Hey y’all, new to derbying. Found a 87 thunderbird with the 3.8 v6 and 8.8 rear end. Wanna know if it’s a good buy? Any tips and tricks? Will be running a basically stock class, allowed all thread in core support and allowed stuffed bumpers because I’ll be running in compact class. These are a unibody car right? Not a frame on body or “full frame” car? I hear these are really similar to the fox body, but can’t find much on those either that are similar to the thunderbird. Any sort of wiring I need to move? It looks like a carb set up, and we are required to run at minimum a roll over bar and fuel cell, suspension has to stay stock so anything I need to watch out for? Building cheap. Would donut sized fronts be a good option? And for rears I have to run DOT approved tires so look for atv/dirt bike tires? And allowed to run a bead lip. How hard is it to weld the diff on these? Thanks for any info!
