I have a stripped 2001 mazda protege that I've stripped and moved the battery and fuel tank in and I've built a cage in it already. Has anybody ran one of these before? Is there anywhere I should avoid hitting? Rules are macoupin county fair (Illinois) using this rule set what can I do to beef it up? The officials really don't check that hard so cutting corners is preety easy

The earlier models were similar to 90s Ford Escorts. Maybe some tips transfer? Escorts are soft IMO. If they don't inspect the cars and you don't care about being a blatant cheater, stuff tube all the way to the firewall.

I was just under my '02 driver today. Take a good look at the frame rails right by the engine pulleys. Very narrow right there on both sides. Looks like when ours becomes a derby car, I will count on it being dead in one run.

I ran one automatic shifter cable will seperate from the front of the tranny and the front bumper is junk,,, if it hasn't rotted from the inside out its a decent car depending on your rules and competition I personally wouldn't race another

The ones I ran both had a wiring harness on the drivers side fender. it runs from under the dash, which is easily unhooked from there. then ends up at a fuse box in front of the driver side strut tower. I moved my fuse box about where the windshield motor goes.then I put the wiring harness up and over the dash. I Never did much with the trunk and it bent up prefect,But I might of got lucky lol.

Mine is behind the support. 99-03 has the same radiator. Wonder if it being a 5 (wagon) makes a difference.
