Got board during this whole corona virus shut down and decided to try something I’ve been wanting to try for a while now. Carb converting one of these 3.0 Vulcans. This was an 01 so it had the plastic upper intake. Never made it to the junk yard to find an aluminum one and also I was laid off from work so didn’t have access to the spool gun setup to weld it up anyway so I made a new upper out of a piece of 3.5x3.5 tube. Cut out the holes on the bottom to match up with the lower. Made a carb adapter for on top and boxed in the ends. Also used the stock throttle cable brackets. Dropped in a old TFI distributer I had laying around and she actually runs pretty good. Gotta finish the brakes up so I can take it out and beat on it for a bit and see how she does.

Some of us would be very interested in seeing or hearing about your spark wiring.

All I did with the ignition was to take out the new style camshaft position sensor and replace it with an older style TFI distributer that I had laying around from I think a 2nd gen Taurus. Then just wired that up to a coil and powered it from a toggle switch. The whole thing only has the battery cables running to the engine, one wire to activate the starter solenoid and 1 main power wire that powers the distributer, coil, alternator field, and transmission for 1st gear. I did not try doing any wiring with the coil packs and the crank/cam position sensors but I’m sure it would be possible. Hats off to you that's an awesome set up and I'm betting that will eat some w bodies now. In my opinion the taurus sables were right there maybe a little behind the wbody. But with a little work they could hang. Now that u carbed one, I think you opened up another door for the taurus/sables.

I agree I think they are one of the most overlooked cars out there. I would not be afraid to take a Taurus against anything and the best part is there everywhere, at least around me and none of the derby guys want them.

I am going to sit down and do a full wiring write up on these when I get a chance.

Look on some info on how to hot wire a tranny on these cars What year? I ran a 98 and it did fine without hot wiring the trans. Just shift it easy and try not to get hit too hard in the left fender if you don’t move your harness out of it. That’s also what broke the shifter on the other 98 my dad ran

Running a pre ran 2000 Taurus Wagon and wondering if anybody had sedagoned one before? What class? On my sedan I ran tie wire from rear rails to the b pillars crisscross across the trunk. Bent my trunk up just enough to get it to roll in,I was gonna try the same thing on a wagon without a tailgate because it seemed to do pretty good for not being pre bent

The rear pillars are already wanting/starting to go in, so was debating on sedagoning now or trying to give it one more run before I do it.
