So as everyone knows on here im a big y Framer and shocker guy. Ive gotten away from weld class and juat run more less light weld/stock class. If you run any sub frame mopars y'all know they like to twist the crossmember of the stub. We can run a lower cradle but i still bust ears off the block more than I'd like. I was wondering if anyone on here has ran elephant ears like they do on drag cars and a midpkate welded to frame in front and behind a arms it would save the ears on block and should really control twistin of the sub. And if i didnt run and lower frame mounts as motor mounts they would classify as mounts and motor still technically in stock location.

I run a strap and loose trans mount but can only nose a car out so far before the ears bind up and snap

I had to look up what elephant ears were, I think certain promoters may have a problem with it. That being said, I think it would help the sub twisting and especially with the sway in front of A-Arms on a chrysler, it could really help that. I guess my biggest thing is how thick are you looking? I would think 1/4" T-1 would be an awfully interesting test piece. Along with that, I am assuming you mean on a SBM, and there isn't a ton to tie to on the front. With a solid mount that is ridged, I would think motor making even OK power would twist alot, potentially breaking bolts or bending said plates.

Correct SBM it would have to be a full front mount im guessing run full front of engine and beyond water pump and such if you're following me here, just to utilize as much mounting area as possible without stressing one main area. But correct it would have to be. 1/4" minimum as far as i would be concerned. I run alot of Y framers so i feel being my bumper brackets touch the front mount for upper A arm my front plate engine mount would be slightly in front of A arm right where the pressure comes into a Y frame sub. It would certainly help the twisting i guess im 100%sure of that, I'm just curious on conversation i guess to see what y'all thought if it would stress the block to much and be worse than just busting ears off. Because its the domino effect yeah im stopping sub from twisting but the next week link then will be the engine taking up that twist.
Ah motor isn't a whole lot i mean its 340 punched .060 flat tops and hughes whiplash cam dual plane air gap, hei, edelbrock 650 carb she runs but hard believe its over 400hp run 4.56 rear gear with 23s so it turns rpm more so than torque

We had a set up on mod build like that out of 3/8s bolted around our frame and only one promoter was even willing to look at it. So as long as your promoter is cool with it I'd do it. Yes it will take out the twist and really help at back of heads if you ran one there too thats how ours was set up and bolted through frame. But yes the weak link is going to be letting the block take the pressure next.

For sure. I would have front and mid plate but i know the mid plate wont be able yo touch firewall Ya ours was on full frame car so we tilted it so it wouldn't and had 3 inch spacers to keep it away from firewall
