Wondering what everyone runs for top hoses on small block chevy engines? Been running a stock hose wrapped in cloth tape for years, just wondering if anyone has an alternative with a part number such as Gates Green Stripe 26612, etc?

grab a new gates hose. Cut the old hose lengthwise. Open it up and then put the new hose inside. Wrap in duct ta\e, put a heavy zip tie and build a bracket and wire it up to hold the hose so it doesn't flop onto the fan. You have to think out how the car bends. The hose usually is squashed into the fan blade. An even better route is to use a thermostat housing that faces the #1 cylinder.
The stainless steel is pricey, but another decent option.

Green stripe gates for this guy.... got tired of pulling springs out of my radiator.... That's what I run on the bottom hose, Gates Vulco-flex Green stripe 26612. Has the metal coil molded right in. They are 23" long but I can't find a longer one same style for the top.

I always run electric fans so that has never been an issue, I'm just looking for a gates green stripe part # or comparable ribbed style hose long enough that I don't have to wrap in cloth or duct tape.

Didn’t see a green stripe in catalog long enough and right diameter ends to do a top. The standard is good hose but spring not molded in so ends up in rad. Other one I’ve used is dayco but they are much cheaper in build and price reflects it.
