A lot of guys used scrap price to fund their derby habit, at least around here. Personally I’d rather have money than derby cars. Also, most of the cars I buy don’t come from Grandma Edna down the road they come from farmer John who has 2 or 3 other junkers next to it so it works well to buy them all and hope scrap is decent.

I just called the scrap yard where I go in Dekalb IL. $130 a ton for car bodies. Anybody know of a better price in northern IL? Thanks

I've never totally understood why derby guys want scrap prices to go up anyway. Cars cost more, and more of them are crushed before we get to them... O but when you scrap the car that you paid $500 for you'll get $300 back instead of getting $100 back for the car you paid $200 for.... I guess it is better. I GET to derby BECAUSE I'm a junk man. Cars, drivetrains, cage material, other filler material. It really is that simple....for me anyway. If I pay 500 for a car, even if it's an Imp or a Roundback, you can bet it will turn 50k miles down the road before it sees the track. Anywho, 110/ton to the west. To the east, 120 for cars & shred, 130 for prepared

$160 here in NE Ohio when I called to junk a rusty 74 2dr Olds. Now by them time it freezes enough to get it out the back of my brothers place, who knows where it will be.

$150 a ton in Rosebud, MO or $145 a ton in Cadet, MO. Dam I should of sat on mine for a week or so. It doesn't seem to be worth a shit at any of the others. The ones real local to me stay around $100-$120 year round it seems. These two are about a 30-40 minute drive for me, but it is worth it most of the time.
