Ive been pretty lucky to always find really clean cars but here recently all i can find is rust lol, so whats the best way to repair crush boxes?, any noticable strength difference? Pictures would be awesome. Thanks:chunky

I don't have any pics but I've fixed lots of them cause I live in NY the rust capital of US. I just plate them with plate steel the same thickness as the frame. I cut a template out of cardboard and weld and beat it to contour it to the frame. I've never noticed a strength difference, but I run stock type/mild weld shows. They seem to bend right behind the boxes like the non rusty ones.

Jeremy Elliot sells replacement boxes. I usually turn down cars with rusty boxes because people don’t like what I offer for rusty cars. Living in NY it’s very hard to find clean cars.

depends on if they are rusted on the outside or the inside of the front rail that connects to the box. If they are rusted on the engine side of the rail then a plate is all you need over it. If it is rotted out inside the box then it seems to have more effect on strength and junk in my eyes unless you can cut off and weld plates on it...If side rails under doors are rusty then it is junk for sure...

Well it depends- I've had them rusty inside the box,by the control arm on the outside and also had the side rail rusted, all were repaired and run. If you run stock type shows I wouldn't be afraid of rust if the car was cheap. If your a big show guy then I agree their junk if rusted much at all
