THORP LIONS DEMOLITION DERBY
SUNDAY JUNE 7, 2020
APPROX. 2:00 P.M. NORTHSIDE PARK – AFTER PARADE
There will be three classes:
1. Mid-Size Stock
2. Mid-Size Modified
3. Full Size
Be prepared to run heats in all classes
There will be a Driver of the day and Maddog trophy
There will be a Power Wheels derby
PITS WILL OPEN AT 10:00 AM – CARS & DRIVERS MUST BE IN PITS BY 12:30
3 cars will be accepted after 12:30 & before 1:00 – providing they pay an additional $25.00 per car entry fee.
After fully reading, all rules please direct any questions Bill @715-828-8270. All decisions concerning the classification of vehicles, acceptability of vehicle modifications and non-standard equipment, driver conduct and the determination of finalists and winners are the sole responsibility of the event officials and judges.
Rules are posted on WeCrash.proboard.com, and Thorp Lions Face Book Page. Any changes or clarifications will be updated and posted before May 15th
THE JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL
Pit Passes: $20.00
Only cash will be accepted for Entry Fees and Pit Passes
EVENT RULES:
1. No one allowed in pits without a Pit Pass
2. All pit crew members must be at least 14 years old. People with pit passes must sign an insurance waiver
3. Absolutely NO children will be allowed in pits
4. Absolutely NO alcoholic beverages in the pit area. Any possession of alcoholic beverages in the Pit area will result in loss of Pit Pass with no refund along with removal from the Pit Area.
5. Drivers must be 14 years old and a parental or legal guardian must sign a form in person or bring it notarized when registering
6. All drivers are required to wear pants and shirts during competition. NO shorts are allowed for drivers. Approved safety helmets and seat belts are required. Eye protection, long sleeve shirts, and fire protective clothing is recommended
7. Thorp Lions Club reserves the right to approve, reject or re-inspect any and all entries at the event at any time. Mandatory re-inspection for all cars placing. Any alterations after inspections will be cause for disqualification.
8. NO using driver’s door as a shield
9. Absolutely NO hitting on the driver’s door will be permitted. Judge’s decision is Final. Any door that comes open during the event will result in disqualification
10. NO getting out of your car or removing of helmet in car unless otherwise instructed by an official
11. No sandbagging or holding. You will get 1 warning and the second will result in disqualification. This will be taken seriously
12. Rollovers may result in driver’s disqualification at the discretion of Lions Officials
13. Any reckless driving in the pits will result in disqualification
14. Any vehicle leaking fuel will be disqualified
15. Thorp Lions Club will not be responsible for any vehicle or its components while on the grounds. These cars are the responsibility of the drivers and their owners. All cars left at the site the following day will be sold for junk for Lions Benefit
16. We may or may not run heats, depending on number of cars
17. Vehicle must have secured DOT approved seat belts. A 2.5 dry chemical fire extinguisher inside the car within the driver’s reach is highly recommended
18. Drivers and pit crewmembers MUST follow all stated rules. Any misconduct or breaking of rules by the driver or a member of his/her pit crew will result in disqualification. Any driver or pit crewmember fighting, arguing, or demonstrating unsportsmanlike behavior will also be disqualified. NO drugs or alcohol in the pit area. Any driver or pit crewmember believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol before or during the event will be disqualified and prohibited from participating in any future Thorp Lion’s Events. Driver and pit crewmembers fees will NOT be returned in the event of disqualification
19. NO two-way radios to be used by drivers
20. Questions, clarifications, and rules for the derby will be covered at the Mandatory Driver’s Meeting
21. Protest: $200.00 MUST accompany each protest and must be submitted within 3 minutes of completion of the feature event. Protest $$ must be in Chief official’s hands within 3 minutes of completion of feature. (Feature drivers only may protest each other. NO pit crews or other driver may be involved). If official finds the protested car to be illegal, the fee will be returned to the protester and protested car and driver will be disqualified. If the person being protested is legal he will be given the protested money. Protester MUST apply to winners only and pertain to a RULE VIOLATION that, in the opinion of the officials, gives the car an advantage. ALL winning cars are under OFFICIAL PROTEST by the Thorp Lions Club officials prior to awarding any prize money. Lions Chief Official has final decision over any interpretation of the rules and regulations
22. Entry fees to be paid before inspection. Failure to pass inspection will result in forfeiture of entry fee. After initial inspection you will be allowed 1 re-inspection. Failure of 2nd inspection will result in disqualification.
23. Lion’s Officials and Flagman’s judgment is FINAL. This derby will be inspected fairly and cheating will result in disqualification.
RULES FOR ALL CARS:
Judges and Inspectors decisions are final
1. Car Stripping – all glass, outside hardware, etc. must be removed, NO glass left in doors. NO flammable materials such as carpet, upholstery, or headliners to be left in cars. Judges discretion
2. Car Preparation – Front seat must be securely mounted (not reinforced or bolted to frame). Must have seat belts. Must have operating brakes. NO adding of weight or reinforcing, unless specified. NO buffing, grinding, undercoating, or painting of frames,
3. All objects attached to the outside of car must be securely fastened and meet judges approval
4. Cars can be decorated in any manner in good taste. NO obscene or offensive materials will be allowed
5. Driver’s door must be left clear for numbering. Or, if you provide number, it must be on driver’s door and legible.
6. Patching holes is for safety, NO reinforcing, the only holes you will be allowed to fix are where you put your feet, battery or gas tank. Sheet metal only 2” past rust. There will be no other body or frame patching
7. Two vertical steel bars MUST be run from the roof of the car to the body (not the hood) in front of the driver. Nylon racing type window nets are strongly recommended MUST be able to remove quickly in case of emergency. We DO NOT recommend you to cover driver’s window with steel or mesh type material. If used, may be fastened in 4 spots with no more than 3/8” rod
8. Wagon tailgate must be in factory position or removed. Floor door to be removed
9. You must run a hood, hood to be in near original position with minimal space between it and cowl, and have a min. of 10” hole , holes in hood may be stitched with max (8) 3/8” bolts per opening
10. Trunk lid quarter panels must remain in stock location. Minimal amount of folding them over into the trunk lid is allowed. Tail light panel must not be beat down to cause ramp effect. Only trunk lid can be modified and it must remain 50% in stock location
11. Transmission coolers are acceptable. Cooler may be mounted inside of car. All lines traveling inside of driver’s compartment must be metal lines or high pressure hydraulic lines, and run thru some form of another hose. Max. total size of cooler 24” x 24” x 18” including mounts.
12. Battery must be mounted in front seat and be secured, fastened, and covered.
13. Radiators must be left in original position or taken out. NO auxiliary engine coolers, NO anti-freeze. Nylon straps, steel bands, chain,or wire may only be used to support radiator.
14. Trailer hitch must be completely removed
15. NO welding of chain links to form a bar
16. Gas and Gas Tanks – 5 gallon fuel cell highly recommended. Original gas tanks must be removed. Gas tanks must me metal, secured, and located on the floor in the back seat area. Gas line may not run under car. Gas tank must be covered. Pump fuel only, NO alcohol, menthol, or diesel. Cars are restricted to a max. of 6 gallons of gas per event. All gas in pit area must be in a red container. Gas spillage may result in disqualification. Electric fuel pumps must have a clearly marked shut-off switch accessible by driver. Drain holes to be drilled around tank
17. Tires – Max. height for classes. NO wheel weights, double or split rims. NO studded tires. Valve stem guards are permitted, must be securely mounted. Tires may be fastened to rims with screws.
18. Air bags and charges to be removed by unbolting, NOT cutting out just air bags.
Super Stock Class Rules & Regulations
Derby car entry fee: $80.00, cash only, includes driver pit pass

Any year automotive vehicle 1960-2013 is allowed, Except the following 1974 and older Chrysler Imperials, 2003 and newer Ford's, Mercury's or Lincoln's including suicide Lincoln's
**NO distributor protectors ** NO steel or aluminum aftermarket transmission bell housings allowed except jw contoured ultra-bells or similar to repair broken trans. Basic motor mounted cradle with pulley protector are allowed, with rubber bushing frame mounts, no solid mounts to frame. sway bar cannot be in contact with pulley protector at any time.** Only contoured transmission protectors allowed but must not be used for any other purpose or you will not run, protector cannot be more than 2" wider than the factory housing..Transmission must be free floating if running protector with 2" gap from contacting anything . If protector is wedged in tunnel you will be asked to cut tunnel to provide relief. Do not alter the firewall or floor to add strength. **No mid plates allowed unless used solely to change trans bolt pattern, and do not exceed 2" wider or taller than transmission. Midplate cannot be connected to cradle.
** Top seam may be welded firewall forward, weld not to exceed 1/2" wide. **Tilting front by cutting, moving is legal. 80s and newer vehicles may cold bend at cross member, no added steel other than 6" angle for mounting cross member. Minimum 6" from crush box. Do not weld more than necessary to do this or weld flap solid!
**Safety: Functioning seatbelts, Helmets, Eye Protection, Long pants, sturdy shoes or boots are mandatory. Racing Suit recommended.** All air bags and charges must be completely removed before arriving to track for competition.
**Preparation: All glass, headlights, tail lights, chrome, fiberglass header panels, carpeting, antennas, hubcaps, wheel weights, and garbage must be removed before coming to the track for competition. Trailer Hitches must be completely removed.
**Gas Tanks: Factory gas tank MUST be removed, In place you must use a 10 gallon max steel tank to be mounted on floor directly behind driver. Must have clamped fittings to tank. Only approved fuel lines may be used. Pump gas only. Tanks must be bolted, chained, or 2 ratchet straps to floor and be very secure to pass inspection. NO FACTORY GAS TANKS ALLOWED... (Fuel Tank Protectors will be allowed off rear seat bars, Nothing to frame, 30" wide maximum by 18” tall, 6" above floor minimum, Fuel tank Protectors are for that purpose only - Protectors can be tight but not wedged to alter rear seat tin or you will remove completely. Wagons can have protector 1” away from rear center hump, 6” off floor measured down by 18” high 24” wide.
**Batteries: Only 1 or 2 automotive type batteries or 1 larger style battery of choice is permitted. Batteries must be mounted to floor on front passenger side of vehicle. Must be covered and secured firmly to pass inspection. No excessively large battery boxes!
**Windshields: Must be removed before arrival for competition. In place: 2 chains, or straps mounted from firewall to roof vertically for driver safety. Must use bolts or welding to secure.
**Hoods: Must have a minimum of 12" hole in hood in case of fire. To hold hood down you are required a Minimum of 2 (36" maximum) chains, wires, or threaded rods (maximum 1" diameter). Threaded rod may run through frame at core support bolts(factory core support must remain in factory position) or be welded a-frame forward vertically to frame no more than 6" total. Maximum of 6 chains, wires, or threaded rods may be used. Only 2 threaded rods can go to frame, vertically only, other 4 rods sheet metal to sheet metal. Rods cannot extend out of hood more than 6". Hood plates used with rods should not exceed 6"x6"x3/8" in size. You may use up to (10) 3/8" max. bolts per hood to secure hood webbing when cutting out hood. If hood does not cover fan, fan must be removed. Core support spacers must not exceed 6" in height 3"x3" square or round in place of factory spacer. May not be welded to frame or body. All frame mounts core supports must remain as factory!
**Doors: May be welded or chained. 2 spots of chain or wire per door seam or 2 plates welded per seam. Chains cannot exceed 36" ..plates no larger than 6x3x1/4"..
**Trunks: Maximum 4 spots of the following items may be used to secure trunk lid: wire, cable, chain, threaded rod or welded plate not to exceed 6"x3"x3/8". ONLY (2) rods maximum 1" diameter may connect to frame. Rods may go through mount or be welded vertically to frame between the mounts with no more than 6" of weld. Top trunk lid plates for rods cannot exceed 6"x6"x3/8" in size. Do not exceed 4" round or square for plates inside trunk to secure if bolting in rods. There must be a way for us to see inside trunk for inspections. Trunks cannot create a ramp effect. 12" maximum dish from factory position , do not remove speaker deck. Trunks may not be moved forward and may only be tucked maximum of 50%. Mopars may weld 2 3 inch by 5 inch flat stock per seam, if you choose this route then you may only have two 3/4" rods from floor to trunk lid vertically.
**Frames: No welding of frame unless stated in the rules. No pinning or chaining of frame rails. You may put 4 loops of #9 wire from roof to frame behind the front seat. Frames may not be shortened more than 4" from factory. Do not make or move any factory mounts from factory. Sway bars cannot be altered other than removing links and replacing with 3/8" bolt.
**Tailgates: MUST be chained, wired, or welded in 4 places maximum. Chains or wire may not exceed 36" (Two items per vertical seam). If welding tailgate- Plates not to exceed 6"x3"x3/8". No threaded rods allowed in tailgate. Chains may go around bumper and tailgate.
**Radiators: Factory stock style in original position containing water only. No auxiliary coolers allowed. Expanded metal radiators protectors are allowed, but do not reinforce the car with radiator with steel enclosure. Guards not to exceed width of radiator.
**Fenders: Fenders may be trimmed. Each fender may have up to 5 bolts per fender no larger than 3/8" in size, with washers also no larger than 1" in outside diameter. Excess bolt material must be trimmed.
**Interior Mounted Safety Bars: Maximum of a 4 point cage allowed- Consisting of (1) dash bar mounted horizontally above factory steering column location of minimum of 6" from center of firewall- (1) Seat bar must be mounted from door post to door post directly behind driver's seat 3" up or down from center line of seat- Door bars may by connected to front and rear bar only (1) per side only. No bar may extend more than 8" past middle doorpost. 2 bars per side may go from door bar to floor sheet metal only within area of door only (not) forward or back of door... Bar may be bolted or welded in. Welds must pass inspection. Plates used to bolt in bar must not exceed 4"x4"x3/8". Bar diameters minimum of 3" maximum of 6" with a minimum of 1/4" thickness. Halo (roll over) bars are legal but can only be mounted to rear seat bar. Halo bars may be bolted to roof only near center of the roof with a maximum of (2) bolts. Only bottom doorpost seam on middle door pillars may be welded. No other interior seams may be welded. Rear window bar allowed, 3" round or square, cannot be connected to halo bar in any way. Plates not to exceed 6"x6". Must split between trunk lid & speaker deck. May be bolted or welded. May not touch trunk floor. You may weld in a bar for shifter but it must remain 6" above the tunnel.
**Bumpers and brackets: Any automotive bumper may be used. Bumpers may be reinforced, but must follow factory dimensions. After market bumpers are legal but must not exceed width of car and cannot have a point greater than 2", or be taller than 6"..If using tube steel maximum dimensions are 6" tall by 6" deep by 3/8" thick. All factory brackets can be welded, no further back than 8" from center of front mount hole. shock must remain in bracket. You cannot use back brackets on the front. You cannot weld shock to top of frame. You may hard nose by welding bumper directly to the frame without use of shocks. In case bumper comes free you may use 2 places per bumper of 9 gauge 4 loops max to core support, 2 chains 30" in length or 2 plates 2" x 3/8" thick with maximum 3" material welded to support front or top not both. rear bumper to tail light area only, not wrapped around threaded rods in front or rear.
**Suspension: 21" height maximum to bottom of bumpers from ground. 15" Minimum height of bumper of frame whichever is lowest. You may obtain this by bolting or welding suspension by using (2) 2"x8"x 3/8" strap per side, up to 3/4 rod vertically in center of spring area, or changing springs, straps must be welded straight down not forward or back on the frame. Upper and lower rear control arms may be reinforced but must start as OEM and remain operational as factory. You may also use 2 chains or cables to hold in rear end in wagons or sedans. No bigger than 3/8" diameter chain, and no more than 1 loop from rear end to frame humps. Do not reinforce frame in gaining height or you will not run! No oversized ball joints, tie rods, or after market spindles. Tie rods may be reinforced but must start oem. 9 oem automotive leaf springs maximum, nothing on top of main, 2" stager in front of axle 3" stager back of axle. 4 clamps up to 2" by 1/4" thickness max, using max 7/16" bolts
**Body Bolts: Maximum 1/2" diameter bolts. Except core support than can be 1" in diameter. Body pucks may be removed. Do not extend bolts through bottom of frame, but may go through into body. Your may use up to 4" diameter washers or plates and 1 nut to hold plates inside of car only. Maximum of 3" body pucks height if changed. Must be individual spacers for each mount
**Engines and Transmissions: Any engine in any make of vehicle allowed. In addition to factory motor mounts you may use 2 chains (1 per side) of 2 small plates to secure engine in bay. Do not use chains or plates to reinforce the frame structure. Vertical stacks must be mounted securely and pass inspection. factory Transmission cross members may be bolted or welded in, you may also use steel tubing (2" square max) in place of the factory cross member. Cross member may be welded to frame using a max of 6" angle iron per side., must not be mounted within 6" of crush box. Transmission coolers are permitted, but must pass inspection. Do not mount anything to catch cross member to reinforce the car.
**Rear ends: Any OEM automotive or truck rear end of choice up to 8 bolts including free floating rear ends. No dual setups. Hybrid rear ends are also legal using factory components. Rear ends may be braced but cannot reinforce the frame or car in any way, cannot be braced to assist gas tank protector. No aftermarket oversized rear ends allowed.
**Steering, brakes, gas pedal, shifter .You may run aftermarket steering with heim joints mounted to dash bar. Brakes and gas pedal may be after market but cannot reinforce car!
**Wheels and tires. No solid steel weld in centers! You may weld in 7" maximum centers to change bolt patterns. 14-16" wheels are legal. Doubled, foam filled tires legal. No homemade wheels, No rim protectors, no bead locks.
Sedans may plate humps. This plate can be up to 3/8"x4"x18"long. 77 and newer may convert to leaf springs using 9 automotive springs per side, with maximum of 4 clamps per side. 48" minimum main spring 2" stagger. Must be automotive type. Must be centered on hump. You may bolt or weld in hangers or put inside frame and bolt. May cold bend only. There is no cold bending allowed on 1979 and older cars. 1970-74 caddy transmission cross members cannot make contact with both outside and the inside frame section at anytime. Choose to mount cross member in one place or the other, NOT both. bumper shocks must remain in the brackets.
All cars may use up to 6 - 6x6x1/4 plates on frame rails. Pre-run will be allowed up to 8 steel maybe added for bumper. Attachment no fully back than 8" from center of front core support hole not excessive.
Stock Midsize

Mid-size 4 cyl. and 6 cyl. ONLY, no full framed cars. No wheel base over 111”
Hood – 6 spots total maybe chains (24”), wire (4 loops) maximum. 2 spots maybe max. of 1” threaded rod, these may go to frame max 4” x 4” washers, no spacers, rod only, rubber in front sub maybe removed
Trunk – May have 4 hold downs, 24”chains, 4 loops wire – 2 may go to framing, 2 sheet metal to sheet metal
Doors – 2 chains (24”) each per door, 2 – 4 loop wire or 2 -2” x 6” plates. Driver’s door maybe welded solid max. 2” wide plates, reinforced with external plate can’t extend more than 2” past vertical door seams
Wheels – Aluminum may be changed to steel, no reinforcing, no after market
Tires – DOT, max. height 26”
Engines – No protectors, stock mounts, NO headers, NO carb convertors
Suspension - must remain completely stock, struts maybe tack welded or clamped
Cage – 4 point cage, dash bar, back seat bar, drivers and passenger door bars and halo. All cage materials max. 4” tube Door bars no further than 6” from back of seat. Gas tank protector is recommended, extending rear ward no farther than most forward point of wheel wells. 4” off floor and in line with back seat opening.
Front bumper – may be swapped with 80 and newer full size steeI. If you cannot find steel bumper, you may use tube steel 4” x 4” x ¼” thick no wider than car. You may mount by bolting or welding to flanges only. Max. 6” long tube inside of uni-body frame to weld bumper to. May only be attached to frame by bolting 2 bolts per side max. 2” washers, may also weld factory flanges – NO other adding of metal.
Stock style radiator only, ¼” mesh protector allowed, NO angle iron – just mesh
Sheet metal can be creased
Rear bumper -maybe swapped out, welded to factory flanges only, NO adding metal
Speaker deck maybe dished max. of 3” Back window bar max. 2x 2” ,3/8” thick from speaker deck to roof
Modified Mid-Size

Mini vans may run this class but FWD only
BODY: NO WELDING OF INTERIOR SEAMS. Wheel wells maybe cut. Sunroofs must be filled with a security fastened sheet. Front lower fender may be cut or folded to allow tire clearance – you may use bolts, 6 bolts maximum, NO welding. Rust spots may not be fixed other than floor board holes. You may crease cars in this class.
HOOD: Hood MUST have 10”-12”hole on either side of the air cleaner if the exhaust is not run through the hood. Hood may be secured in 6 spots by bolts, chains, or #9 wire; you may ONLY use up to 3 loops. Hood hinges count as 2 secured points. Bolts or threaded rod may not exceed 1” in diameter and not to extend 6” above hood and a maximum length of 30” total. ONLY 2 bolts or threaded rod may be connected to the frame. Front 2 bolts or threaded rods may be welded to frame but not to exceed weld of 6” only and may be welded on both sides of rod. All threaded rod must run vertical from frame to hood NO bending around frame will be permitted. You may add two extra body mounts of your choosing, 1inch rod max must be vertical. Washers or metal plates may not exceed 6” X 6” in diameter and ½” thick. Chain or wire may not exceed 36” in length and no more than 3 loops. Secure your hood only AFTER your car passes tech inspection. NO chains or wire around frame. You may use up to (8) 3/8” bolts to fasten the two layers of hood together.
TRUNK AND TAILGATE: Trunk MUST be empty and free of dirt and debris. Trunks may be tucked up to 50% or you may wedge trunk but sides must remain at least 50% vertical. It must be secured with either chain, #9 wire, or threaded rod; on tailgates you may weld 2 plates of steel per vertical seam NO larger than 3” X 6” X 1/4”. Trunk may be secured in 6 spots by bolts, chain, #9 wire or you can do 5 on 5 off 3in wide 1/8 plates. Bolts not to exceed over 6” above trunk lid and maximum length of 30” total. ONLY 4 bolts or threaded rods may be connected to frame and must remain horizontal. 1in rod max!! You may weld to frame but welds not to exceed weld of 6”only and may be welded on both sides of rod. All threaded rods must run vertical from frame to trunk lid NO bending around frame will be permitted. Chains and wires are not to exceed 24” in length and not to wrap around more than twice. Washers or metal plates may not exceed 6” X 6” in diameter and ½” thick. You may use a shock or 6in piece of 2x2 tube to mount rear bumper on rear of car.
DOORS: All doors MUST be securely closed. The doors may be welded solid with 3" wide 1/8" plate or you may chain or nine wire doors. NO welding on inside of doors.
WINDOWS: Two vertical steel bars MUST run from the roof of the car to the body (not the hood) in front of the driver. DO NOT cover driver’s window with steel or mesh type material for safety reasons. A rear window bar will be permitted, it may be welded to halo and can go to any point you choose. Bar must be no bigger than 2x2 square tube.
BUMPERS: ANY bumper is legal just no extreme points!! All mounting brackets mounting to the back of the bumper, or frame, or shocks may be welded to secure firmly. You may run a 4x6 3/8 plate from bumper back but no further. This plate may go on either side of sub frame, but only one plate per side not two!!! May run any automotive shock inside or outside of frame of your choice or a 12in piece of tube and you may run a 4in wide 3/8 from bumper to strut on any side you want but only one plate per side.
CHASSIS: You may be seam welded from front A arms forward. Trailer hitches and mounting brackets MUST be removed. You may use stock or modified steering columns. You may replace or modify knuckles and/or joints in steering assembly. Reinforced tie rods are ok. Must use factory lower control arms but can be reinforced. You may swap out cradle bolts with one max of 1in bolts.
INTERIOR: With the exception of floor shifters, ALL large holes in floor pans must be patched with sheet metal. Holes may be cut in the firewall to allow distributor cap or other components to move beyond the firewall. Any holes cut into the firewall for this purpose strongly recommended to be covered with a non-flammable or rubber material .Driver’s seat and DOT approved seat belts MUST be securely mounted. You may have a four point cage with halo. You may also have 4 down tubes from side bars to floor only welded to sheet metal only. Halo may be bolted in two spots too roof. Cage must be inside car, not past rear wheels/trunk or past firewall.
SUSPENSION: Bumper height maximum 22” from ground to bottom of bumper and it is strictly enforced. You may run solid front and rear suspension. Coil springs may be changed but bumper height must remain 22” or less. A straight axle in rear may be used or home made rear axle no bigger than 3x3 and must mount in factory location. Leaf springs permitted, (mini van style rear axle). Leaf springs can be no bigger than factory specs of oem 3/4 ton leaf packs. Rear wheel drive may chain rear end solid and fab up rear brackets to make rear end fit if need too.
ENGINE: Firewall may be beat back or cut out for clearance. Engine or pulley protectors and carb protectors will be allowed. Carburetor must have an air filter. Headers and stacks are permitted, but MUST be completely vertical. Motors may be pressured in to firewall.
RADIATOR: Radiator MUST be located in stock position. Radi-barrels or other homemade type radiators will be allowed. You may NOT reinforce or add any metal to core support. Nylon straps, bolts, steel bands, chain or wire may only be used to support radiator. Water ONLY, please flush out coolant. If you run a radiator fan you must run a hood.
REAR END AND TRANSMISSION: Transmission coolers are acceptable. Cooler may be mounted inside of car but MUST be NO longer than 24” X 24” X 18”, this means that the complete unit including box around cooler NOT to exceed these dimensions. Rear wheel drive cars may run tranny cradles and a slider drive shaft. They may also use any rear end of there choice.
GAS TANK: Six-gallon or bigger fuel cell highly recommended. Original gas tank MUST be removed, may NOT use original fuel tank inside car NO exceptions. Tank MUST be metal, NO plastic or stock fuel tanks will be allowed, NO exceptions. Marine style gas tanks are acceptable. NO plastic or jerry cans. Tanks MUST be securely mounted and all connections must be secure and leak-proof. Stop check valves are highly recommended. Gas tanks must be completely covered. Pump fuel only (NO Alcohol or methanol). Fuel Line rubber fuel line is highly recommended from gas tank to fuel pump. Electric Fuel pumps are acceptable but MUST have shut off switch within drivers reach and clearly marked for fire officials. NO plastic lines. Gas spillage will result in disqualification. Fuel tank protectors will be allowed, but no wider than 24 in.
TIRES &RIMS: Any ply, 12”, 13”, 14”, or 15” tires are permitted. Maximum allowance of 31”tall and 7” width double tires (tire inside tire), rubber inner-liners or solid rubber tires are acceptable. NO studded tires. NO wheel weights, double rims or split rims. Valve stem guards are permitted. Full weld in centers and bead lock/rim protectors will be allowed.

Power Wheels Derby is for kids 2 –10 years old. All kids MUST be accompanied by an adult and have a Minor Release form on file
Derby is limited to 12 Volt Power Wheels only. All power wheels must remain as they came from the store. Nothing may be added or reinforced for strength. Paint them up and let the kids have a blast!!!!
Stock tires only
All power wheels must set like the store bought ones – no raising or lowering the front or rear of the power wheels
Stock battery can be replaced with a 12 volt mower battery only. It can be positioned anywhere inside the car and covered, not in the passenger seat
Rollover bars will be allowed as long as we feel they are safe and don’t reinforce the cars - so bring your saws
Helmets are mandatory
Seatbelts are recommended
Doors and hoods must be secured with a bungee cord, rope, or similar
Power Wheels Derby will be held after heats

3 cars will be accepted after 12:30 & before 1:00 – providing they pay an additional $25.00 per car entry fee.

EVENT RULES:
1. No one allowed in pits without a Pit Pass
2. All pit crew members must be at least 14 years old. People with pit passes must sign an insurance waiver
3. Absolutely NO children will be allowed in pits
4. Absolutely NO alcoholic beverages in the pit area. Any possession of alcoholic beverages in the Pit area will result in loss of Pit Pass with no refund along with removal from the Pit Area.
5. Drivers must be 14 years old and a parental or legal guardian must sign a form in person or bring it notarized when registering
6. All drivers are required to wear pants and shirts during competition. NO shorts are allowed for drivers. Approved safety helmets and seat belts are required. Eye protection, long sleeve shirts, and fire protective clothing is recommended
7. Thorp Lions Club reserves the right to approve, reject or re-inspect any and all entries at the event at any time. Mandatory re-inspection for all cars placing. Any alterations after inspections will be cause for disqualification.
8. NO using driver’s door as a shield
9. Absolutely NO hitting on the driver’s door will be permitted. Judge’s decision is Final. Any door that comes open during the event will result in disqualification
10. NO getting out of your car or removing of helmet in car unless otherwise instructed by an official
11. No sandbagging or holding. You will get 1 warning and the second will result in disqualification. This will be taken seriously
12. Rollovers may result in driver’s disqualification at the discretion of Lions Officials
13. Any reckless driving in the pits will result in disqualification
14. Any vehicle leaking fuel will be disqualified
15. Thorp Lions Club will not be responsible for any vehicle or its components while on the grounds. These cars are the responsibility of the drivers and their owners. All cars left at the site the following day will be sold for junk for Lions Benefit
16. We may or may not run heats, depending on number of cars
17. Vehicle must have secured DOT approved seat belts. A 2.5 dry chemical fire extinguisher inside the car within the driver’s reach is highly recommended
18. Drivers and pit crewmembers MUST follow all stated rules. Any misconduct or breaking of rules by the driver or a member of his/her pit crew will result in disqualification. Any driver or pit crewmember fighting, arguing, or demonstrating unsportsmanlike behavior will also be disqualified. NO drugs or alcohol in the pit area. Any driver or pit crewmember believed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol before or during the event will be disqualified and prohibited from participating in any future Thorp Lion’s Events. Driver and pit crewmembers fees will NOT be returned in the event of disqualification
19. NO two-way radios to be used by drivers
20. Questions, clarifications, and rules for the derby will be covered at the Mandatory Driver’s Meeting
21. Protest: $200.00 MUST accompany each protest and must be submitted within 3 minutes of completion of the feature event. Protest $$ must be in Chief official’s hands within 3 minutes of completion of feature. (Feature drivers only may protest each other. NO pit crews or other driver may be involved). If official finds the protested car to be illegal, the fee will be returned to the protester and protested car and driver will be disqualified. If the person being protested is legal he will be given the protested money. Protester MUST apply to winners only and pertain to a RULE VIOLATION that, in the opinion of the officials, gives the car an advantage. ALL winning cars are under OFFICIAL PROTEST by the Thorp Lions Club officials prior to awarding any prize money. Lions Chief Official has final decision over any interpretation of the rules and regulations
22. Entry fees to be paid before inspection. Failure to pass inspection will result in forfeiture of entry fee. After initial inspection you will be allowed 1 re-inspection. Failure of 2nd inspection will result in disqualification.
23. Lion’s Officials and Flagman’s judgment is FINAL. This derby will be inspected fairly and cheating will result in disqualification.
RULES FOR ALL CARS:
Judges and Inspectors decisions are final
1. Car Stripping – all glass, outside hardware, etc. must be removed, NO glass left in doors. NO flammable materials such as carpet, upholstery, or headliners to be left in cars. Judges discretion
2. Car Preparation – Front seat must be securely mounted (not reinforced or bolted to frame). Must have seat belts. Must have operating brakes. NO adding of weight or reinforcing, unless specified. NO buffing, grinding, undercoating, or painting of frames,
3. All objects attached to the outside of car must be securely fastened and meet judges approval
4. Cars can be decorated in any manner in good taste. NO obscene or offensive materials will be allowed
5. Driver’s door must be left clear for numbering. Or, if you provide number, it must be on driver’s door and legible.
6. Patching holes is for safety, NO reinforcing, the only holes you will be allowed to fix are where you put your feet, battery or gas tank. Sheet metal only 2” past rust. There will be no other body or frame patching
7. Two vertical steel bars MUST be run from the roof of the car to the body (not the hood) in front of the driver. Nylon racing type window nets are strongly recommended MUST be able to remove quickly in case of emergency. We DO NOT recommend you to cover driver’s window with steel or mesh type material. If used, may be fastened in 4 spots with no more than 3/8” rod
8. Wagon tailgate must be in factory position or removed. Floor door to be removed
9. You must run a hood, hood to be in near original position with minimal space between it and cowl, and have a min. of 10” hole , holes in hood may be stitched with max (8) 3/8” bolts per opening
10. Trunk lid quarter panels must remain in stock location. Minimal amount of folding them over into the trunk lid is allowed. Tail light panel must not be beat down to cause ramp effect. Only trunk lid can be modified and it must remain 50% in stock location
11. Transmission coolers are acceptable. Cooler may be mounted inside of car. All lines traveling inside of driver’s compartment must be metal lines or high pressure hydraulic lines, and run thru some form of another hose. Max. total size of cooler 24” x 24” x 18” including mounts.
12. Battery must be mounted in front seat and be secured, fastened, and covered.
13. Radiators must be left in original position or taken out. NO auxiliary engine coolers, NO anti-freeze. Nylon straps, steel bands, chain,or wire may only be used to support radiator.
14. Trailer hitch must be completely removed
15. NO welding of chain links to form a bar
16. Gas and Gas Tanks – 5 gallon fuel cell highly recommended. Original gas tanks must be removed. Gas tanks must me metal, secured, and located on the floor in the back seat area. Gas line may not run under car. Gas tank must be covered. Pump fuel only, NO alcohol, menthol, or diesel. Cars are restricted to a max. of 6 gallons of gas per event. All gas in pit area must be in a red container. Gas spillage may result in disqualification. Electric fuel pumps must have a clearly marked shut-off switch accessible by driver. Drain holes to be drilled around tank
17. Tires – Max. height for classes. NO wheel weights, double or split rims. NO studded tires. Valve stem guards are permitted, must be securely mounted. Tires may be fastened to rims with screws.
18. Air bags and charges to be removed by unbolting, NOT cutting out just air bags.
Super Stock Class Rules & Regulations

Any year automotive vehicle 1960-2013 is allowed, Except the following 1974 and older Chrysler Imperials, 2003 and newer Ford's, Mercury's or Lincoln's including suicide Lincoln's
**NO distributor protectors ** NO steel or aluminum aftermarket transmission bell housings allowed except jw contoured ultra-bells or similar to repair broken trans. Basic motor mounted cradle with pulley protector are allowed, with rubber bushing frame mounts, no solid mounts to frame. sway bar cannot be in contact with pulley protector at any time.** Only contoured transmission protectors allowed but must not be used for any other purpose or you will not run, protector cannot be more than 2" wider than the factory housing..Transmission must be free floating if running protector with 2" gap from contacting anything . If protector is wedged in tunnel you will be asked to cut tunnel to provide relief. Do not alter the firewall or floor to add strength. **No mid plates allowed unless used solely to change trans bolt pattern, and do not exceed 2" wider or taller than transmission. Midplate cannot be connected to cradle.
** Top seam may be welded firewall forward, weld not to exceed 1/2" wide. **Tilting front by cutting, moving is legal. 80s and newer vehicles may cold bend at cross member, no added steel other than 6" angle for mounting cross member. Minimum 6" from crush box. Do not weld more than necessary to do this or weld flap solid!
**Safety: Functioning seatbelts, Helmets, Eye Protection, Long pants, sturdy shoes or boots are mandatory. Racing Suit recommended.** All air bags and charges must be completely removed before arriving to track for competition.
**Preparation: All glass, headlights, tail lights, chrome, fiberglass header panels, carpeting, antennas, hubcaps, wheel weights, and garbage must be removed before coming to the track for competition. Trailer Hitches must be completely removed.
**Gas Tanks: Factory gas tank MUST be removed, In place you must use a 10 gallon max steel tank to be mounted on floor directly behind driver. Must have clamped fittings to tank. Only approved fuel lines may be used. Pump gas only. Tanks must be bolted, chained, or 2 ratchet straps to floor and be very secure to pass inspection. NO FACTORY GAS TANKS ALLOWED... (Fuel Tank Protectors will be allowed off rear seat bars, Nothing to frame, 30" wide maximum by 18” tall, 6" above floor minimum, Fuel tank Protectors are for that purpose only - Protectors can be tight but not wedged to alter rear seat tin or you will remove completely. Wagons can have protector 1” away from rear center hump, 6” off floor measured down by 18” high 24” wide.
**Batteries: Only 1 or 2 automotive type batteries or 1 larger style battery of choice is permitted. Batteries must be mounted to floor on front passenger side of vehicle. Must be covered and secured firmly to pass inspection. No excessively large battery boxes!
**Windshields: Must be removed before arrival for competition. In place: 2 chains, or straps mounted from firewall to roof vertically for driver safety. Must use bolts or welding to secure.
**Hoods: Must have a minimum of 12" hole in hood in case of fire. To hold hood down you are required a Minimum of 2 (36" maximum) chains, wires, or threaded rods (maximum 1" diameter). Threaded rod may run through frame at core support bolts(factory core support must remain in factory position) or be welded a-frame forward vertically to frame no more than 6" total. Maximum of 6 chains, wires, or threaded rods may be used. Only 2 threaded rods can go to frame, vertically only, other 4 rods sheet metal to sheet metal. Rods cannot extend out of hood more than 6". Hood plates used with rods should not exceed 6"x6"x3/8" in size. You may use up to (10) 3/8" max. bolts per hood to secure hood webbing when cutting out hood. If hood does not cover fan, fan must be removed. Core support spacers must not exceed 6" in height 3"x3" square or round in place of factory spacer. May not be welded to frame or body. All frame mounts core supports must remain as factory!
**Doors: May be welded or chained. 2 spots of chain or wire per door seam or 2 plates welded per seam. Chains cannot exceed 36" ..plates no larger than 6x3x1/4"..
**Trunks: Maximum 4 spots of the following items may be used to secure trunk lid: wire, cable, chain, threaded rod or welded plate not to exceed 6"x3"x3/8". ONLY (2) rods maximum 1" diameter may connect to frame. Rods may go through mount or be welded vertically to frame between the mounts with no more than 6" of weld. Top trunk lid plates for rods cannot exceed 6"x6"x3/8" in size. Do not exceed 4" round or square for plates inside trunk to secure if bolting in rods. There must be a way for us to see inside trunk for inspections. Trunks cannot create a ramp effect. 12" maximum dish from factory position , do not remove speaker deck. Trunks may not be moved forward and may only be tucked maximum of 50%. Mopars may weld 2 3 inch by 5 inch flat stock per seam, if you choose this route then you may only have two 3/4" rods from floor to trunk lid vertically.
**Frames: No welding of frame unless stated in the rules. No pinning or chaining of frame rails. You may put 4 loops of #9 wire from roof to frame behind the front seat. Frames may not be shortened more than 4" from factory. Do not make or move any factory mounts from factory. Sway bars cannot be altered other than removing links and replacing with 3/8" bolt.
**Tailgates: MUST be chained, wired, or welded in 4 places maximum. Chains or wire may not exceed 36" (Two items per vertical seam). If welding tailgate- Plates not to exceed 6"x3"x3/8". No threaded rods allowed in tailgate. Chains may go around bumper and tailgate.
**Radiators: Factory stock style in original position containing water only. No auxiliary coolers allowed. Expanded metal radiators protectors are allowed, but do not reinforce the car with radiator with steel enclosure. Guards not to exceed width of radiator.
**Fenders: Fenders may be trimmed. Each fender may have up to 5 bolts per fender no larger than 3/8" in size, with washers also no larger than 1" in outside diameter. Excess bolt material must be trimmed.
**Interior Mounted Safety Bars: Maximum of a 4 point cage allowed- Consisting of (1) dash bar mounted horizontally above factory steering column location of minimum of 6" from center of firewall- (1) Seat bar must be mounted from door post to door post directly behind driver's seat 3" up or down from center line of seat- Door bars may by connected to front and rear bar only (1) per side only. No bar may extend more than 8" past middle doorpost. 2 bars per side may go from door bar to floor sheet metal only within area of door only (not) forward or back of door... Bar may be bolted or welded in. Welds must pass inspection. Plates used to bolt in bar must not exceed 4"x4"x3/8". Bar diameters minimum of 3" maximum of 6" with a minimum of 1/4" thickness. Halo (roll over) bars are legal but can only be mounted to rear seat bar. Halo bars may be bolted to roof only near center of the roof with a maximum of (2) bolts. Only bottom doorpost seam on middle door pillars may be welded. No other interior seams may be welded. Rear window bar allowed, 3" round or square, cannot be connected to halo bar in any way. Plates not to exceed 6"x6". Must split between trunk lid & speaker deck. May be bolted or welded. May not touch trunk floor. You may weld in a bar for shifter but it must remain 6" above the tunnel.
**Bumpers and brackets: Any automotive bumper may be used. Bumpers may be reinforced, but must follow factory dimensions. After market bumpers are legal but must not exceed width of car and cannot have a point greater than 2", or be taller than 6"..If using tube steel maximum dimensions are 6" tall by 6" deep by 3/8" thick. All factory brackets can be welded, no further back than 8" from center of front mount hole. shock must remain in bracket. You cannot use back brackets on the front. You cannot weld shock to top of frame. You may hard nose by welding bumper directly to the frame without use of shocks. In case bumper comes free you may use 2 places per bumper of 9 gauge 4 loops max to core support, 2 chains 30" in length or 2 plates 2" x 3/8" thick with maximum 3" material welded to support front or top not both. rear bumper to tail light area only, not wrapped around threaded rods in front or rear.
**Suspension: 21" height maximum to bottom of bumpers from ground. 15" Minimum height of bumper of frame whichever is lowest. You may obtain this by bolting or welding suspension by using (2) 2"x8"x 3/8" strap per side, up to 3/4 rod vertically in center of spring area, or changing springs, straps must be welded straight down not forward or back on the frame. Upper and lower rear control arms may be reinforced but must start as OEM and remain operational as factory. You may also use 2 chains or cables to hold in rear end in wagons or sedans. No bigger than 3/8" diameter chain, and no more than 1 loop from rear end to frame humps. Do not reinforce frame in gaining height or you will not run! No oversized ball joints, tie rods, or after market spindles. Tie rods may be reinforced but must start oem. 9 oem automotive leaf springs maximum, nothing on top of main, 2" stager in front of axle 3" stager back of axle. 4 clamps up to 2" by 1/4" thickness max, using max 7/16" bolts
**Body Bolts: Maximum 1/2" diameter bolts. Except core support than can be 1" in diameter. Body pucks may be removed. Do not extend bolts through bottom of frame, but may go through into body. Your may use up to 4" diameter washers or plates and 1 nut to hold plates inside of car only. Maximum of 3" body pucks height if changed. Must be individual spacers for each mount
**Engines and Transmissions: Any engine in any make of vehicle allowed. In addition to factory motor mounts you may use 2 chains (1 per side) of 2 small plates to secure engine in bay. Do not use chains or plates to reinforce the frame structure. Vertical stacks must be mounted securely and pass inspection. factory Transmission cross members may be bolted or welded in, you may also use steel tubing (2" square max) in place of the factory cross member. Cross member may be welded to frame using a max of 6" angle iron per side., must not be mounted within 6" of crush box. Transmission coolers are permitted, but must pass inspection. Do not mount anything to catch cross member to reinforce the car.
**Rear ends: Any OEM automotive or truck rear end of choice up to 8 bolts including free floating rear ends. No dual setups. Hybrid rear ends are also legal using factory components. Rear ends may be braced but cannot reinforce the frame or car in any way, cannot be braced to assist gas tank protector. No aftermarket oversized rear ends allowed.
**Steering, brakes, gas pedal, shifter .You may run aftermarket steering with heim joints mounted to dash bar. Brakes and gas pedal may be after market but cannot reinforce car!
**Wheels and tires. No solid steel weld in centers! You may weld in 7" maximum centers to change bolt patterns. 14-16" wheels are legal. Doubled, foam filled tires legal. No homemade wheels, No rim protectors, no bead locks.
Sedans may plate humps. This plate can be up to 3/8"x4"x18"long. 77 and newer may convert to leaf springs using 9 automotive springs per side, with maximum of 4 clamps per side. 48" minimum main spring 2" stagger. Must be automotive type. Must be centered on hump. You may bolt or weld in hangers or put inside frame and bolt. May cold bend only. There is no cold bending allowed on 1979 and older cars. 1970-74 caddy transmission cross members cannot make contact with both outside and the inside frame section at anytime. Choose to mount cross member in one place or the other, NOT both. bumper shocks must remain in the brackets.
All cars may use up to 6 - 6x6x1/4 plates on frame rails. Pre-run will be allowed up to 8 steel maybe added for bumper. Attachment no fully back than 8" from center of front core support hole not excessive.

Doors – 2 chains (24”) each per door, 2 – 4 loop wire or 2 -2” x 6” plates. Driver’s door maybe welded solid max. 2” wide plates, reinforced with external plate can’t extend more than 2” past vertical door seams
Wheels – Aluminum may be changed to steel, no reinforcing, no after market
Tires – DOT, max. height 26”
Engines – No protectors, stock mounts, NO headers, NO carb convertors
Suspension - must remain completely stock, struts maybe tack welded or clamped
Cage – 4 point cage, dash bar, back seat bar, drivers and passenger door bars and halo. All cage materials max. 4” tube Door bars no further than 6” from back of seat. Gas tank protector is recommended, extending rear ward no farther than most forward point of wheel wells. 4” off floor and in line with back seat opening.
Front bumper – may be swapped with 80 and newer full size steeI. If you cannot find steel bumper, you may use tube steel 4” x 4” x ¼” thick no wider than car. You may mount by bolting or welding to flanges only. Max. 6” long tube inside of uni-body frame to weld bumper to. May only be attached to frame by bolting 2 bolts per side max. 2” washers, may also weld factory flanges – NO other adding of metal.
Stock style radiator only, ¼” mesh protector allowed, NO angle iron – just mesh
Sheet metal can be creased
Rear bumper -maybe swapped out, welded to factory flanges only, NO adding metal

BODY: NO WELDING OF INTERIOR SEAMS. Wheel wells maybe cut. Sunroofs must be filled with a security fastened sheet. Front lower fender may be cut or folded to allow tire clearance – you may use bolts, 6 bolts maximum, NO welding. Rust spots may not be fixed other than floor board holes. You may crease cars in this class.
HOOD: Hood MUST have 10”-12”hole on either side of the air cleaner if the exhaust is not run through the hood. Hood may be secured in 6 spots by bolts, chains, or #9 wire; you may ONLY use up to 3 loops. Hood hinges count as 2 secured points. Bolts or threaded rod may not exceed 1” in diameter and not to extend 6” above hood and a maximum length of 30” total. ONLY 2 bolts or threaded rod may be connected to the frame. Front 2 bolts or threaded rods may be welded to frame but not to exceed weld of 6” only and may be welded on both sides of rod. All threaded rod must run vertical from frame to hood NO bending around frame will be permitted. You may add two extra body mounts of your choosing, 1inch rod max must be vertical. Washers or metal plates may not exceed 6” X 6” in diameter and ½” thick. Chain or wire may not exceed 36” in length and no more than 3 loops. Secure your hood only AFTER your car passes tech inspection. NO chains or wire around frame. You may use up to (8) 3/8” bolts to fasten the two layers of hood together.
TRUNK AND TAILGATE: Trunk MUST be empty and free of dirt and debris. Trunks may be tucked up to 50% or you may wedge trunk but sides must remain at least 50% vertical. It must be secured with either chain, #9 wire, or threaded rod; on tailgates you may weld 2 plates of steel per vertical seam NO larger than 3” X 6” X 1/4”. Trunk may be secured in 6 spots by bolts, chain, #9 wire or you can do 5 on 5 off 3in wide 1/8 plates. Bolts not to exceed over 6” above trunk lid and maximum length of 30” total. ONLY 4 bolts or threaded rods may be connected to frame and must remain horizontal. 1in rod max!! You may weld to frame but welds not to exceed weld of 6”only and may be welded on both sides of rod. All threaded rods must run vertical from frame to trunk lid NO bending around frame will be permitted. Chains and wires are not to exceed 24” in length and not to wrap around more than twice. Washers or metal plates may not exceed 6” X 6” in diameter and ½” thick. You may use a shock or 6in piece of 2x2 tube to mount rear bumper on rear of car.
DOORS: All doors MUST be securely closed. The doors may be welded solid with 3" wide 1/8" plate or you may chain or nine wire doors. NO welding on inside of doors.
WINDOWS: Two vertical steel bars MUST run from the roof of the car to the body (not the hood) in front of the driver. DO NOT cover driver’s window with steel or mesh type material for safety reasons. A rear window bar will be permitted, it may be welded to halo and can go to any point you choose. Bar must be no bigger than 2x2 square tube.
BUMPERS: ANY bumper is legal just no extreme points!! All mounting brackets mounting to the back of the bumper, or frame, or shocks may be welded to secure firmly. You may run a 4x6 3/8 plate from bumper back but no further. This plate may go on either side of sub frame, but only one plate per side not two!!! May run any automotive shock inside or outside of frame of your choice or a 12in piece of tube and you may run a 4in wide 3/8 from bumper to strut on any side you want but only one plate per side.
CHASSIS: You may be seam welded from front A arms forward. Trailer hitches and mounting brackets MUST be removed. You may use stock or modified steering columns. You may replace or modify knuckles and/or joints in steering assembly. Reinforced tie rods are ok. Must use factory lower control arms but can be reinforced. You may swap out cradle bolts with one max of 1in bolts.
INTERIOR: With the exception of floor shifters, ALL large holes in floor pans must be patched with sheet metal. Holes may be cut in the firewall to allow distributor cap or other components to move beyond the firewall. Any holes cut into the firewall for this purpose strongly recommended to be covered with a non-flammable or rubber material .Driver’s seat and DOT approved seat belts MUST be securely mounted. You may have a four point cage with halo. You may also have 4 down tubes from side bars to floor only welded to sheet metal only. Halo may be bolted in two spots too roof. Cage must be inside car, not past rear wheels/trunk or past firewall.
SUSPENSION: Bumper height maximum 22” from ground to bottom of bumper and it is strictly enforced. You may run solid front and rear suspension. Coil springs may be changed but bumper height must remain 22” or less. A straight axle in rear may be used or home made rear axle no bigger than 3x3 and must mount in factory location. Leaf springs permitted, (mini van style rear axle). Leaf springs can be no bigger than factory specs of oem 3/4 ton leaf packs. Rear wheel drive may chain rear end solid and fab up rear brackets to make rear end fit if need too.
ENGINE: Firewall may be beat back or cut out for clearance. Engine or pulley protectors and carb protectors will be allowed. Carburetor must have an air filter. Headers and stacks are permitted, but MUST be completely vertical. Motors may be pressured in to firewall.
RADIATOR: Radiator MUST be located in stock position. Radi-barrels or other homemade type radiators will be allowed. You may NOT reinforce or add any metal to core support. Nylon straps, bolts, steel bands, chain or wire may only be used to support radiator. Water ONLY, please flush out coolant. If you run a radiator fan you must run a hood.
REAR END AND TRANSMISSION: Transmission coolers are acceptable. Cooler may be mounted inside of car but MUST be NO longer than 24” X 24” X 18”, this means that the complete unit including box around cooler NOT to exceed these dimensions. Rear wheel drive cars may run tranny cradles and a slider drive shaft. They may also use any rear end of there choice.
GAS TANK: Six-gallon or bigger fuel cell highly recommended. Original gas tank MUST be removed, may NOT use original fuel tank inside car NO exceptions. Tank MUST be metal, NO plastic or stock fuel tanks will be allowed, NO exceptions. Marine style gas tanks are acceptable. NO plastic or jerry cans. Tanks MUST be securely mounted and all connections must be secure and leak-proof. Stop check valves are highly recommended. Gas tanks must be completely covered. Pump fuel only (NO Alcohol or methanol). Fuel Line rubber fuel line is highly recommended from gas tank to fuel pump. Electric Fuel pumps are acceptable but MUST have shut off switch within drivers reach and clearly marked for fire officials. NO plastic lines. Gas spillage will result in disqualification. Fuel tank protectors will be allowed, but no wider than 24 in.
TIRES &RIMS: Any ply, 12”, 13”, 14”, or 15” tires are permitted. Maximum allowance of 31”tall and 7” width double tires (tire inside tire), rubber inner-liners or solid rubber tires are acceptable. NO studded tires. NO wheel weights, double rims or split rims. Valve stem guards are permitted. Full weld in centers and bead lock/rim protectors will be allowed.

This is supposed to be fun for the kids!! Parents, Please don’t ruin if for them
Power Wheels Derby is for kids 2 –10 years old. All kids MUST be accompanied by an adult and have a Minor Release form on file
Derby is limited to 12 Volt Power Wheels only. All power wheels must remain as they came from the store. Nothing may be added or reinforced for strength. Paint them up and let the kids have a blast!!!!
Stock tires only
All power wheels must set like the store bought ones – no raising or lowering the front or rear of the power wheels
Stock battery can be replaced with a 12 volt mower battery only. It can be positioned anywhere inside the car and covered, not in the passenger seat
Rollover bars will be allowed as long as we feel they are safe and don’t reinforce the cars - so bring your saws
Helmets are mandatory
Seatbelts are recommended
Doors and hoods must be secured with a bungee cord, rope, or similar
