About a year ago I started using Mobil 1 in my daily driver. What's everyone using as a point for changing oil? I've been doing it at 5,000 miles since 99% of my driving is highway.

What works for any decent engine these days is keeping something slippery in it and changing it on a fairly regular basis. I know folks might want to dig into a bunch of details and statisics(not saying they are wrong), but unless its a POS, as long as its the right viscosity and changed between 3-6k the engine should out last the vehicle.

In my truck I always change it about 10% before it says change engine oil. I used to never believe in that but it has worked for me since I tried it. As for my cavy work car I do every 5k or so

Depends on the engine for me. Newer yes, An older with a flat tapppet cam , No synthetic. I'll go with a zinc fortified oil.

In our Ls trucks over 100,xxx we run mob. 1 15-50. It keeps down on any oil burning.

I just use regular oil and put a sticker for 5k service. Then it's lucky if it gets changed at 7 or 8k.

I run Mobil 1 in everything except an old engine. They weren't made for it.

I’ve had good luck with conventional Castrol in my gassers. 10w-30 in our Tahoe and 20w-50 in derby engines. I run 15w-40 Rotella in my power stroke.
