Need some advice...my buddy is building a SBC for his 72 Chevelle (nothing drastic) and we are getting close to picking a carb. I've used many of the Eddy 1406s and the Holley 600s in the past with good results with both. Now there were a couple of times i had an Eddy 600 on a motor and i switched it out with a Holley 600 and it seemed like i got a little more low-end and mid-range torque out of the Holley but that was a while ago plus a smaller CFM than what we are wanting to use with this new motor. We were thinking about either a 650 Eddy AVS2 or Thunder Series AVS or a 670 Holley Street Avenger. Any advice between those? Or maybe a Quick Fuel?...or something else? Also we were planning on using a Eddy EPS but we also have a Holley Street Dominator...both are dual planes. I currently have a motor with an EPS with a 1" spacer and am happy with it but i didn't know if the Street Dominator was even better yet. One reason im curious about the Holley intake is cause it's 1" taller (more plennum volume) and the divider is slightly cut out like the air-gap just not as much. So any opinions on those as well? I know engine info is helpful so here's a general rundown:
1968-70 SBC 010 .30 over (355) Stock Crank and Rods 10:1 Flat tops Old Skool 370 HP LT1 Double humps with 2:02 1:60 Comp Cams 268H Eddy EPS Intake or Holley Street Dominator Roller Rockers Other typical stuff...Double roller chain, MSD dist & wires, Eddy fuel pump etc
Any help or advice is appreciated...thanks,57

Just something to look into as well, the carb type throttle bodies are on the market, coming down in price similair to a high end carb. While old school is cool and all, some of that stuff is becoming so simple, self learning and all that its not a bad avenue to look down.
If your sticking with carb though, depends on what you know but I like a good old fashioned Holley double pumper and have dealt now with quick fuel stuff and been happy as well.

I like Holley , But I've been playing with them for almost 40yrs. As for Quick Fuel it's a great carb but you can save $122+ depending on which carb you want by going with the same carb in Pro Form. it's the same carb different color and stickers.
