I realize this is a dumb question and it would be expensive as hell, but has anyone tried running an allison transmission in a derby? Not sure if you can even make them full manual or work for our application. Just curious since everyone talks about how stout they are and thats what this sport is all about. Thanks for any answers like I said just wondering

^^ who on earth said that?? If cummins had an allison behind it, it would be the best combo to be had. Allison is by far the best transmission behind a diesel and can handle 800hp and 1000ft lbs of torque quite easily but as far as derby related i dont think its quite suited for that environment

It’s all about heat. Doesn’t matter what transmission you’re using.

It’s all about heat. Doesn’t matter what transmission you’re using. Just found out Friday that my 2014 Chevy trans is fried. I guess good old Chevy put a thermostat on trans cooler lines that is garbage. A $10 fix to prevent a now 4500 problem…

Yep. Thermostatic valve delete is a good idea…
