No stock hatch no welding at all that was holding the hatch closed was seatbelt , I kinda pretend the roof after the first heat , I had to cut off bumper because it was hanging off but my car was rotted was a strong car front ends weak goes down maybe a better bumper and threaded rod would make it a lot better but I would run one again in a Heat beat

I have a stripped 2001 mazda protege that I've stripped and moved the battery and fuel tank in and I've built a cage in it already. Has anybody ran one of these before? Is there anywhere I should avoid hitting? Rules are macoupin county fair (Illinois) using this rule set what can I do to beef it up? The officials really don't check that hard so cutting corners is preety easy You are the original poster. Since it kind of took off, you good with this becoming a permanent fwd Mazda thread? If so, I will change the title, and stick it to the locator.

Just for reference....from late 70's to 2010 ford owned 35% of Mazda.though not always identical, there are lots of parts shared between these cars.
Mazda familia/protege = Ford laser and escort. Mazda 626/mx6 =ford probe
I have heard lots of good things about the probes....

Yes the two company's have had shared cars but there is a lot of cars that Mazda build that are nothing like Ford cars like Mazda 1986-1993 b2200-2600 are great demo trucks full box frame and 6 bolt and rx7 1979-1989 first gen and second gen are great great demo cars
