders in pit area must have fire suppression of some type, i.e. fire extinguisher, pressurized water, sand, etc.

MINI-CAR CLASS AND MID SIZE CLASS
PARTICIPATION REGULATIONS
1. Mid-size cars wheelbase shall be over 100" up to 106". NO V-8 ENGINES ALLOWED
2. Mini cars any American made or Foreign made two (2) Wheel drive car. Wheelbase of 100" or less. 4 WHEEL DRIVE CARS NOT ALLOWED, NO V-8 ENGINES ALLOWED
3. Long sleeve shirt, long pants, safety belt, DOT approved helmet, and goggles or face shield mandatory. Approved safety glasses will be allowed.
4. All glass and trim moldings must be removed before entering fairgrounds. Auto must be swept clean of all debris and loose parts. No mirrors are allowed.
5. Original or approved gas tank, such as marine type, must be mounted in back seat area with secure metal fasteners. Plastic tanks need to be secured in a manner so they will not collapse (i.e. accessible wooden or metal box).ALL LINES MUST HAVE LEAKPROOF CONNECTIONS (such as fittings or clamps). Taped connections not
allowed. Gasoline approved rubber lines allowed if new or of good quality, otherwise metal lines with 12" maximum rubber hose connections. Electric fuel pumps allowed but have shut off switch mounted to dash, 3 gallons of fuel max. All carbs must have cover to suppress backfire flames.
6. Body, Frame, and Bumpers to remain stock (o.e.m.) and remain in stock mounts and location. Driver’s door may be plated with a minimum ¼" plate steel not to extend more than 6" past door seams. Welding driver’s door only is allowed. Other doors may be wired shut with maximum two strands of #9 wire per seam. Trailer hitch assemblies must be completely removed. Fire walls must remain intact with holes patched with thin sheet metal.
7. Body seams cannot be screwed, bolted, or welded. Body mount replacement bolts cannot be any larger than original bolt. No supports, braces, or added metal anywhere on car.
8. Radiators must remain in stock position and mounts (tilting allowed). No part of any cooling system allowed behind fire wall.
9. Hood and Deck lid must remain operable for initial inspection. Car must have hood at all times. HOODS MUST HAVE TWO 12 IN. HOLES CUT ON EACH SIDE OF CARB FOR FIRE CREW ACCESS. Hoods and trunks allowed a maximum of 6 hold downs each using #9 wire only (wire is counted by single strands). Maximum 6 strands of #9 wire only are allowed from core support to front bumper. Six strands allowed on rear bumper, BUT MUST NOT ATTACH TO TAILGATES/TRUNK LIDS.
10. Suspension must remain free with a minimum of 4" free travel. Spring jacks, blocked shocks, wedging, reversing shackles are not allowed. Air shocks must have air lines cut.
11. Batteries must be relocated to front passenger area of car. Batteries must be secured with all-thread bolts or ratchet straps. Must be covered with splash guard.
12. Cars must have brakes each and every time car enters track.
13. MANDATORY: One seat bar behind driver’s seat with a 3" maximum diameter pipe or 3” x 3” square tubing with maximum 2- 1/2" bolts with 3" x 3" x 1/4" washers through body on each side. 16. D.O.T. TYPE TIRES ONLY. Fenders may be trimmed for tire clearance. Stem protectors are allowed.
17. All cars must have a vertical safety bar in windshield area or #9 wire, chain, or metal strapping (to keep hood from entering drivers' area).
18. All decisions by officials shall be final. NO APPEALS

DISQUALIFICATIONS
A. Intentionally hitting of an opponent’s driver’s door.
B. Blatant team driving will result in all those avoiding hits or holding cars while others are hitting will result in disqualification. This will be a judgment call by officials and as all rulings of officials shall be final.
C. Intentionally hitting a car stuck on logs or on dirt boundary, this is considered a serious matter for the safety of crowd and volunteers.
D. Winners of heats and consy's must be re-inspected at north end of arena before going to pits, if you do not stop for re-inspection before exiting arena you will be disqualified.
E. Intentionally pushing another car out of arena through entrance or exit or holding them from re-entering.
F. Disobeying, arguing, or use of profanity to any official or volunteer may constitute dismissal for the entire event and grounds for expulsion from the fairgrounds and consideration for permanent barring from further competitions at the Monroe County Fairgrounds.
G. Spilling fuel or catching fire (exhaust fire or carburetor fire that is immediately withdrawn on its own is excluded).
H. Flag men may disqualify any vehicle, which, in his/her opinion, constitutes a reasonable safety hazard to the driver, other competitors, or spectators.
I. The derby will be composed of individual heats and one feature, with cash prize going to the winners of each heat and consy's. Feature demolition event will be comprised of winners and co-winners of each heat.
J. Cars must be removed from fairgrounds by 3:00pm on day after show! Any cars remaining on fairgrounds past deadline shall be disposed of by the Demolition Derby Committee. SCAVENGING OF PARTS OR CARS IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN AND WILL BE PROSECUTED WITH LOCAL AUTHOURITIES. Entry blanks can be picked up at the Monroe County Extension office or the Fair Office the week prior and the week of the fair.
