DO NOT double springs for a figure 8 car lmao you want body roll and your weight to transfer in the corners. I'd suggest running coilover in the back but stock shocks are just fine as long as they work well you do NOT want a stiff suspension. You'll be bouncing around and it will be a complete mess. The bumpers fine the way you have it however I choose never to shorten my frames. For a wire class I'm sure you can't shorten the rear trunk from stock much unless you just cut it off lol but 2 notches or dimpled should be fine with even just a tuck. I prefer my rear ends to roll up because I feel like it moves all of that weight farther towards the rear axle and helps a ton with traction with the benefit of not having it sticking out through the x. You can run only rear brakes or all 4 after you run you will decide but DO NOT run only fronts you will just push in the corners when they lock up and it'll throw your whole corner off or run you into the wall and you'll never be able to put the car where you want it. Take some time setting up your cooling system you'll be much harder on the gas than in a derby sometimes for 15 to 20 laps. So keep that in mind. I'd keep the front sway bar also if it's not too rusty on the sway bar links. Oh and by the way I actually run stronghurst and our whole western illinois points series just taking a year or 2 off after the newborn arrived. I run rwd wire class

And there's guys running in the 6.00s around here usually 4.56s I ran 4.88s and liked em but that was in a buddy's car I drove. I usually don't even touch my gears in my cars and run stockish 302s in first gear and have 2.73s in the back lol have gotten a win and many top 5s with my setup but in the last 2 years our wire class has gotten about 10 times faster. It's supposed to be a cheaper option but not when you have guys pushing 500 horse plus and everything else lol

agree on the cooling. You definitely need to run a shroud of some sort. The monte's is plastic and is quite deep where the fan is to make up the rear set back of the engine from the factory. Cut this down so you see the fan by taking out the 1 1/2 ribs of the shroud if you still have it. This will allow things to move and not shred the shroud to crap. Or, run something modified of your choice, but you need a shroud as there isn't any air movement on this type of track and you'll be running a lot of RPMS. Another way is cardboard but it has to be super stiff for all the air pull.
The 73 lacks some weight in the rear as the bumper is tin without the backing.

I think I am going to run a electric fan in the car instead of a manual. IF I run a manual fan I will run a 7 blade fan off one of my mopars. I have some coil over shocks I can run in the rear if it is a good idea.

Ive heard of guys using all-thread for sway bar links. Im guessing so they can adjust em for more/less body roll.

Do the 7 blades mopar fans push more air than a ranger fan?

Do the 7 blades mopar fans push more air than a ranger fan? I don't know about that. I just know they push a ton of air

Make sure all the rear trailing arms and front a arms move freely. Use locker nuts and just go snug, when you lift the arm it should drop back down under its own weight. Buy stockcar springs so you know what you have for spring rates. I raced circle track with a Monte Carlo and I used LF 900 RF 1000 LR 225 RR 200. I would start with 1000s in the front and 225s in the back. I would have working brakes on all corners. I've never run figure 8s like yours, ours are more like derbies with 4 cyls, but as far as tires go you want to consider rotating weight. Skid steers seem like they might be too heavy and will slow acceleration.

Turned out decent for what it is. I'll have to get some more pictures of it up some time soon. Car has a ton of sheet metal damage but ok structure wise. The race I ran in I did ok at best but ripped a tire in the heat which obviously caused issues and then feature did good till I threw a fan belt and got hot.
