I getting excited about this show. Last 2 years the derby had broken the all time attendance record at the Huron County Fair. I expect an even bigger turn out with the new rules and payout increases. Our goal is to make this the biggest and best county fair derby in Ohio.

The drivers put all the butts in the seats so you guys should have no entry fee to drive in this show. Might even get more cars to show up! Just a thought.

The drivers put all the butts in the seats so you guys should have no entry fee to drive in this show. Might even get more cars to show up! Just a thought. We could do that Mike, but all the entry money goes back to pay out the winners. Without the driver's contributions, the payout would not be nearly what it is. Figure 100 cars at $50 entry = $5000. The fair makes money on the derby, no doubt, but there is quite a bit of cost associated with the derby. It costs about $1000 just to run all the lights on the infield for the night. That is why the October show is early so we don't have the turn the lights on. Last couple years, the fair brought in about $26,000 at the gates for admission. So, $26,000 - $5000 (derby entrants) - $10,000 additional payouts - $1,000 lights = $10,000 profit (minus overhead and other related expenses). If this was just a derby, there would be room to reduce costs on the driver's/participants side. But this is a 7 day fair, some other events such as the country concert, tractor pull, ect, are negative. The goal of the Fair is to break even. The derby and all the sponsors helps them accomplish this. The derby is one of the money makers, which is why it was not a problem to get the payout increase approved for this year. You typically bring home money anyways Mike! What are you complaining about!! Haha. All joking aside, thank you to all the drivers, builders and participants. Without you, this fair and Demolition Derby would not be what it is. You can't win them all, but if you stick with it, you will get in the winner's circle eventually. Plus, it is suppose to fun. Hell, $50 entry is cheap for the adrenaline rush and satisfaction of running into someone that pisses you off. Money well spent in my eyes and I would do it as often as I can.

I understand that there is alot of cost to put on a derby and I was not complaining. It is worth the 50 bucks to hit someone that pisses you off but, your not running anymore! lol It was just a thought, keep up the good work!
