Good luck, I asked this question last year and never got results. After a lot of google searching I found what I needed (28 spline for a 76 Cougar) but I have never seen a complete list

Honestly a list is helpful but if it’s not the factory rear could end up with wrong one. As easy as it is to pull one an measure. That’s the route I would go an takes the guesswork out of what could be misleading information.

If you're headers aren't cherry red by the end of the night then you didn't try/hit hard enough,

m.roadkillcustoms.com/ford-9-inch-rear-end-widths-and-potential-donor-cars/There is a complete one better than that if I can find it again I’ll post it. Full size passenger cars are not symmetrical (different length driver side and passenger side axles) and trucks are symmetrical. Be cautious if you don’t have back breaks when changing gears under potential load or while still spinning, it’ll snap (a 28-spline at least) in half pretty quick, trust me… In terms of bolts touched a whole rear end is equatable.
