I think a lot of my bad luck with axles has to do with how beat the sides of he car already was which exposed the wheels more. Seemed to break pretty easy though. First one broke after several runs and was already tweaked. Second one was fresh, broke a minute in on the first side shot.

Would an 8.8 be a better rear to put the money into?

^^ there isn’t much difference between the 7.5 and 8.8. Both use the same axles. You can build one but will want a pretty low gear, axle savers with bronze bushings, and an aftermarket axle like moser or Yukon. IMO if you are going to spend that kind of money, invest in a 9”

IMO if you are going to spend that kind of money, invest in a 9” The axles are the same size, but the axle tubes on an 8.8 are a lot bigger. Parts for an 8.8 are way cheaper and easier to come by than a 7.5. Indeed. And if you are running an sn-95 or and edge “4th gen stang” try to get one from a foxbody. The axle tubes are shorter than a 4th gen and will hide your wheels better and help save an axle

Has anyone ever had a waterpump shaft go through the front cylinder? I heard from a guy that he gutted his waterpump to prevent it.

Are the bores different at all on these? From what I read all the bores are 3.780, had a set of pistons that by part number say they are 3.810 which would make them 0.030 over but they aren’t stamped .030 over, don’t have caliper to measure them, but they fit right into a stock 91 2.3, are they just actually not .030 over pistons or was the 91 block bored out at some point? Motor only had 91k on it, pistons are for 5.7 rods and from what I’ve seen cant order stock bore pistons for 5.7 rods. Also motor had a 8 plug head on it, worth it to plug off Intake side and put a carb intake on it and run it like that?

Carb intake won't bolt to an 8 plug head. Need a 4 plug head. Not sure about the piston situation. Always have ran stock bottom end.
