Anyone else got pics of how your doing the down bars to the frame? Don't know how to weld, yours wouldn't fit my rules I don't think. But I do gotta say, I would diffentely feel safe in that cage lol

Didn't know I was posting my pictures for you to criticise. Some of the ugliest welds are the strongest. Pretty sure when I take a 1/4 track shot to the drivers door from a team built truck and my cage doesn't move I'm pretty sure I'd trust my welding. So you sir can piss off. Sorry, didn't know you were a welder by trade. Lol. Strong welds do not look like chicken scratch. Only person that's gonna get hurt is you. sorry I don't have thousands of dollars to piss away on one Derby truck. I work with what I have. I don't build vehicles to hurt someone, I go out to have fun. If I get hurt then it's my fault. No I'm not a professional welder but I've never had a weld break on me and the welds you saw on the down bars are layered, not perfectly but thick. I actually still believe that derbying can be fun without killing someone else in the process. Your cage is a bit overkill honestly and cutting out the entire rear of your cab is pointless but hey that's none of my business.

Run against the trucks I run against and tell me if it's overkill then.. there's a class for everyone. The sheetmetal behind the seat is pointless. It adds no strenght or protection.. but a makes welding the cage together a 100 times easier. And how am I out to hurt someone? That cage is for my safety. You can take full track shots to my door all day long. Not gonna hurt me.

But I do gotta say, I would diffentely feel safe in that cage lol You want to run them directly to your frame. 2 straight down from your dash bar. And 2 straight down from your seat bar. Not from your door bars.

And then 90 the door Bars to catch down bars or just leave em on seat and dash bars? I was kinda imagining what your saying mixed with how tofer got his to frame except that horizontal bar would be in the can to catch door bar...if you can follow that

That's right, I said here cuz I run in East Central Illinois on the border of Indiana. I've never seen tracks big enough to need that big of a cage so again, I stand with my statement of your cage being way overkill.

That's funny I was at spring explosion in the stands, what truck were you? Cuz all those trucks were team trucks? The only truck with epg on the door. My team mate couldn't run because of a injury. Took 4th after my fuel pump wiring melted. I dont understand what is funny??

So any how...5 in x 1/4 c channel enough for cage or just get tube? C channel is pretty weak. Use 3x3 or 4x4 square tubing. 1/4" thick
