FOR THE SEMI-STOCK 80 AND NEWER CLASS I ADDED THE FOLLOWING TO THE RULES UNDER SECTION C FRAMES.....
If running a used car at this derby, you are allowed 4 patch plates. No plate larger than 4”x4”x1/4”, must be painted a fluorescent color. So it is easily noticed for the inspectors. AFTER INSPECTION OR HEATS NO WELDING THESE PLATES ON. IF ADDITIONAL PLATES ARE FOUND AFTER INSPECTION – NO MONEY WILL PAID OUT
THANKS, RANDY

Under frames rule #3 in mod. Class, even if you run a factory leaf sprung car/wagon. You are not allowed hump plates.
Thanks Randy

Just an FYI , all hoods will need to be opened during inspection. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone that I have talked over the pas several months. It's going to be a beautiful day for a derby. See you all soon..... Randy

Hate to say it but this was by far the worst show as far as allowing blantent driver's door shots I've ever seen...and I'm pretty sure if you still have it next year you won't run heats in mod class unless u put 4 cars in two heats cuz the last few of us who actually built to your rules and didn't go through the line multiple times bc our cars couldn't pass inspection probably won't be back unless you plan on doing A LOT of changing and I hate to say that...

90% of the door hits at any derby are from people pulling the door to avoid taking a wheel shot. Almost every driver does this and there is nothing wrong with it as long as the person doing it doesn't complain about being hit afterward. It's part of the game. As for the other 10%, when you have that many cars moving on a slick track at the same time, drivers are going to miss their target or have another car pull in their path. There is no way to completely avoid it. NOBODY is out there hitting driver doors on purpose trying to hurt people. Now for inspection, as far as I know, most of the issues found were minor things. A few to many bolts here or a couple tack welds there. All easily fixable stuff. It wasn't like people were showing up with fully plated cars and completely disregarding the rules. Drivers were required to fix all violations found, so I don't really see the problem. That's why there is an inspection and why we are allowed 2 passes through. The vast majority of cars at every derby have to make changes to pass tech because everyone looks at the rules differently. I seriously doubt anybody got away with major violations that would have affected car strength very much. I thought Randy and crew did a great job. Inspection was very thorough and seemed fair across the board. They were very friendly and respectful both on the phone and at the derby, unlike the previous promoter.
Just my 2 cents Chris Tegeler

It's one thing to go through inspection twice but when cars keep going back over and over again before they "pass" is rediculous..I watched multiple cars make at least 4 runs through inspection that ended up running that's rediculous..granted he did turn 3 away but after being told twice what to do and still having to go through two more times before you pass is rediculous..just my opinion..and yes driver's use there doors aloy anymore but Randy said in the meeting anyone caught not lifting or purposely using it as a sheild would be black flagged I watched multiple cases of both with nothing done about it... Altamont use to be the place to run around here and honestly look at car count this year we had half what we did a year ago and nobody could stand GSA... Do I think it's Randy's fault no but I do believe drastic changes need to be made or this derby will be the next that's dead for mod class anyway..I had fun running had shit luck bc stuff broke but I agree with the rest of drivers who didn't understand why people were getting more than twice to pass inspection....just my two cents.
