Does any one know if 10 BIA rear end backing plates are the same as 10 bolt c clip rear end backing plates? Nope they're different.

Probably asked before, 10bolt bia shafts all same length in full size rears or was there different lengths In full size rears yes they're the same from 71-76 in sedans. Wagons on the other hand had some odd ball stuff going on.... Some pontiacs too..... The ten bolt covers with 12 bolt ring gears etc.... And I'm not sure if wagon rearends were wider than sedan ones. For some reason I'm thinking they are but I do not know for sure. But to answer your question.... Full size sedan 10 bolt bia axles from 71-76 should be the same.... You may run into different bearings on the axles tho.... Full roller vs taper

All fullsize 71-76 10 bolt BIA axles are the same length. 1971-76 wagons did not come with a 8.5 ten bolt. The only two options for a wagon diff from factory was the BIA 31 spline 12 bolt and the 31 spline C-clip with the 10 bolt cover 12 bolt ring gear. So no 8.5 sedan axles will work in a wagon housing. Unless you swap the spider side gears to 28 spline. But then you would be using a lighter axle. Not a bad thing if you had lots of spares and wanted to save $$ as the 28 spline is still a decent " stock" axle.
As for backing plates im pretty sure it does not matter if c-clip or BIA.. When I measured with my tape they appeared to be the same.
And for the raptor fab spool. I used the factory shims with some thin aftermarket ones as well. I would buy the install kit as it will have a fresh pinion bearing , crush sleave and seal and shims.

Forgot to mention that 10 bolt cover 12 bolt ring gear diff with 31 spline c-clip axles ( Pontiac made diff) also came in sedans so keep an eye out.
Iv found them usually 75-76 buicks and 73-75 pontiacs

Backing plates are different between BIA and c clip axles. The BIA has the bottom bolts closer the c clip is square bolt pattern.

When converting a c clip 10 bolt to the bia 31 spline could I just cut the ends off the bop 12 bolt to replace the ends on the 10 or would I run into problems keeping everything strait/true?? I know there's eliminators I can buy,,but if I don't need to I'd rather not

Does anyone make an 8.5 spool with larger than 30 spline that Yukon makes? If so, can a person find 71-76 length axles with the same spline count I.E. 33,35 or 40 spline?

Yes there is a spool for 35 spline axles .. However iv heard mixed reviews on this .. Some say the carrier caps are the weak link with this setup.. Maybe think about a different style housing .. Or roll the dice on the 35 spline 10 bolt
Moser axle will make axles any length you want.

They will work with a bit of work

They will work with a bit of work Well yea I plan to cut the tube like 3" from the ends and have the tubes expanded to fit over the ones on the 10 bolt, so I'd use the complete assembly from the 12 bolt bop ...I'm just skeptical of the idea looking for input thanks

Keeping the ends square would be an issue. If you know a good machine shop they could turn you a collar to put inside the tube and plug weld it. You just have to make sure the collar isn't to thick and interferes with the axles.
