My engine builder has never used power valves before, but he primarily builds circle track engines…I’ve always struggled getting the right power valve tuned in, so would it be easier to block it off, to eliminate another variable?

I personally use them in both 2gs and 4412s…. However I have rebuilt one big name builder’s carb that had it blocked.

Ok, so I have a Holley xp 4412 that ran great with 73 jets and a 6.0 power valve, on a mild built SBC. Now, I have a new, roughly a 12:1, 383 long rod, solid lift roller….etc What should I roughly look to jet up to, if I block the power valve off?!? I modded a Percy’s Adjust A Jet to fit my Holly xp carb, but I haven’t fired off the engine yet.

The main reason I did PV plugs alot of the carbs I built didn't have the PV blowout protection circuit. But it sounds like with your combo and a 6.o pv that's kinda high . Also my thoughts on the valve it's designed for a longer pull not a on/off the throttle like the derby world. So yes 75 or 76 would be a good choice.
