Is it better to have the rearend sit low or high on a derby truck ? I can wedge the bed or leave it in stock location, whats the best? I would think if rear sits low outher trucks will hit sheatmetal instead of bending rear frame. This is how we set up our mopar derby cars and roundback GM wagons with leaf springs in rear. I've never built a truck yet,and was just curious what the vetran truck builders would do and why.I'd probably run a pretty stock truck derby if I ever decided to build one.thanks

The concept is the same as running a car. As far as wedging or not. I will be running one wedged this year and one not. One set of rules allow it the other doesn't. Personally I would wedge the bed or at least bend the bed sides in if allowed. The bed sides like to blow outward and start pealing the bed off the frame. Hope that helps

thanks for comments,I've built quite a few sedans and wagons in the past, but this would be the first truck....just trying to decide a game plan on how it will be built.

My 1973 Dodge 3/4 ton with 350 in it. Got Frist place in the 2012 Vermillion South Dakota Clay County Fair ;D. Nothing wrong with it other then the left A arm and left fender that bent alittle from a hard hit. To me Dodge is a strong truck to run but i think its all how you build them, just like any other make.
