What is the everybody's opinions on the difference of the 2? I am looking at a 2011 and a 2012 3/4 ton chevys (6.0) crew cabs at a dealer, and the one I want more than the other is flex fuel but I dont know much about them. Could anybody tell me from experience what it is or if it is junk? I mean it's a 6.0 gas job so I'm not worried about gas mileage.

Dont make a difference just saying all the components and eco are compatible with e85. They can run on regular fuel as well

You dont have to run e85. Its optional. If you're doing more in town, you could benefit from it, but if you're on the highway, you'll watch your fuel gauge drop quickly.

A buddy of mine has a '15(?) Flex fuel GMC. He claims it's cheaper to use the E85 even though he gets around 20% poorer MPG with it.
Maybe it depends on the part of the country you're in, but around me here in IL E85 is usually around .70 a gallon cheaper.
We have at least 3 ethanol plants in a 60 mile radius of me, so maybe that affects the price?

Flex fuel is designed more for the big cities and city driving, stop and go, etc.

might get less miles per tank or mpg but if you do the math its usually cheaper per mile driven if you look at it that way. Where i fill up (01 heavy half 6.0) we have a good selection of fuel. i Usually run e15(88 octane) or e30 in my truck. octane levels are comparable with 91 or better for partial cost. dont really a notice on milage either. just my 2cents from experiance. even if your vehical isnt badged "flex fuel" its just fine to run up to e50 with no CEL on.
