You can get an aftermarket hei type distributor, or I've just been running a stock points distributor the last few year which is nice and easy.... and you can search parts stores/summit/speedway/jegs etc. just as easily as anybody else. the hei I have found looks like you gotta run a ignition box with them is that correct

Is your engine built? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. Going from 80hp to 83 isn't enough to put a whole lot of thought into what octane, and probably isn't anything to screw with too much without actually knowing what you're doing. Putting race fuel in a street engine isn't the same as putting race fuel in a race engine.

Yeah that's really what I was thinking all the talk about running race fuel was years ago that I found it probably was a hole lot cheaper don't know of anyone who runs it now

Easiest way to gain Hp is to cut the exhaust and put a nos sticker on it 😎 In all honesty tho, racing fuel is a great addition for a built motor not so much for a stock one.

Stock, just pulled out of a car? Derby ready? Stock, I wouldn't pay more than $300 if I knew it was good and reliable. $300-400 if it's derby ready, possibly more if it's got some building done to it.

Anyone ever put a bigger gear in a 7.5 rear end? If so, how did it do?

They definitely need aftermarket axles. I bent at least 3-4 and broke 2 axles this year in 4 runs. 2 of them were stock 8.8 axles which are supposedly stronger than 7.5 axles. FYI if you are going with 4:11ish and up you will have to modify the center pin.

Or you can buy the machine notched pin. I did with the 4.56's. I've bent a lot of 7.5 axles but have only ever broken one. I'm not even gonna claim that though. It broke when I was letting someone else run it.
