I forgot to add that yeah I cut 6 inches off the front and hardnosed it with a homemade bumper. But thought about leaf springs but got a rearend with solid shocks so just put that in

So heres my question. Have a 86 crown vic. Frames doubled on the outside on the rails, humps have straight tubes through it, has 1/4 inch plates over lower control arm brackets around the normal kinking area on old vics, 1/4 inch plate on both sides on tranny support as well as 4 sides from a-frame forward to mount bumper. Also have it around top a-frame to "hold it down" I have all thread shocks also. And I have 2 plates below the kickers on side of frame. kickers are touching the a-frame at a 30° angle. The upper control arms are plated on the bottoms to strengthen them as well as the back lower side of frame is plated from humps back I was gunna add a kicker from the original kicker that runs straight down off it to the frame also. Thoughts on where this car will bend I'm new to the kickers class and cant really see it bending other then the center of the frame? Also frame is seam welded top and bottom. I'd plate the whole side rail or stuff them with something. Then kicker to them too..

I bought a pair of big block front coil springs and they are a little taller than the stock vic. How do you compress the big block spring to fit it in the lower a arm spring pocket?

I run 2 chains and carriage bolts strapped uo and over the middle section so i can compress the coil. Kind of sketchy though I'm sure there's better ways lol

Take shock out and run 3/4 rod with a plate about 2 coils up from bottom and lube the nut and washer on top and start slowly impacting it up until you can get lower somewhat started then ratchet strap or chain winch it the rest of the way up...

I chain the frame to the trailer or hold it down with a tractor, then put a floor jack under the lower arm and jack it up compressing the spring.
As Owen's said, slightly sketchy, so use at your own discretion and be careful.

I just assume not everyone has access to heavier equiptment but either way. Yep its sketchy. Be careful and have help handy just incase something goes wrong

I am going to try this method. I already have the shock out and should have all-thread and plates around. I don't have access to heavy equipment. I thought about using the coil spring compressors but i think are to long and interfere with the frame when trying to install.

I used the all thread method and got the spring in the lower arm pocket. Now when jacking the car up I can't get the coil to compress enough to get the upper ball joint back in, about 2-3 inches short. Do I just need to compress the coil more with the all thread? I have to get a longer piece tomorrow since I didn't have a long enough piece around to get far enough down the coil. I don't have anything to hold the car down and it is coming off the jack stands.
I'm trying to use front coils for a 76 impala. Should I be using something different that will make the suspension stiff but easier to get in?

No I dont have a trailer or anything to chain the frame down. I could get creative and loop a chain around the jack and frame but dont like doind sketchy/dangerous mechanic work.
I ended up cutting a coil off the bottom and used the all thread method to get it in. It us still maxed out and really stiff.

I understand that it's best to replace the a arms and spindles for the 90s Vic's/towncars with ones off of an 80s. But does anyone know if you could replace them with a arms and spindles off of an 80s f150? Have a family friend parting his f150 out and wondered if there was anything worth taking off of it. Just a crazy thought.
