SEMI STOCK RULES
GENERAL RULES
1. Top five in feature must actively compete at end, no driving yourself on barriers or dirt berms. Failure to comply could result in complete restart with all feature qualifiers actively competing again or disqualification.
2. No reinforcements allowed other than specified in these rules. Any metal added to reinforce the car is illegal. You will only be allowed 2 trips thru the inspection line.
3. NO PAINTING, UNDERCOATING, OILING OR GREASING OF FRAMES. YOU WILL NOT BE INSPECTED. THIS INCLUDES PAINTING OF THE FRAME FLAT BLACK.
4. NO HITTING IN DRIVERS’ DOOR, but no using driver door as a shield. If the hit is deemed by the official to be careless or intentional, you will be disqualified. If you use your driver’s door as a defense, we will not enforce the rules. If you use the door as a defense repeatedly you will be disqualified. This will be at the judges’ discretion.
5. NO hot-rodding in the pits! Keep it at an idle.
6. You must make AGGRESSIVE contact every 60 seconds.
7. Sandbagging is not tolerated and will be strictly enforced. Locking up the brakes prior to a hit for anything other than a driver’s door will be cause for disqualification. The fans pay to see a show, put one on for them!
8. IF YOU THINK SOMEONE IS SANDBAGGING, HIT THEIR CAR WITH YOUR CAR ON THE TRACK.
9. Winning cars plus three out of the money must remain on track until released by officials or will not be paid prize money. Cars are subject to re-inspection before any prize money is handed out. Cars found illegal will be stripped of all prize money for that event.
10. Any questions or controversies will be discussed at the drivers meeting
11. YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST A 12” X 12” ROOF SIGN WITH YOUR CARS LEDGABLE NUMBER ON IT.
12. All drivers must pick up earnings at the completion of the event, or forfeit. They will not be available after that date.
13. All persons MUST sign entry form, insurance waiver, release form, pay entry fees, and purchase pit pass before entering pit area. Be prepared to present a valid driver’s license at entry. All driver’s winning prize money will be required to provide a social security to receive your check.
14. THERE IS NO ALCOHOL IN THE PITS. This includes pit crews. If you or ANY of your crew is caught with alcohol, you will be disqualified.
15. No harassing of the judges will be allowed at any time by drivers, passengers, crew members or spectators. Failure to abide by this rule, the driver will forfeit all money, and all involved will be escorted from premises.
16. Registration forms will be filled out the day of the event. All drivers must be at least 16 years of age; drivers 16 and 17 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a minor release form
17. All drivers must wear approved helmets, eye protection either safety glasses or visor on helmet, long pants, and shirt. Also, all drivers and riders must wear working seat belts. This will be enforced in 2021 or you will not run!!!!
18. - Drivers must remain in the vehicle with helmet, seat belt and eye protection on until notified by an official that it is safe to exit the vehicle.
19. A driver that receives a black flag for an intentional door hit will be disqualified from all competition for that night. A driver that receives a black flag for sandbagging or 1 fire in the interior of the car will be disqualified. 2 fires on the exterior will be disqualified, if in heat you may go to consolation. This will be at the judges’ discretion.
20. This is not a team event; team driving will not be tolerated
21. All drivers must attend drivers’ meeting prior to derby
22. All cars must be removed from derby site by 12:00 noon the following day unless otherwise stated at drivers meeting. Failure to do this will result in cars being removed by and becoming property of Fair Board.
23. DO NOT paint anywhere on suspension or frame; if we can tell it has been painted, we will not even inspect your car.
24.ALL SUNROOFS MUST BE COVERED WITH A THIN SHEET OF METAL, I.E. WELED OR BOLTED (WITH BOLT HEAD INSIDE THE CAR) OR RIVETED. NO # 9 wire or chain to accomplish this will be allowed.
SEMI- STOCK 2022 Fall clean up show rules
1. DO NOT READ ANYTHING INTO THESE RULES, JUST READ THE RULES!! If it does not say you can, YOU CAN'T! Or you will be loaded, your choice!
2. NO black cars, dark cars must have contrasting letter/numbers. DO NOT paint anywhere on suspension or frame; we will not even inspect your car.
3. Any year car EXCEPT No Imperials, no Suicide Lincolns, and no Hearses
4. Body components must be direct bolt up only. Must be factory hardware or equivalent in size
5. Vehicles must be swept clean of all debris
6. No sedagons, frame shaping, forming or folding, unless stated
7. - Front Windshield Bar is MANDATORY and is limited to two 2” wide x 1/4" thick straps or two 3/8” chains or two strands of 9 wire. May be welded or bolted or both. 6 inches on roof and 6 inches on firewall for attachment. 12” apart measured I.D. (1 min., with rider must have 2)
8. Fenders maybe bolted together with 3/8” or smaller bolts and 3/8” or smaller washers. MAX. 10 per fender/wheel opening.
9. Cars must have seatbelts and working brakes “MANDATORY”
Body
1. Remove all glass mirrors and plastic. Remove all decking in wagons Vehicles must be swept clean of all debris
2. No sedagons, ZERO sheet metal folding or frame shaping. Creasing sheet metal enhancements is allowed on rear quarters only, but rear quarters and taillight lance area attachment points must remain vertical/straight up and in factory position. Speaker deck should remain stock. Don't touch it
3. Deck and Hood must be 100% in stock location and open for inspection or able to see into with a 12” cut out (you may cut up to 50% of the trunk/deck lid off or remove completely) or a single 90 degree bend. Must stay on factory hinges
4. Anything can be removed; NOTHING can be added
5. FASTEN DOWN HOODS, TRUNKS AND TAIL GATES (4 each) in 1 of the following 3 ways, NO mix and match!!!
First way: 4 places with ½” bolts sheet metal to sheet metal
Second way: (4) 3” long angle iron ¼” thick max. Back-to-back, with 1- ½” bolt per angle iron.
Third way: 4 places #9 wire double stranded max.
Additionally you can replace the front body mounts with two 1” all-thread. Do not weld this all-thread to anything. It has to run through the factory mount on the frame. Do not move the mount and do not weld on the mount. You can also run two 1 inch all-thread in place of two of your four rear body mounts in the trunk area.
6. Can have a 6” or less spacer between core support and frame
7. Hoods must have two (2) holes, at least four (4) inches in diameter on each side of carburetor not directly on top of carburetor.
8. IF HOOD IS REMOVED, EITHER FAN BLADE MUST BE REMOVED OR FAN BELT MUST BE CUT.
9. A maximum of 20 bolts 3/8 inch or smaller are allowed to bolt together hood seams.
10. All doors may be welded solid. 4” x 1/8” strap. Do not weld hood or trunk!
BODY MOUNTS
1. Body mounts may be changed but must have 1 inch spacer. You may change stock body bolts to 5/8” in all locations
FRAMES
1. NO welding on frames allowed. (Except where stated in the rules)
2. NO cutting flap to tilt, cold bending is okay
3. If running a used car prior to this derby, you are allowed 10 patch plates max ( 5 per frame rail,must be on the outside of the frame). Size 4”x4”x1/4”. Must be painted a bright color. So that it is easily noticed for the inspectors. AFTER INSPECTION OR HEATS NO WELDING THESE PLATES ON. IF ADDITIONAL PLATES ARE FOUND AFTER INSPECTION – NO MONEY WILL PAID OUT
4. Fresh cars will be allowed 4 plates 4”x4” x 1/4”. outside of frame, painted a bright color.
5. You can shorten the frame, but must have 3” of frame sticking out in front of the front body mount factory location (this mount is where your front all thread would go) cannot move front body mount i.e., ford, mercury and Lincoln. CAN NOT MOVE CORE SUPPORT. Also, on the old iron GM’s you cut the piece off to square up the front frame if you choose to hard nose these cars
SUSPENSION
1. Modifications allowed. Ride height and bounce/suspension give will be left up to the driver as long as it meets the min. and max. ride height requirements. Must remain strictly OEM stock. ZERO aftermarket parts, except where noted.
2. any tie rod and end allowed. Aftermarket okay as well.
3.. A-arms may be bolted or lightly welded with strap no more than ¼” thick and 2” wide, MUST RUN STRAIGHT UP AND DOWN. One in front and one behind A-arm for a total of 2 per A-arm. Can be to upper or lower A-arm, but not both. Can only be welded 2” on A-arm and 2” on frame. Only a 2”X2” area on each end of strap may be welded to A-arm and frame. DO NOT WELD ENTIRE A-ARM TO THE FRAME! NO OTHER METAL ADDED!
Strictly enforced.
4. You may use spring spacers store bought or homemade as long as it meets height requirements of the bumpers
5. You may have a double strand of #9 wire or 5/16’ chain to hold coil spring to rear-end and leaf sprung cars may use 4 single strands of #9 wire as leaf clamps or factory clamps. No exceptions
6. From frame to frame behind rear end you may have up to 4 strands of #9 wire twisted together or one 3/8” chain or smaller.
7. If you are running a 03 or newer must run/use stock/factory aluminum cradle
8. you must use the factory rack in 03 and newer after market tie rods okay . no steering box swaps or linkage swaps
DRIVE TRAIN
1. ANY drivetrain allowed with the following criteria.
2. ANY ENGINE OR TRANSMISSION MAY BE USED IN ANY CAR BUT MUST BE MOUNTED IN A STOCK POSITION. ON A V-BLOCK MOTOR, FRONT SPARK PLUGS MUST BE EVEN OR IN FRONT OF UPPER BALL JOINT; ON IN-LINE MOTORS, NUMBER TWO (2) SPARK PLUG MUST BE EVEN OR IN FRONT OF UPPER BALL JOINT.
3. You may use factory or aftermarket rubber or polyurethane motor mounts. Only the lower motor mounts may be welded to frame.. You may use two 1/2" thick spacers to raise engine to clear steering components, may not exceed rubber mount area.
4. stock cross member or 2x2 square tubing may be used. a 2”x 2”x 1/4” angel iron 4” long welded only to inside frame rail to mount your stock cross member I.E. CHEVY DRIVE LINE IN A FORD. No other welding
5. Lower cradle allowed
6. Pulley protectors allowed
7. You can run a DP. If you run a DP you must cut fire wall. If at any point before during or after demo the DP touches cage or firewall you will be disqualified and prize money will be given to the car next in placing.
REAR END
1. Any automobile rear-end can be used, truck/floater rear-end can be used as long as it doesn’t support the car in away.
A. Watts link or box ford control arm brackets can be welded in, but no more than it would have come from the factory. For lower control arm must use the bracket welded to side of the frame in the factory location and with factory weld amount for 98-02’s
2. On models originally equipped with leaf springs, stock leaf springs and hangers MUST be used.
3. Leaf packs on all cars can be modified. You may flat stack or add leafs. You may have five (5) spring clamps per spring.
4. Slider drive shaft is permitted.
5. reinforced trailing arms allowed must start with a factory control arms. you may tilt rear ends. You may shorten or lengthen trailing arms. DO NOT WELD ON FRAMES.
6. You may weld rear-end gears / spools ok. Pinion brake ok
7. You cannot transform a coil car to leaf springs or vice versa
8. You can weld on rear-ends, such as spring perches, trailing arm brackets, and spider gears.
9. You may run chain from rear end to frame, nothing thru body. 5/16” max. Size chain.
10. Aftermarket shifters, headers, gas and brake pedals allowed. Clarification: none may strengthen car.
11. Any driveshaft and U joint are allowed, may be cut and welded to length.
CAGE AND HALO BAR:
1. 4-point cage mandatory. you are allowed a gas tank protector, you can bury this into the rear seat area. You are allowed 2 down tube per side to the frame. You are also allowed two kickers in the front no farther forward than the a arms.
2. Halo bar allowed, only to the back seat bar (in line with back seat bar ...No further back), not to floor. Nothing can be attached to Halo Bar.
4. Drivers’ door must be padded.
5. Gas tank and battery must be moved, secured and covered. Tank behind the seat, Battery centered in the passenger front floor.
6. NO PLASTIC TANKS
7. Mounted in center of the back side area.
A. Battery and gas tank must be tight when coming through inspection line or you will not be inspected.
8. Nothing may be mounted in a way that strengthens the car.
9. Trans and engine coolers allowed. Must be mounted in rear seat area and meet the approval of the officials.
10. May add knuckles to factory OEM columns or run an aftermarket column
BUMPERS
1. ANY OEM STOCK AUTOMOBILE BUMPER or OEM REPLICA BUMPER, YOU MAY LOAD THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPER IF YOU CHOOSE, You may weld bumper bracket to frame no further back than factory bumper shock bolt or bracket would be., single pass only. In addition, you may put 4 one-inch welds on back side of bracket or to weld factory shock inside frame (example Crown Vics.). If you weld shock inside frame do not put the shock deeper than the factory mounting location for that car.
2. Shocks may be collapsed and welded. All shocks and brackets in stock location only. Do not move! You can shorten the frame but must have 3” of frame sticking out in front of the front body mount factory location (this mount is where your front all thread would go) cannot move front body mount i.e., ford, mercury and Lincoln. CAN NOT MOVE CORE SUPPORT. Also, on the old iron GM’s you cut the piece off to square up the front frame if you choose to hard nose these cars. You can hard nose the bumpers. We Don’t want to be picking up bumpers. Again, all bumper brackets and shocks must be in stock location.
3. You may chain, one piece of chain per side BOLTED from the bumper to bracket to hold on the bumper or weld a flat piece of strap (2”x2”x1/4”) from frame to bumper you may also have 4 double strands of 9 wire to core support.
4. Bumpers can be no higher than 26” from the ground to the top of the bumper or lower than 16” from the ground to the bottom of the bumper.
Tires/wheels
1. Forklift and skid loader tires are allowed
2. any wheel 16 inch or smaller can be used. full centers can be used. Tires can be solid.
3. Liquid in tires is allowed. Studs and screws in rims to hold tires in place are allowed
I want this to be as fair as possible. If I suspect something that I can’t quite see I will drill your frame and or scope your car. If we can all get on the same page, we can bring the car count up and add money and classes.

A. Watts link or box ford control arm brackets can be welded in, but no more than it would have come from the factory. For lower control arm must use the bracket welded to side of the frame in the factory location and with factory weld amount for 98-02’s
2. On models originally equipped with leaf springs, stock leaf springs and hangers MUST be used.
3. Leaf packs on all cars can be modified. You may flat stack or add leafs. You may have five (5) spring clamps per spring.
4. Slider drive shaft is permitted.
5. reinforced trailing arms allowed must start with a factory control arms. you may tilt rear ends. You may shorten or lengthen trailing arms. DO NOT WELD ON FRAMES.
6. You may weld rear-end gears / spools ok. Pinion brake ok
7. You cannot transform a coil car to leaf springs or vice versa
8. You can weld on rear-ends, such as spring perches, trailing arm brackets, and spider gears.
9. You may run chain from rear end to frame, nothing thru body. 5/16” max. Size chain.
10. Aftermarket shifters, headers, gas and brake pedals allowed. Clarification: none may strengthen car.
11. Any driveshaft and U joint are allowed, may be cut and welded to length.
CAGE AND HALO BAR:
1. 4-point cage mandatory. you are allowed a gas tank protector, you can bury this into the rear seat area. You are allowed 2 down tube per side to the frame. You are also allowed two kickers in the front no farther forward than the a arms.
2. Halo bar allowed, only to the back seat bar (in line with back seat bar ...No further back), not to floor. Nothing can be attached to Halo Bar.
4. Drivers’ door must be padded.
5. Gas tank and battery must be moved, secured and covered. Tank behind the seat, Battery centered in the passenger front floor.
6. NO PLASTIC TANKS
7. Mounted in center of the back side area.
A. Battery and gas tank must be tight when coming through inspection line or you will not be inspected.
8. Nothing may be mounted in a way that strengthens the car.
9. Trans and engine coolers allowed. Must be mounted in rear seat area and meet the approval of the officials.
10. May add knuckles to factory OEM columns or run an aftermarket column
BUMPERS
1. ANY OEM STOCK AUTOMOBILE BUMPER or OEM REPLICA BUMPER, YOU MAY LOAD THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPER IF YOU CHOOSE, You may weld bumper bracket to frame no further back than factory bumper shock bolt or bracket would be., single pass only. In addition, you may put 4 one-inch welds on back side of bracket or to weld factory shock inside frame (example Crown Vics.). If you weld shock inside frame do not put the shock deeper than the factory mounting location for that car.
2. Shocks may be collapsed and welded. All shocks and brackets in stock location only. Do not move! You can shorten the frame but must have 3” of frame sticking out in front of the front body mount factory location (this mount is where your front all thread would go) cannot move front body mount i.e., ford, mercury and Lincoln. CAN NOT MOVE CORE SUPPORT. Also, on the old iron GM’s you cut the piece off to square up the front frame if you choose to hard nose these cars. You can hard nose the bumpers. We Don’t want to be picking up bumpers. Again, all bumper brackets and shocks must be in stock location.
3. You may chain, one piece of chain per side BOLTED from the bumper to bracket to hold on the bumper or weld a flat piece of strap (2”x2”x1/4”) from frame to bumper you may also have 4 double strands of 9 wire to core support.
4. Bumpers can be no higher than 26” from the ground to the top of the bumper or lower than 16” from the ground to the bottom of the bumper.
Tires/wheels
1. Forklift and skid loader tires are allowed
2. any wheel 16 inch or smaller can be used. full centers can be used. Tires can be solid.
3. Liquid in tires is allowed. Studs and screws in rims to hold tires in place are allowed
I want this to be as fair as possible. If I suspect something that I can’t quite see I will drill your frame and or scope your car. If we can all get on the same page, we can bring the car count up and add money and classes.
