just drug home a clean 77 Caddy with the 425 4bbl engine. Was wondering if the motor will hold up well in a derby or if it is a boat anchor for the scrap yard. was looking at using it for a chain stock strip and go car but don't want to waste the car if the motor is gonna get hot and puke. throw a 2g on it adjust the timing and let er eat ran one a few years ago wide open all night later found out there was no water in the rad never skipped a beat i was running a 4b stock carb and could not keep it cool. boiled water out after about 15-20 minutes in heat and consi. it did thoroughly enjoy the 2b alc carb though.... needing opinions on where to plate... in front of a-arms or behind them closer to firewall? noticing equal ammounts of give in both areas after 3 derbies.

i found a 77 eldorado on craigslist for $500. some surface wust but nothing horrible. would this be an 80's+ contender vs the vics? could i even use it as 80s+? ik its a GM product, but what would i pass it off as? and i have a 318/727 and a BIA rearend i could slap into it. would it be worth my time to buy or trade for?

I asked this on the pic thread too, but does anyone think that the idler arm holes may be fixed with long Mopar side mount shocks?...

I have seen a few run, and it blew my mind the first time, due to the fact that i thought that FWD was for little cars not this big cad. TANK any opinions?

I run a chain and go class and with the metric bumbers I have had good luck with bending the steel front around the aluminum back so that the shock mount bolts go through the steel front. This also spreads the impact across more of the aluminum backing.
