Alot of guys build the 10 bolt housing out of c-clips cause the tubes are thicker. (now this is what my rear-end builder told me) i'm not 100% on that. they just cut the ends off and put the bolt on bearing ends. RAPTOR FAB is the original and go to for a 10 bolt big spline rear end. So where does a guy go to find Raptor Fab stuff now? Do they have a web site?

Thank you. Do they offer all of the same products that Raptor use to? I need weld on brakets for GM from Ford and things like that.

Also, I'm having a hell of a time finding axles for 74-76 Impala's a Caprice's. Looking on Mosers site and a few others. Any thoughts? just call moser and tell them you need BOP 31 spline 12 bolt bolt in axles. They will know what you're talking about. Don't mention that you're trying to put them in a ten bolt housing blah blah they will get lost. replacement axles are around 500 delivered and are much better than factory ones. if you're going with the hobby stock axles i believe they cost a little more and you have to change the housing ends on your rearend.

Will a 10 bolt c-clip from a 76 Caprice fit under a 76 Monte Carlo? I know that the Monte rearend is 3" narrower, but as far as the ears bolting up to the control arms will it work? Yes...

I have one of the pontiac rears. 10 cover bolts 12 ring bolts and 31 spline axles. Are these axles the same as 12 bolt axles?

yes the cover bolts are all the same. ring bolts is what you are looking at for 10 or 12 bolt. The only axle that is 31 spline from a gm that won't work is a caddy axle but moser would make them work if you have them...

Ok thank you. I thought I read on the first couple pages that it went by the cover bolts. But pontiac had a rear with 10 cover bolts and 12 ring bolts with 31 spline axles. But was considered a 10 bolt.

The only 12 bolt axles I know of (that we deal with) that come out of what I consider a "true" 12 bolt rearend are bolt-in.. So, my answer would be no, they are not the same....

Ok thats what I was looking for thanks. I never even thought about about one being c-clip (mine) and the 12 bolt being bolt in.

As said the axles are the same length and spline. The difference between the two is the c-clip axle is thicker where the bearing is and the c-clip does not have holes in it to get to the nuts. In my opinion the c-clip axles are stronger because of thickness and no holes. I have never broke either a 31 spline bolt in or c-clip but I have bent bolt ins before. On the flange and the shaft itself.
I have also started running smaller tires so I can not say definitively that the c-clip is stronger. However, I can say that it is a hell of a lot cheaper and just as strong or stronger. I can build a geared, braced c-clip rear end for half or less than half the price of a comparable bolt in axle.
