I was wondering if I could use rubber fuel line to loop ? No no no. That's a big no-no. Just go and get a 5/15 brake line that's made up with the right fittings. One about 18- 24 inches long. They are about five bucks and bullet proof.

Will it not hold up to the pressure or why is it such a bad idea? First time looping

It will not hold up to the pressure. Once it gets hot the clamps loosen. Fuel line is not designed to take the heat. Also I think fuel line will break down chemically from exposure to tranny fluid. The fire risk is too great to fool around. Just another self inflicted error that can put you out. The guys that win derbys control as many of these factors as possible. JMO.

Too high of a fire risk to go cheap on. Always pay extra attention and money to anything with safety.

First time I cut steel lines, flared the ends. Used high strength hose. It still leaked a little after the derby.
Ended up changing it to an all steel U shape.

You've basically said "I know what you're telling me, but that sounds too difficult... Why can't I cut the lines and loop them with hose?" 3 times now... DON'T DO IT!!!! Have the steel line made.. Don't ask the same question until you hear what you want to hear.... If you want, I'll give you the phone number of a guy that's in the St. Francis burn unit because of a trans fire last weekend.... Do not take shortcuts on matters of safety.. Discussion over....

Discussion over

Can't we all just get along. Yes, I'm sorry for being brash, 14... I realize that my attitude and post, a lot like many others is what destroys this site and turns up and comers away from here, and this sport in general.. It's just that I was trying to make a point.. Too many times I have tried to help people out by making suggestions nicely just to look at the person's car later to find they paid no mind to my advice.... Not saying I know everything, but when someone asks me what they should do, and I find it went out the other ear because their good friend (that knows nothing about building a derby car) says it's not necessary, it irks me a little.... In this case, it wasn't a mere suggestion to help the car hold up a little better or last longer... It was about a matter of safety that no shortcut should be taken... I don't want to see ANYONE -friend OR foe get hurt doing what we all love...
