If you can get them cheap enough to make a few bucks. I doubt they bring much more then scrap price. Although the parts seem to sell well on ebay. If they have motors in them the Caddy 472s and 500 have the desirable oil pans, sumps and pick up tubes for people to put the caddy motors in other cars. The carbs off the big blocks seem to sell. And the non-egr intakes sell too. Caddy anything seems to sell on ebay.
I have thought that as wire demos become more popular that these cars may become more popular. They are easy to convert to rear drive and look like the nose would be tough. If the object is to junk cars then they would work fine.

Obsessed. I have 3 of these from the 70s. I raced one front wheel drive in figure 8s. Rearend is the same as any 70s gm, minus the housing. There is plenty of room for a housing. Plenty of room in the cradle to fab in a 350. Guy I raced against stuck in a 350 in a 70s eldo. Remove the front axles, turn up the torsion bars. Hardest part would be is removing the metal and making a trans and shaft tunnel. Easily done with a welder and thin sheet metal. If I wasnt lazy I would do one and take pics. Now I dont want to make this seem like its a weekend project but it can be done. mIght as well demo these cars before they get junked.

I'am not saying it can't be done.....but it dam sure won't be easy.......I to have ran many of these, with alot of success.......ran my first one in the early 80s.......they are good derby cars, easy and cheaper to find......but I wouldn't want to give a young guy the idea that it is easy to convert 2 rear drive

Also according to that, and other websites, the 71-76 Eldorados have the same exact frame (the E-chasis) as same year Regals (despite being converted to front wheel drive in both the Eldorado and Tornado editions). honestly that wouldnt be possible as the regal was not produced until 1973 and was a coil/coil suspension car while the eldo and toro cars were torsion bar/coil and earlier toros were tosion/leaf suspension. i seriously would like to see pictures of anyone who claims to have converted one to rwd and see how they hacked the rear torsion bar mounting crossmember in order to run a rwd driveshaft and the trans tunnel needed to do so. I converted 2 of them now....used the front frame section from a 73 DeVille and spliced at the factory seam behind the firewall...trans tunnel just gets torched out, torsion bars are gone...stock 70's rear end bolts right in to the stock control arms.

Did you guys lift up your fronts with your torsion bars or did you leave them alone? I guess my only fear of raising the torsion bars would be putting more stress on my front axles. Whatcha think?

Whatcha think? yes....it's really the only way to get any bumper height, and you still won't get the height you want....and you are right, it does stress the knuckles and axles.....just one of the draw backs of this cars....but they are fun as hell to drive..lol
