April 15th The South Bend Motor Speedway will be hosting are first NIGHT OF DESTRUCTION. You will be running in front of a sold out crowd and standing room only at every night of destruction.

Car
Any 1980 or newer full size sedan or wagon.
Car must have contrasting colors for the number and car color.
Car must have a minimum of a 12x12 roof sign with number. No sedagons
Prep
Car must be completely stripped of ALL glass, debris, and burnable material before entering the pits.
A minimum of a 12 inch hole must be cut in the hood in case of a fire.
An inspection hole must be cut in the trunk if it is unable to be opened at time of inspection.
Body
Factory body panels only not plating or doubling sheet metal and no welding of body seams.
Body creasing will be allowed
You may tuck the trunk at a 90 degree angle into the trunk, or remove it.
No welding solid
Door seems maybe chained, wired, or welded solid with a max of 3 inch wide strapping.
Hood may be fastened down in 6 spots. 2 strands #9 wire.
Trunk may have 4 spots. 2 strands # wire.
No wire at all to the frame or bumper when fastening down the hood or trunk.
All body mounts must remain stock and in stock position
If tilting you may use round or square tubing as spacers (2 ½ x 2 ½ max 10 inch tall) for the core support and can not be welded (Free floating). Must sit on top of the stock body mount and be untouched, no welding or relocating.
May use (1 inch max) all thread to tie down the core support and may be used as spots to secure the hood as well. This will be part of your 6 spots.
Cage
You may have 4 down bars that can be welded to sheet metal OR frame not both. If welded to the frame it cannot be welded down in such a way to strengthen the frame at all. We understand that fords come with gussets at the crush box, the front down bars may be welded in the corner of the siderail and the back side of the crush box, DO NOT weld the down bars on top of the crush box. 3”x3” max tubing size ¼ inch wall (official discretion)
Rear down bars cannot be any further back than the back of the front seats.
Gas tank protectors will be allowed but may not touch rear seat sheet metal, 6” between sheet metal and tank protector.
Halo bar is allowed and recommended and can be mounted to the roof in 2 spots.
Cage bars must be inside the car, no bars protruding outside the sheet metal and must not be inside the doors.
Windshield must have a chain, wire (2-3 strands), or old leaf spring etc. to prevent hood from coming inside the car. Cannot be attached or touching the cage in anyway including the halo bar or attached or touching any type of protector.
Frame
Frame seams may be welded from the front of the a arm forward. Single pass only ½ to ¾ wide. If wider you will be asked to cut it or load it. No other frame seams are to be welded this will more than likely get you loaded if your do.
No plating or frame shaping anywhere on the frame.
You may notch or dimple the rear frame rails in 2 spots on each side of the rear rails.
If tilting the fallowing will be allowed – you can cut the “flap” tilt and reweld. No welding of the crush box seams.
On GM cars only you may plate the rear humps in the fallowing way. Highlighted area is where the plate can go. ¼ max thick plate on the outside of the frame only. Over excessive plated will be cut. (Officials discretion)
Frame shortening will be allowed can not go any further back then the back of the shock hole on the side of the frame.
Hard nosing is ok as long as no bumper shock is used, you may use the bumper shock from that year and make only and not shorten the frame, no interchanging make and models of bumper shock (GM on a Ford etc.) 03 and up fords must use the stock factory aluminum cradle and front suspension.
Bumpers
Any stock automotive type bumper only, no homemade bumpers
You may weld the outer bumper skin to the bumper
Ends must be cut of smooth as to not us to puncture tires.
You may stuff the bumper within reason
Bumper shocks may be LIGHTLY welded to the frame along with the shock tubes as to not pull out of the shock.
Bumpers may be welded or bolted to the bumper shock plate. Again nothing over kill. Official’s discretions on all welding.
You may run in 3 spots #9 wire from bumper to core support to protect the radiator.
Max bumper height will be 25 inches to the bottom of the bumper.
Drive line
Any naturally aspirated v6, or v8 engine allowed (NO ALCHOHOL, gas only so we can see a fire, for your safety)
You may use engine cradle, pulley protectors, distributor protectors etc. If you using distributor protector it may touch the fire wall but can not be connected the cage.
Extreme protectors ok but must not have a fan shroud protector, if you do cut it off or unbolt it.
Motor mounts may be welded down
You may replace the stock tranny cross member with something of similar nature and may be welded in but again not to strengthen to car.
Slider drive shafts will be permitted.
You may swap rear ends ( 8.8, ford 9”, 10 bolt GM etc. max 8 lug) rear end bracing ok.
Must stay a 4 link and have coil springs, NO LEAFING
Spring spacers may be used (knuckle busters) to gain bumper height. No homemade spacers.
You may wire, or hose clamp the springs in to keep them from falling out.
98 and newer may BOLT in the package tray from an 80’s box ford in the fallowing way. 3 one inch all thread and bolts to hold it in. No more than 3 and no bigger than 1 inch, no welding to hold the package tray in. You may swap a arms for the 80’s style ford a arms 90-02 if running these years.
All front suspension must be stock, no aftermarket ball joints, tie rods, spindles etc.. The only thing you can do is change to the 80’s style a arms. Pinion brake ok.
Tires
Anything round and holds air. No solid or foam filled tires.
Doubling and tubing tires ok
Valve stem protectors ok
Weld in wheel centers ok
No bead locks
Miscellaneous
Cars must have some kind of suspension bounce by bouncing the front and rear of the car
Cable shifter, cable gas pedals, after market steering columns, brake pedals, and tranny cooler boxes ok.
Nothing obscene and no profanity on the cars
There will be a postrace inspection in every class
You will have 30 seconds to make a competitive hit and 60 second to get unstuck or restart your car

APPEARANCE
Rule 1: NO all black cars except the last shows feature winner. All cars must have contrasting letters and numbers, also must have at least a 12”x12” roof sign. This is how you will be paid! If there is paint anywhere on the frame/sub frame of suspension you WILL NOT be tech’d and loaded.
CAR
1. ANY 4 CYLINDER MINI CAR (REAR OR FRONT WHEEL DRIVE) OR ANY 6 CYLINDER MINI CAR (FRONT WHEEL DRIVE ONLY). MUST BE A FRONT ENGINE, FULL BODY PASSENGER CAR OR STATION WAGON (AMC’s WILL BE ALLOWED). CAR MUST HAVE COME FROM THE FACTORY WITH A 4 OR 6 CYLINDER ENGINE TO BE LEGAL.
BODY
1. ALL GLASS MUST BE COMPLETELY REMOVED FROM AUTOMOBILE BEFORE GETTING TO THE TRACK. THIS INCLUDES MIRRORS, TAIL AND HEADLIGHTS, WINDSHIELD, ALL DOOR GLASS (SIMPLY ROLLING DOOR GLASS DOWN IS NOT PERMITTED) AND ANY BROKEN GLASS INSIDE AUTOMOBILE. YOU MUST HAVE WORKING SEAT BELT AND HELMET. NO ROPE, WIRE ETC. CARPET AND BACK SEAT MUST BE REMOVED.
2. ALL REAR AND FRONT PLASTIC OR FIBERGLASS MUST BE COMPLETELY REMOVED. INCLUDES FIBERGLASS HEADER PANEL, 1⁄4 PANEL EXTENSIONS, CHROME MOLDINGS, ANTENA, WINDSHIELD WIPER ARMS, SUN VISORS AND ANY OTHER DANGEROUS LOOSE OBJECTS. STOCK BUMPER COVERS CAN REMAIN ON CAR AND ONLY TO COVER THE STOCK BUMPER, IF SO DESIRED.
3. CARS MUST BE CLEAN OF ALL DEBRIS. IF EQUIPPED, ALL STEERING AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS ARE TO BE REMOVED. IF ONE GOES OFF IN ANY EVENT YOU WILL BE DOCKED $50 AT THE PAY OUT WINDOW.
4. HOOD AND TRUNK LID MUST HAVE INSPECTION HOLE AT LEAST 12’’ ROUND. WIRE HOOD AND TRUNK IN 4 SPOTS EACH.
5: All doors must be securely fastened by chain, wire, steel banding, bolted or welded on exterior vertical seams only. NO WELDING ON THE ROCKERS No welding of window frames but may 9 wire. Driver’s door only may be reinforced on outside but no more than 8 inches on either side of door seams and not more than 12 inches wide.
6. NO METAL, SUCH AS ANGLE IRON, FLAT IRON, ETC MAY BE ADDED TO THE BODY PARTS SUCH AS IN THE HOOD, DOORS, FENDERS OR ANY SHEET METAL PARTS AND NO EXPAND FOAM ANYWHERE!
DRIVER’S COMPARTMENT
2: Stock gas tanks must be removed and be safely mounted inside the car in the backseat area.
3. AT LEAST ONE (1) MANDATORY CHAIN, CABLE OR BAR MUST BE INSTALLEDVERTICALLY BETWEEN ROOF AND COWL (MIDDLE OF WINDSHIELD) TO PREVENT HOOD FROM ENTERING DRIVER’S COMPARTMENT.
4. 4 point square cage only, 3 inch max tube size, 4 down legs to the floor sheet metal only, nothing to the frame, everything must be either vertical or horizontal, nothing angled to form a kicker, rear down legs to be mounted at the back of a stock located seat, rollover bar inside or outside roof is allowed, gas tank can be mounted off seat bar and must be at least 6 inches away from any sheet metal, officials have the final say on the safety and construction of this cage.
FRAME
1. ABSOLUTELY NO WELDING ON THE FRAME! SAFETY CHAINS (4 MAX) OR #9 WIRE (4 PIECES) FOR BUMPERS ONLY WILL BE ALLOWED.
2. No stuffed bumpers allowed. To mount bumper you must not weld bumper shocks on side of the crush boxes/frame. You can weld pumper shocks.
3. BUMPER FOR YOUR MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OR MAY BE CHANGED TO A STOCK AUTOMOTIVE BUMPER, NO ADDED STEEL AND BUMPERS MAY BE WELDED ON. NO FABRICATED/HOMEMADE BUMPERS.
4. AUTO MUST HAVE FREE SUSPENSION MOVEMENT UP AND DOWN. STOCK FRAME HEGHT FRONT TO REAR MUST BE MAINTAINED.
5. Nothing may be put in the frame other than bumper shocks. no adding any steel to do so
ENGINE
1. ENGINES MAY BE CHAINED IN. MOTOR MOUNTS MAY BE WELDED.
2. ENGINES MAY BE REPLACED, BUT MUST BE SAME SIZE AS WHAT YOU ARE REPLACING. ORIGINAL STOCK MOTOR MOUNTS, IF YOU ARE CLAIMING A 4 CYL. MOTOR CAME IN YOUR SPECIFIC CAR AND IS STOCK, YOU BETTER BE ABLE TO PROVE IT. IF YOU CAN’T, YOU WILL BE LOADED.
3. THE COMPLETE COOLING SYSTEM MUST REMAIN IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OR BE REMOVED.
TIRES
1. MAXIMUM 16’’ TIRES, 10-PLY, LT OR TIRES WITH 7.00 NUMBERS ON THEM ARE OK. DOUBLE TIRES
ARE OKAY, TUBES ARE OKAY FENDER WELLS MAY BE CUT FOR TIRE CLEARANCE.
INSPECTION PROCEDURES
1. Official’s decisions are final.
2. You will be given one (1) opportunity to correct items on your car.
3.IF YOU GO TO TECH MORE THAN ONCE AND NEW STUFF IS FOUND YOU WILL STILL HAVE TO FIX IT. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.
4. Cars will be impounded after inspection and staged in a secure location.
5. You must be completely ready to wire the hood down during inspection and then put the car in the staging area.
6. No further work will be allowed and cars will not be allowed to return to their trailers. UNLESS APPROVED BEFORE STARTING THE WORK. STILL SUBJECT TO BEING RETECHED
7. Do not come to the inspection line if you are not done preparing your car.
8. Any added or welded metal plate/rod or material not specifically covered in the rules, will be removed completely as well as the surrounding metal. Don’t do it or your car will be weakened!
PRE-FEATURE/PRE-CONSOLATION CAR
PREPARATION
1. You may use unlimited wire for consi or feature if and only if you ran a heat race. Otherwise, the posted rules above apply.
2. Leaf spring cars may NOT replace leaf springs prior to either the consi or the feature.
3. You may wire them or tape leaf springs, but may not replace them.
4. No replacing of sheet metal components prior to the consi or the feature.
5. After the heats, consi cars will be re inspected. Feature cars will be impounded.
6. You may sedagon your vehicle after your heat, wire only, visibility for inspection must be maintained.
7. Feature cars must be re-inspected IMMEDIATELY and then impounded again. No further repairs will be allowed after this point.
Do NOT call, we want all questions and answers in writing please.

Body

2: Cars must be swept clean of all trash and debris
3: No plating of body panels allowed.
4: Doors, trunk, tailgate (wagons) can be welded solid. max of 3" wide by 1/4" think plate on all seams.
5: Body creasing and wedging will be allowed
6: Threaded rod can be used in 6 spots to hold hood closed (1 inch MAX)
7: Rear window bars ok. must not be any farther back than center of the trunk.
Drivetrain
1: Any engine (4 or 6 cylinder) will be allowed. Carb conversions will be allowed along with any type of engine/carb protector
2: You may leaf a coil spring car
Drivers Compartment
1: Must have a min of a 4 point cage
2: Front kickers are allowed to the back side of front suspension
3: Rear kickers are allowed to the front side of rear wheels
4: Gas tank protectors are allowed and can touch sheet metal
5: Aftermarket pedals, shifters and steering columns are allowed
Bumpers

2. ALL REAR AND FRONT PLASTIC OR FIBERGLASS MUST BE COMPLETELY REMOVED. INCLUDES FIBERGLASS HEADER PANEL, 1⁄4 PANEL EXTENSIONS, CHROME MOLDINGS, ANTENA, WINDSHIELD WIPER ARMS, SUN VISORS AND ANY OTHER DANGEROUS LOOSE OBJECTS. STOCK BUMPER COVERS CAN REMAIN ON CAR AND ONLY TO COVER THE STOCK BUMPER, IF SO DESIRED.
3. CARS MUST BE CLEAN OF ALL DEBRIS. IF EQUIPPED, ALL STEERING AND PASSENGER AIR BAGS ARE TO BE REMOVED. IF ONE GOES OFF IN ANY EVENT YOU WILL BE DOCKED $50 AT THE PAY OUT WINDOW.
4. HOOD AND TRUNK LID MUST HAVE INSPECTION HOLE AT LEAST 12’’ ROUND. WIRE HOOD AND TRUNK IN 4 SPOTS EACH.
5: All doors must be securely fastened by chain, wire, steel banding, bolted or welded on exterior vertical seams only. NO WELDING ON THE ROCKERS No welding of window frames but may 9 wire. Driver’s door only may be reinforced on outside but no more than 8 inches on either side of door seams and not more than 12 inches wide.
6. NO METAL, SUCH AS ANGLE IRON, FLAT IRON, ETC MAY BE ADDED TO THE BODY PARTS SUCH AS IN THE HOOD, DOORS, FENDERS OR ANY SHEET METAL PARTS AND NO EXPAND FOAM ANYWHERE!
DRIVER’S COMPARTMENT
2: Stock gas tanks must be removed and be safely mounted inside the car in the backseat area.
3. AT LEAST ONE (1) MANDATORY CHAIN, CABLE OR BAR MUST BE INSTALLEDVERTICALLY BETWEEN ROOF AND COWL (MIDDLE OF WINDSHIELD) TO PREVENT HOOD FROM ENTERING DRIVER’S COMPARTMENT.
4. 4 point square cage only, 3 inch max tube size, 4 down legs to the floor sheet metal only, nothing to the frame, everything must be either vertical or horizontal, nothing angled to form a kicker, rear down legs to be mounted at the back of a stock located seat, rollover bar inside or outside roof is allowed, gas tank can be mounted off seat bar and must be at least 6 inches away from any sheet metal, officials have the final say on the safety and construction of this cage.
FRAME
1. ABSOLUTELY NO WELDING ON THE FRAME! SAFETY CHAINS (4 MAX) OR #9 WIRE (4 PIECES) FOR BUMPERS ONLY WILL BE ALLOWED.
2. No stuffed bumpers allowed. To mount bumper you must not weld bumper shocks on side of the crush boxes/frame. You can weld pumper shocks.
3. BUMPER FOR YOUR MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR OR MAY BE CHANGED TO A STOCK AUTOMOTIVE BUMPER, NO ADDED STEEL AND BUMPERS MAY BE WELDED ON. NO FABRICATED/HOMEMADE BUMPERS.
4. AUTO MUST HAVE FREE SUSPENSION MOVEMENT UP AND DOWN. STOCK FRAME HEGHT FRONT TO REAR MUST BE MAINTAINED.
5. Nothing may be put in the frame other than bumper shocks. no adding any steel to do so
ENGINE
1. ENGINES MAY BE CHAINED IN. MOTOR MOUNTS MAY BE WELDED.
2. ENGINES MAY BE REPLACED, BUT MUST BE SAME SIZE AS WHAT YOU ARE REPLACING. ORIGINAL STOCK MOTOR MOUNTS, IF YOU ARE CLAIMING A 4 CYL. MOTOR CAME IN YOUR SPECIFIC CAR AND IS STOCK, YOU BETTER BE ABLE TO PROVE IT. IF YOU CAN’T, YOU WILL BE LOADED.
3. THE COMPLETE COOLING SYSTEM MUST REMAIN IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OR BE REMOVED.
TIRES
1. MAXIMUM 16’’ TIRES, 10-PLY, LT OR TIRES WITH 7.00 NUMBERS ON THEM ARE OK. DOUBLE TIRES
ARE OKAY, TUBES ARE OKAY FENDER WELLS MAY BE CUT FOR TIRE CLEARANCE.
INSPECTION PROCEDURES
1. Official’s decisions are final.
2. You will be given one (1) opportunity to correct items on your car.
3.IF YOU GO TO TECH MORE THAN ONCE AND NEW STUFF IS FOUND YOU WILL STILL HAVE TO FIX IT. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.
4. Cars will be impounded after inspection and staged in a secure location.
5. You must be completely ready to wire the hood down during inspection and then put the car in the staging area.
6. No further work will be allowed and cars will not be allowed to return to their trailers. UNLESS APPROVED BEFORE STARTING THE WORK. STILL SUBJECT TO BEING RETECHED
7. Do not come to the inspection line if you are not done preparing your car.
8. Any added or welded metal plate/rod or material not specifically covered in the rules, will be removed completely as well as the surrounding metal. Don’t do it or your car will be weakened!
PRE-FEATURE/PRE-CONSOLATION CAR
PREPARATION
1. You may use unlimited wire for consi or feature if and only if you ran a heat race. Otherwise, the posted rules above apply.
2. Leaf spring cars may NOT replace leaf springs prior to either the consi or the feature.
3. You may wire them or tape leaf springs, but may not replace them.
4. No replacing of sheet metal components prior to the consi or the feature.
5. After the heats, consi cars will be re inspected. Feature cars will be impounded.
6. You may sedagon your vehicle after your heat, wire only, visibility for inspection must be maintained.
7. Feature cars must be re-inspected IMMEDIATELY and then impounded again. No further repairs will be allowed after this point.

Appearance
1: All vehicles must have contrasting number/letters and at least a 12”x12” roof sign
2. no vulger words or sayings.
3. all air bags must be removed
Car Type
1: Any year sedan or wagon is permitted, 111 inch wheelbase max. no 5ft cars. Front or rear wheel drive cars allowed.
2. no 8 cyclnder motors.
Body
1: All glass, plastic, mirrors etc. must be removed before coming on the property.
2: Cars must be swept clean of all trash and debris
3: No plating of body panels allowed.
4: Doors, trunk, tailgate (wagons) can be welded solid. max of 3" wide by 1/4" think plate on all seams.
5: Body creasing and wedging will be allowed
6: Threaded rod can be used in 6 spots to hold hood closed (1 inch MAX)
7: Rear window bars ok. must not be any farther back than center of the trunk.
Drivetrain
1: Any engine (4 or 6 cylinder) will be allowed. Carb conversions will be allowed along with any type of engine/carb protector
2: You may leaf a coil spring car
Drivers Compartment
1: Must have a min of a 4 point cage
2: Front kickers are allowed to the back side of front suspension
3: Rear kickers are allowed to the front side of rear wheels
4: Gas tank protectors are allowed and can touch sheet metal
5: Aftermarket pedals, shifters and steering columns are allowed
Bumpers
1: Stock automotive type bumpers only! can be stuffed.
2. no sharp points or edges.
Tires
Rule 1: Any tire will be allowed, bead locks ok
