I built a 1997 intrepid and drove it onto the trailer just fine, but when i got to the track I started it to back it off the trailer. In the middle of backing in off it died. Ever since I have not been able to get it to start. It was running fine up until that point. I came to the conclusion that it doesn't have any spark. Anybody have any ideas what went wrong. i am new to these cars.

From what I've read on the internet there's a fuse under neath the steering wheel. That when it gets hot it pops and shuts everything Down. And intrepids are known for that fuse popping. I have a 97 intrepid and I'll be just re wiring that fuse and use a wire in stead, when I find the time to do it.

Was a good car....straight stock build.lot of grey area to the rules.I couldn't convince him to let me play into it.
I would do what you can to the front.swap bumper, get the front end higher (this car got cleared).the steering column broke.you could move it six inches any way.trunk went in fine, but the rear bumper was gone.I can't guarantee it would have plowed,or made the rear stronger leaving it in.a rear window bar and trunk tuck would make the ass more stiff.once the trunk went in,the back end was hard.run spares out back for obvious reasons.

This was a 97 intrepid I ran in a stock show. The back started rolling up nicely until a Taurus wagon got ahold of it. The tie rods were my Achilles heel

97 intrepid. 3.5 overhead. Any pictures or tips...probably for a stock show. Any tips would help. Thanks guys i ran that car last year. 2 runs I got out of it. the front tires are too big for the car, you have to switch them out for skinny tires or the tires will fall off. the inside tire wall hits the strut and it acts like a tire machine and just pops right off. run donuts on the rear, cut some notches in the frame. the trunk will go up but itll need some help. once the trunk is pre bent id put a sturdy bumper on the rear keep the frame rails straight. front wise a nice olds mobile 88 bumper weld up the bumper to the frame top and bottom. oh and the car is really low to the ground in the front so youll want to lift up the front. I drilled into the strut, thru a bolt in it got some ride height then welded a piece of 2x2 square tubing to the strut to keep it straight. worked great.

Would replacing the timing chain on a 3.5 do any good or are they just lost causes?

If i remember correctly yes it was the 3.5 I actually still have it. I placed first with it, and besides losing power steering and the plastic fenders the car is ready to load and take out again sometime this year.
