Due to some recent safety concerns, we will also allow a transmission cooler mounted securely inside the passenger compartment. It must be securely mounted and covered. High pressure line must be used and covered also.
Edit***** This post was concerning the mildweld and passenger class, I originally thought I had specified that.

Safety concerns? I always thought a cooler located in the engine bay would keep the driver safer than one mounted next to them - but if it's for safety to keep your high-dollar transmission cooler, I completely understand.

Some of us old dogs used to run an auxiliary transmission cooler mounted right behind the fan, or on top of the intake. Although it may sound crazy it would take some pretty serious damage to get to that. In today's age people want to mount them in the hole of the cowl/firewall area, and while that may be a safe alternative, as I've done it myself, it also exposes the driver and or passenger to very hot liquid even if covered. A driver posed the question of being able to use his current setup, one that mounts inside the car. In the discussion of that, amongst most of the inspection crew, the unfortunate events that led to a driver being badly burned by engine coolant a few weeks ago was discussed. Although it was a freak accident, now that it has happened, it must be thought of, and regarded as a safety concern. Being the first person that I am aware of to recieve 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns from the scalding water of a derby engine it hits very close to home for me personally. It was decided that if any setup is allowed to be used, it should be the drivers choice on what would be safest for them. I do not like changing rules, it's actually a top priority to make them and stick with them, but with the question being asked, the previous experience I've had to live through, and the new safety concern posed from Oak Harbor, I would rather give the drivers that option for themselves, and we made the decision with more than enough time to make the neceasary changes. It is unfortunate that a rule has been altered, but we truly felt it necessary.

I edited my post about the coolers to include that it was for the mild weld/passenger rules only. I thought I had already specified that, so I apologize that I hadn't. If that and my previous post still leaves any questions or concerns, feel free to ask.

An appetite for destruction is more than an awesome album.

Just wanted to say thanks for posting the results. It seems to be too difficult for most people to put a post on here about their demo anymore, let alone post results. So once again, thanks.
