LIMITED WELD All year/make/model cars permitted within guidelines are to follow these rules with the exceptions at the top, catered to car of your choice.
EXCEPTIONS:
Pre-1976- Rust repair is permitted with these exceptions. You must remove rusted metal and may replace area with same thickness material and may be welded with no more than a 1” overlap.
77 & newer GM-6” x 22” x ¼” arch plate, center of the hump, does not have to follow the contour of the frame.
80 & newer Ford-Front may be tilted at the crush box by cutting three flaps, 8” max length spacer at core support.
80 & newer Mopar-7 leaf pack max, 5 clamps per side, and a 2” stagger. You may change four front sub/k frame bolts, in addition to body mount modification stated below.
ALL JUDGES DECISIONS ARE FINAL Only 50% of your car can be painted black! NO ALL BLACK CARS!!!! 1. ANY Passenger car or station wagon . No trucks, jeeps, hearses, limousines, or Imperials. 2. Sedagons are NOT allowed. 3. All glass, side windows, rear windows, headlights and taillights, must be removed before reaching the track. Rolling down windows is not permitted. 4. Rear seat of sedan must be removed, top and bottom. On station wagons all seats and decking must be removed. Station wagons must be emptied to the floorboards. 5. Cars must have a seatbelt and working brakes. MANDATORY 6. Battery may be moved, but must be securely fastened and covered in passenger compartment. TWO BATTERIES ARE ALLOWED. 7. Front Windshield Bar is MANDATORY and is limited to a 2” wide x 1/4" thick strap or a chain/9 wire loop
GAS TANKS AND FUEL PUMPS 1. Stock gas tank MUST be removed from original position and mounted in the rear seat area and secured. All tanks must have a secure cap. A marine tank or fuel cell is strongly recommended. All lines and fitting must be leak proof and meet approval of the track officials. Electric fuel pumps are allowed 2. All lines must be run inside car, not along the frame underneath.
RADIATOR AND CORE SUPPORT 1. Radiator must be in stock position 2. Any automotive type radiator can be used. Aluminum Radiators are LEGAL. 3. No homemade radiators allowed 4. No reserve tanks and no added cooling capacity. 5. One electric fan, mounted to the radiator, may be used. 6. DO NOT MOVE CORE SUPORT 7. Factory condenser or 24" wide by 1/4" thick mesh radiator protector
BODY 1. No body seams may be welded. 2. No doubling of body panels allowed, no added metal allowed. 3. BODY CREASING IS LIMITED TO REAR QUARTER PANELS AND TRUNK ONLY 4. Fenders may be bolted together. Max of 10- 3/8” BOLTS ABOVE THE FENDER WELL. 5. Doors may be chained, wired, or welded. Welding of the doors and trunk is the only welding allowed on the car body. When welding doors 6in on 6in off all the way around 6. May change 4 rear body mounts with up to 1” all thread/bolt and may pass through the trunk/roof. May change front two, up to 1” max, and may pass through the core support. You may add two extra body bolts anywhere or change two existing bolts and may pass through the trunk/roof/hood. Extra mounts can be bolted through the frame or welded to the side of frame with a single pass of weld. 7. No creasing, welding, doubling of transmission tunnel… if you touch it you will cut it out
SUSPENSION 1. Front suspension can be solid or you may use spring spacers for height. If solid, you may only use two 2”x 2” x ¼” plates (one on front and rear of a-frame) and may be plug welded in the center (no added metal). Any metal added beyond that, suspension will be modified to working suspension. 2. Tie rods must have factory appearing ends, No heims! You may brace the center tube with angle or pipe. Aftermarket is fine but must have a factory type end! 3. Front or rear suspension is not required to bounce. 4. Factory spindle swaps are ok, ford to chevy etc. GM factory lift spindles are ok (No fabricated spindles) 5 You may Replacement ball joints, screw in or aftermarket are ok
HOODS MUST BE OPEN AT INSPECTION! 1. Hoods must have two (2) holes, at least four (4) inches in diameter on each side of the carburetor. Not directly on top of the carburetor. If the hood is removed, either the fan or fan belt must be removed. 2. Hoods may be secured by 2 pieces of all thread outboard the radiator. Cannot be sleeved. * Meaning spacer/square tube stops at bottom side of core support* 3. You are allowed 10 pieces of double stranded #9 wire across the front of car from bumper to hood/core support 4. You may replace your front core support bolts with up to 1" allthread, and it can extend through the hood. This may not be sleeved with pipe or tube. 5. Hoods can be held shut with “one” of the following options, A (8) LOCATIONS 2” long pieces of 2” x 2” angle with a single 3/8” bolt thru them B (8) pieces of # 9 wire attaching hood to fender. C. (8) Locations ¾” diameter max bolts going through hood into inner fender with 2”x2” max washer
TRUNKS 1. You are allowed 10 pieces of double stranded #9 wire from bumper to bottom of trunk lip. 2. You can weld trunks 6 on 6 off like the doors with max 4” wide by ¼ thick 3. You may remove the 4 most rear body mounts and replace with 1” allthread. You may add 2 locations/ body mounts, these 2 can be welded to side of frame or blow a hole and run it through it. Only 4 pieces of all thread can extend through the trunk. The other 2 must remain inside trunk or factory configuration your choice. 4. You may crease the trunk and quarter panels. 5. Washers may be no larger than 4 inches in diameter. No sleeving/ pipe spacers on the all thread and no nuts directly under the trunk lid
SAFTEY CAGES 1. All cars must have a safety cage and roll over bar. 2. A 4-point cage is required and limited to 4 points only. Your cage will must have a dash bar that must be 4” from the firewall. Your cage must have a bar behind the driver’s seat no more than 6” away from it. You must have (2) side bars and they must not be farther than the rear wheel humps and must not extend past your dash bar. The side bars must not be welded to the rear humps. 3. Roll over bar cannot be more than 6” behind driver’s seat. Roll over bar can NOT attach to frame. Weld or Bolt it to sheet metal only. A 6” x 6” plate may be used in aiding it to be attached to floor sheet metal. Roll over bar can be bolted to roof 4. The cage can be welded to sheet metal only. You can have up to four (4) down posts, two (2) per side. You must have a dash bar, a cross bar behind the seat and two (2) door cross bars. Nothing can be ran between the rear wheel humps or welded to the humps. No kickers to the frame humps- front or back. 5. Cage can be made out of 4” pipe , 4” square tubing, or 6”x2” box tube MAX. 6. All down tubes must be at or behind the dash bar, straight up and down. Welded to sheet metal only. 7. Gas tank protectors are NOT allowed, floating your gas tank off the floor is NOT considered a gas tank protector. MUST BE A 4" GAP BETWEEN GAS TANK MOUNT AND PACKAGE TRAY *see image #?
FRAMES 1. No welding, plating, or reinforcing of the frame. 2. All factory frame holes must be left open. 3. Any reinforcing of frame found will result in disqualification. 4. Sub frame cars cannot be tied together. If you want to run a full frame car, buy a full frame car, don’t build one. 5. CORE SUPPORT AND CORE SUPPORT MOUNT MUST REMAIN IN FACTORY LOCATION. 6. aftermarket steering columns are ok 7. Rear frame rails may not be shortened. 8. You may chain or wire your axle to the frame hump. (2 CHAIN LINKS WELDED TO FRAME MAX) *NO OPENING CHAIN LINKS TO GAIN LENGTH*
BUMPERS 1. Bumpers maybe loaded. Everything inside factory envelope of the bumper. 2. Bumpers may be hardnosed or weld a factory shock to frame and bumper, If you slid the brackets back on the frame No welding on frame beyond the furthest factory attachment point on the frame. (not the furthest point on the bracket/shock) *NO WELDING Further than 6” BACK FROM BUMPERS* If you have questions about this please call! 3. YOU MAY BOLT A CHAIN FROM BUMPER TO BUMPER SHOCK on THE FRAME 3/8 MAX or weld a piece of strap (2"x 1/4") from frame to bumper 1" overlap on each end. This is to aid in keeping bumpers off the track 4. Bumpers can be no higher than 26" from the ground to the top of the bumper or lower than 14" from the ground to the bottom of the bumper.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION 1. Any engine or transmission may be used in any car, but must be mounted within 6” of the original motor. Engine cannot protrude into the passenger compartment before the race. 2. ENGINE CRADLES ALLOWED (front plate and lower cradle) 3. No Mid Plates, No Halos behind carburetor, No Distributor Protectors 4. Aftermarket Motor Mounts are legal for 2017 5. Transmission oil coolers and engine oil coolers are permitted. They must be secure and contained and covered inside the car, for the driver’s protection. 6. Pulley protectors are allowed, but sway bar must be removed or not able to touch before or after race!!
8. Factory aluminum engine cradles in 2003 and newer cars may NOT be changed. No homemade cradles. 9. HOMEMADE Gas Pedals and Shifters Are Allowed, but may not reinforce the car in anyway. 11. OEM crossmember or 2x2 square tube. 12. Transmission modifications -Steel bells, steel tails, and braces are aloud. No part of the brace may be below the center of tail shaft and no skid plate connecting the tail shaft to the bell.
REAR END 1. Any automotive or aftermarket rear end 2. Slider drive shaft is permitted. 3. You may have five (5) spring clamps per spring. Maximum 1" wide 1/4 thick 4. ZTR style brackets are legal, but must use factory trailing arms to mount rear end. If bolted through package trey, sheet metal must be cut around washer. (so it isn’t adding a body mount) 5. If you shorten the trailing arms. Minimum overlap and weld. No doubling or reinforced trailing arms.
TIRES 1. Any Tires black and round 2. No wheel modifications on the outside of the wheel. When viewing from the stands it must appear as a stock wheel. All mods must be on the break drum or axle side of the rim. I.E beadlocks or weld in centers
Official decision before, during and after is final. NO REFUNDS!
If you are found to be over built for these rules, you will be given 2 options. A. CUT OR REMOVE ILLEGAL PARTS. B. LOAD ON TRAILER AND GO HOME.

TRUCK 1. Any American made pick up, suburban and blazer type vehicles permitted. 2. Factory fuel tanks can be used is inside the frame rails and safe. 3. You may run engine of choice. No distributor protector 4. Fuel tanks must be located in the bed of the trucks in the in the center of the bed directly behind cab. No stock fuel tanks permitted. Fuel cells must be securely fastened and covered. 5. Battery may be moved to front floor of cab. Battery must be securely fastened to floor and covered. 6. All trucks must have seat belts. 7. Doors must be secured by wire, chain, or welded. If welded must use a 5 on 5 off pattern 8. Tail gates may be bolted shut in 8 spots or wired or chained. 9. Box and cab mounts may be replaced with up to 1” bolts body mounts may be removed. The body bolts may go all the way through the fame and floor of truck. 10. No trailer hitches or reinforcements of frame or body of any kind permitted. May use car bumpers for mounting of car bumpers you may use factory bumper shocks and brackets no welding past the 6" mark on the frame. 11. Hoods must be in place and operable must have a 12” X 12” hole cut in hood over carburetor 12. Hoods may be wired or bolted shut in 8 places 1" max bolt size and have unlimited wire from hood to bumper 13. No 4 wheel drives permitted 4 wheel drives must have front drive shaft removed. 14. Tires MUST be D.O.T. TIRE sizes for trucks no split rims. NO TRACTOR TREADS, IMPLIMENT TIRES OR OTHER OFF ROAD TIRES WIL BE PERMITTED 15. Beds must be welded to cab of trucks with a 3” strap I'ma 5 on 5 off ppattern directly behind doors. 16. Unlimited double strands of wire permitted from tailgate to bumper 17. Suspension must BOUNCE factory suspension, may run spring risers 18. A 4 point cage is highly recommended in drivers compartment for drivers safety. The cage in the cab may have 4 down legs from front and rear bar straight down to the body only. Also a gas tank protector is highly recommended. Protector may attach to frame but may not extend further than 24” from the front of the bed. 19. Trucks must set level no pulling down rear of the truck. No smashing of the bed sides will be permitted. You must use factory springs for make and model of truck. NOrules

Washers may be no larger than 4 inches in diameter. No sleeving the all thread and no nuts directly under the trunk lid. 3. 5. Trunk can be held shut with “one” of the following but not both, A (8 spots) 2” long pieces of 2” x 2” angle with a single 3/8” bolt thru them B (8) pieces of # 9 wire attaching trunk to quarter.
4. The trunk lid must remain on hinges. 5. The trunk lid may be v’d in the center, BUT QUARTER PANELS MUST REMAIN STAINDING. (THIS IS TO GAIN VISION NOT BUILDING A TRUNK)

They must be secure and contained and covered inside the car, for the driver’s protection. 6. Pulley protectors are allowed, but sway bar must be removed or not able to touch before or after race!! 7. No Skid plates. 8. No Distributor protectors. 9.HOMEMADE Gas Pedals and Shifters Are Allowed 10. OEM crossmember or 2x2 square tube. Factory style rubber mount 12. No Driveline pressure
REAR END
1. Any automotive or aftermarket rear end 2. On models originally equipped with leaf springs, stock leaf springs and hangers MUST be used. 3. Leaf packs on all cars MUST be OEM stock. 4. Slider drive shaft is permitted. 5. You may have five (5) spring clamps per spring 6. If you shorten the trailing arms. Minimum overlap and weld. No doubling or reinforced trailing arms.
TIRES 1. Any Tires 15 inches or smaller. 2. No solid wheels stock OEM only. YOU MAY WELD IN WHEEL CENTERS for multi lug use (not full plates to add strength!).
The only welding allowed will be the bumper, the cage, doors, motor mounts, angle on the hood and trunk.
These are all outlined above. If it doesn’t say you can do it, don’t assume that you can.

2017 LAWN MOWER DERBY RULES & REGULATIONS
STOCK MOWERS
• All drivers must wear a helmet, long pants and eye protection. • Mower must be a factory available mower to include a factory frame. No home-made frames will be permitted. • No rear engine mowers permitted. • No pull start mowers permitted. • All mowers must have factory mower engine. (Maximum of 19 HP, belt driven and air cooled.) • Leg guards are mandatory!!! Guards must be bolted and/or welded from the rear fender to front of foot rest or frame. (No sharp edges.) • No rear or font bumpers permitted. • Reinforcing of the frame is permitted. • The front of the frame (under the grill) may be reinforced for hitting. (No sharp edges.) • Transaxles must be factory available mower transaxles. Reinforcing and/or welding of spider gears will be permitted. • Reinforcing of around the engine is permitted, but must be contained inside of the hood. Also, must maintain factory body lines. • Mower must have a factory hood and fenders. The hood is to be either screwed or welded down. (If hood is fiberglass you are permitted to make one out of sheet metal only, but must be the same size as the fiber glass hood.) • Re-gearing and/or changing of pulleys to increase speed is permitted. • Drive train modifications are permitted, but mower must stay belt driven. (Engine pulleys cannot be bigger than 4” and the pulleys on the rear end cannot be smaller than 3”.) • Mowers must use lawn mower type wheels. No dual wheels or tire chains permitted. Tractor tread and cut tires are permitted, but must be lawn mower type. • No wheel weights are permitted. • Mowers must resemble a factory mower, no other modifications will be permitted other than what is stated in these rules. • Mower brakes must be operational and have forward/reverse gears at the start of the heat. • Gas tanks must be secured, in a safe location and have gas cap. (If it comes loose or any gas leakage will result in the driver being disqualified.) • Mower can only contain a maximum of ½ gallon of fuel. • Mower decks must be removed. • All headlights, glass and/or plastics must be removed before entering the pit area. • Batteries must be removed from the mower and can only be used to jump start the mower before the start of the heat. • If a driver rolls over during the heat, the driver is disqualified. In the event of a roll over, Officials are permitted to stop the heat to set the mower back up. • If a driver touches the ground with hand, foot or any other part of their body during the heat, the driver is disqualified. • For the safety of all drivers, no rear end hitting permitted. (Failure to comply can result in disqualification.) • Mower must have a kill switch. • Mower must have a visible number on both sides of the mower. • A driver’s meeting to review the rules will be held prior to the start of the heat. • Any deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the Officials. Their decision is final.
MODIFIED MOWERS

(No sharp edges.) • No front bumpers, but the front of the frame (under the grill) may be reinforced for hitting. (No sharp edges.) • Rear bumper is permitted, but not mandatory. However, bumper cannot extend more than 4” out and must stay in between the tires. (No sharp edges.) • All frame modification and frame reinforcing is permitted. • Transaxles must be factory available mower transaxles. Reinforcing and/or welding of spider gears will be permitted. • Reinforcing of around the engine is permitted, but must be contained inside of the hood. Also, must maintain factory body lines. • Mowers must have a factory hood and fenders. The hood is to be either screwed or welded down. (If hood is fiberglass you are permitted to make one out of sheet metal only, but must be the same size as the fiber glass hood.) • Re-gearing and/or changing of pulleys to increase speed is permitted. • Drive train modifications are permitted, but mower must stay belt driven. • Mowers must use lawn mower type wheels. No dual wheels or tire chains permitted. Tractor tread and cut tires are permitted, but must be lawn mower type. • No wheel weights are permitted. • Mower decks must be removed. • Mower brakes must be operational and have forward/reverse gears at the start of the heat. • Gas tanks must be secured, in a safe location and have gas cap. (If it comes loose or any gas leaks will result in the driver being disqualified.) • All headlights, glass and/or plastics must be removed before entering the pit area. • Batteries must be removed from the mower and can only be used to jump start the mower before the start of the heat. • Mower must have a kill switch. • Mower must have a visible number on both sides of the mower. • If a driver rolls over during the heat, the driver is disqualified. In the event of a roll over, Officials are permitted to stop the heat to set the mower back up. • If a driver touches the ground with hand, foot or any other part of their body during the heat, the driver is disqualified. • For the safety of all drivers, no rear end hitting permitted. (Failure to comply can result in disqualification.) • A driver’s meeting to review the rules will be held prior to the start of the heat. • Any deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the Officials. Thanks for the feed back we actually sat down and went through the rules as a Crew as of now those are a legal spindle for this show at this time as for there cast and a store bought spindle not home made, ill note ur opinion and use it for future improvement thanks .
