For rules, allowed to cold tilt only, can change suspension and steering parts (have a whole box Vic suspension) allowed 2” angle iron (4 inches long) to weld on frame to mount bumper, or can use a bumper shock, and weld 4 inches and bolted the rest. Allowed a standard cage, 2 down bars to body. Also allowed to change rear end ad have about every option. 28 max to top of bumper. Allowed to stuff and bumper. Will have an Ls. Also must leave stock aluminum cradle. Can weld a arms down with 2 inch strapping. Just wondering and trying to decide what would be best. Never ran either, so everything will be new to me. I’ve read every page of each car, so just looking for peoples insight.

The leaf rules would be the kicker for me.
But after re-reading your rules I dont think you could get a bumper on the Galaxie very well with only 4" of weld but....the 4" of weld doesnt help the 03 much either.

Might get away with adding a few leafs, but not allowed anything special.

The 03 would probably hold the bumper better and still be good a arms forward. Without a good set of leafs I’m not sure about the back, gas tank Protector is another big thing

If you can’t get rid of the factory rear shackle on the Galaxie and only 4” of bumper welding..... I think your decision is made.

Maybe I should clarify, I am allowed to weld my bumper all the way around, I am just allowed to weld the shock or iron on 4 inches back from the bumper

If you can make your own shackle outback for the leafs, that’s basically the rule setup I built my galaxie to in September...aluminum cradle ain’t gonna get you nowhere on the 03,if your running against old iron...I think mine help up pretty decent considering it was pretty stock...I’m gonna run it again next September with 32” of plate

I know you can weld the bumper all the way around the end of the frame. That doesn’t matter much on the Galaxie frame that’s just channel out front. You have to be able to get back to the boxed portion but I don’t think 4” will get you there.
And 4” on the 03 won’t take up the whole crumple zone.
There’s a group around here that runs aluminum cradled 03+ against everything. Hold up fine.

Pg 50 in the 58-64 thread showed How I did the impala brackets on the front, then bolted what I couldn’t weld...I didn’t go out intending to kill shit with the front either,I was actually terrified to hit with the front,I used the back 90% of the derby...then noticed it gettin pretty damaged back there, then started hitting with the front...I’m not familiar at all with 03s,so that’s why I chose galaxie in the poll...just an opinion

Am much as I love guys building and running old iron fords. You've almost have to go with the 03^ for those rules. Not near enough to get the front bumper setup right with those rules.

Coming from a guy that hates building, driving, and seeing Vics.....
I'd build the Vic for them rules.

I guess my question with the Vic is the suspension. I have a whole 87 vic suspension. Do i put that whole thing in, or just swap a arms and spindles with a 90s vic?
