Well they want to have a compact 106 class and a compact and mid size are way different and they are considering a mid size as a compact and if that's the case then they mite as well not have compacts only mid-size is what they are going on about and about ppl shorting a w body to run with 106 and thats considered cheating so ppl with 4 bangers are saying if they can do that then we can do some cheating to our cars i personally have mixed feelings on it

We used to have two classes but now went to compact class with a wheelbase of 108 an some 110. Alot of good cars can be built that way.

We have a 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder class by us. Doesn’t go by wheelbase for that reason. Nobody really builds the 4 cylinder cars around us, more of a get your feet wet have fun and cheap class. There’s nobody putting 2.3s in cars. Also only some w body guys are actually building them.

We only have compact and full size. Most places here have compact at 108 or less with 6 or less cylinder.. Some are 108 and don't have engine size restrictions for compact
Determining whether a truck is compact or full size is at inspectors discretion.
I have run compact cars against full size cars on 4 separate occasions. Got paid on 3 of those.

We have classes that go by how many cylinders you have and we have shows that go by wheelbase. & Have a few that actually put W-Body wheel base as a full size car only.

My opinion is should 4 should be with 4 6 be with 6 And 8 with 8 None of this bs with 4 cyl with 6 cyl or 6 cyl with 8 cyl they are all way diff cars

I like shows where it is 106 and under run together any greater then that is mid size. Not really worried about the 4 and 6 cylinders cause I don't think engine size matters so much as a hard hitting lumina vs a bunch of Ford escorts for example.Went to a show where they separated by engine and guys just ran 4 cylinders in there luminas.Shows should go on wheelbase in my opinion.

Engine size is 100% irrelevant. Sticking 2.3 in a 114" Vic doesn't make it a compact and running the factory 305 in a 97" Monza doesn't make it a full size. Splitting purely by engine size or worse yet by # of lug nuts is utterly ridiculous.

I run a stock 4.3 in everything anymore, rangers/mini trucks, my fullsize crown vics (including my 03's), and next year a dodge 2500

Since this is all opinion, we can all disagree but nobody is wrong, so I'll throw out another one. Not allowing rear wheel drive cars into com-pact class is equally ridiculous, especially at 108" where W bodies are the overwhelmingly popular choice. Even though I wrote our current area rules, I do have guidelines I have to stay in, some administrative and some by popular demand. For the most part, I like them. Can't have V8's or 8 lug rears, which is a bummer but oh well. I can haul under 3 hours southwest & have both. On the other hand, less than 3 hours southeast into GSA territory, I can't bring a rear wheeler.

Currently we run two classes: 1. Compact - any 105.5" and under 2. Midsize - 116" unibody fwd and 108" rwd/AWD
I don't think there's a right or wrong answer, depends on area, situation and build rules. We expanded to allow bigger fwd midsize to get more cars per local drivers' requests.
