Myself was wondering does it need to be on a relay, then switch..or just run it to a switch..not sure how hot the wires would get running it straight..first year running E fans

could you run it straight to the alt? No. I burnt up a brand new fan like that. The fan keep pulling volts so the alternator kept feeding them. I run my electric fans to the battery with an inline fuse so if the fan stops/breaks, it doesn't affect the rest of my electrical system. Just my experience. Maybe it was bad luck or something. But I won't do it that way again.

I put my fuse after the fire wall as close to the switch as possible.

I always ran them straight to battery. Only time there was problem was when pulley got into the back on it was hpoked on my trand cooler fan switch. Now I run nylon fan on my motor an quit wasting a fan every derby to every other derby.

Been running strictly electric near 20 years....right after the first rad that got wasted by a fan. I run it to my main switch with a few inches of fusible link close to the switch (2-3" out).

This is my first time running electric fan to switch. What color wire do I extend to battery and which color is ground? Or how do I go about finding this out. I have a 2002 stratus.

I just ground 1wire to the engine block and run the other side into the car. I have a hot wire from the battery and I just twist the two wires together after I start the car. It's crude but I've done it for years with no problems
