I disagree with folding and bolting. It makes ot too string. That section needs weakened not strengthened. Look at that picture. That section is still straight. Just my opinion.

Keeps the metal off the wheels and I haven’t had one even attempt to go down since. I have built everyone of them I have ran since 2017 like that. I think it helps because you’re shortening that fender so it’s not so tall. That’s what makes the cars like Cadillac’s, Electra’s and 98s go down, because the fender is so tall and it sticks down past the frame, you shorten it up and it allows the frame to do it’s thing. It has been working flawlessly for me so I’ll continue to do it.

I believe he was talking about the area above the rear wheel

I believe he was talking about the area above the rear wheel I don’t think so, because you want to make that area as strong as possible. The stronger the body is right there, the stronger the humps will be. That is why I started beating the pillars in as well.

Thats exactly how ive done all my metric gm except i slice the bottom of the quarter from bottom going up about 8 inches and dont bolt it up. Just wrap bottom of quarter up and 90 it so it can rip as it rolls. All these years ive never had one drop or blow humps. Humps always wrap in and into rear end housing. But never teepee. Obviously none were rusty or scaly then it would be a little different strategy

I watch car185 run a lot an we may build GM a little different but all roll about the same. That section of his quater is straight he likes it works for him but I don't leave all that steel that's why we leave small section because ours end up a ball of steel vs his is packed flat. Both work for us but difference in builders.

That is the beauty of derbying. There is more than one way to skin a cat. Between my buddy Chris, and I, we have built 40+ metric GMs. We have tried many different things and got many results. Everyone has their own preference when it comes to building and the results they get. Him and I build in the same shop, and we don’t even build them the same. We have our own style that works. I’ve tried the double notch game, I’ve tried the single notch game, I’ve tried dimpling. I have tried doing quarters different and trunks different. Some work better than others, and some get results better than others. I always build them to roll once where I want them, normally a little higher than a lot of people because it’s less pressure on the humps that way, then if I am lucky enough to run them a second time, the rear bumper gets ditched and I make them roll a second time. Just a little taste of some of the results I have gotten...

^^^That would be correct. Don’t have an ideal place to run it and with a house addition going on don’t have any time anyway. Ran one show this year and it didn’t really make me wanna run another anyway, lol
