I’ve got an nlr sliding column. It’s been nothing but problems. First run wobbled out the HD joint. Got a new joint. Next run snapped the knuckle in half near the firewall. Has anyone else had any problems with slider columns?

Ive bent shafts and broke one knuckle at the box but my steering box was pointing straight to the dirt from bending at the idler holes and steering box. Other than that ive never had an issue with a column ever even homemade ones. Biggest issue people have is over extending the shafts not leaving enough to pull out before it collapses and not greasing it so it can slide back nice so it dont bust that firewall knuckle or clearance enough sheet metal or header/ a arm bolts can hit it and bend or break it to. Things move around alot. Check the set screws every run or heat on the knuckles to.make sure thr pin dont come out. They are pretty straight forward. Its hard to make a bad steering shaft really.

What kind of car is it in? I crack every time I see a column in a caddy with 2 heim joints and then after the show they are surprised something is bent or broken.

I have homemade slider columns in my mopars I ran last year and I welded them solid no hex bolts. No problems out of them so would think mine may break before a NLR one since he builds good products.

I'm not going to give much advice on 03 set ups since i've only ran them with converting over to older box steering style. All the issues are at the firewall knuckle? If you contact Jon i'm sure he will make it right... also have some recommendations for ya....
