I know you can swap shafts and i couple others to make a 31 spline 10 bolt but my question is do you have to use the 71-76 full size 8.5 car axle or on you any year bia 8.5 axle, like of of a mid size with a 8.5 bia? thanks

mid size too short and you need a spool to take the 31 spline in a 10 bolt using the 12 bolt axles...

Are you using axles out of a 12 bolt rear or purchasing axles? Reason for asking, if purchasing axles you can go with the 33 spline axles and 33 spline spool to fit in 10 bolt housing.

I've bent plenty of 12 bolts. I've never broke one. I had a 33 spline set-up ( that was supposed to be a 35 spline) built and sold to me from a former promoter. I broke a lot of axles w/ that set-up. Don't waste the money!

I have run Moser's for at least 10 years. We have 5 rear ends that have been fixed with Moser set-up. Only had one axle get bent, none broken. WE run 4 cars every year, at least 2 derby's per year.

Ok im new to this. Are Gm 10 bolts 8.5 the same as bop 8.5. I have a corporate 8.5 housing that's bent. It had 4.56 gears with a posi. I would like to use the posi in the bop housing. I am wondering will the spool fit? Or do I need to modify something?

Yes it will fit. As long it is a 10 bolt & measure ring gear to make sure it is 8.5. Check overall length of housing also. Mid-size is shorter. I am assuming you know also to check for bolt-in axles.

Thank you for the information. Yes,where the axle bolts to the housing it has a step up where the bearings sit inside the axle.
